Whoever's running the castle? Good job on this choice. Paris is much better than a lot of places you could have chosen.

But perhaps the best part of this is getting to work again. It's no Wolfram and Hart (though I imagine if we were in the real Paris, they have a branch there) but it'll do. It's my own firm, and I seem to be making enough money to support a rather nice private apartment.

I think this might even beat that cruise ship.

[Lilah probably sounds more cheerful than she has in a long time. She can't help it. Work gives her purpose, something she's sorely missed in Paradisa.]

When: Saturday Evening
Where: The Lux.
Sugarplum Fairies: PLENTY.
Notes: ANYONE is welcome. Prose or brackets. I'm just having Katherine start it off, but feel free to have your very own thread. This is a party-post of sorts. It's at the Lux and there are plenty of wines and platters of small bits of food that are meant to accentuate the flavor of the wine. Cheese, Chocolate, Fruits... etc.

The Lux isn't Katherine's first choice of social locations, but it does have the luxury of being somewhere that has been deemed as off-limits for the Salvatore brothers. She'd put the math together through the journals and from over-hearing conversations of employees and the ghosts. Such gossips. She'd already resolved to go to that Speed Dating thing, just trying to make some effort to figure out just who all was in this place and just how vulnerable some of them were.

For the moment, she's milling through the crowd, glass in hand, and keeping an eye on everyone. She's fully capable of slipping by most of them undetected. Knowing that her speed would easily put her out of anyone's line of sight if she didn't want to be seen. Tonight though, she wasn't planning on shying away from too many of them.

Who: Katherine and Morgana, Lilah, and Tess.
Where: Locations in the City. Katherine is getting a feel for the area.
When: Saturday afternoon.

For the most part Katherine was very good at keeping her presence a secret. She spent countless years hiding from people who would have been interested in finding her, either for their own personal needs or to kill her. The drawback to the castle was that it seemed everyone knew too much about everyone else. It didn't bode well for Katherine and when Alaric just vanished, she assumed that things would just get more complicated for her. Not having a roommate who was easy to compel meant she had to make other arrangements for her needs.

Plus, Stefan seemed to think he could sort out whatever nefarious plan she was in the midst of. It was really irritating that he automatically assumed she was up to something when she had only started to get her feet wet with the city and its surroundings. She'd sort something out eventually, but for now she was just relieved to be in a place where Klaus couldn't find her.

The city was nice. It reminded her of a simpler time, but it also reminded her of the fact that she is very glad to have survived through all of this to enjoy the things that the current time has to offer her.

For the moment, Katherine was just wandering the city, stopping in the various stores and trying to see what exactly was of any interest, if any, to her and what she could do with it.

NOTES Wes will be at the clinic 25th/26th and will be home from 27th. Will create subthreads, but feel free to create your own. Prose and action spam both welcome. Fred will be pretty much a constant fixture at Wes' side.
WARNINGS PG at most.

After six hours he wakes up again. Everything is a blur and his head throbs painfully, He's told that he has fractured ribs and a concussion and he's not well enough to be discharged yet. Well, that much is obvious. He sleeps quite a bit and feels bad that he can't remember a thing from the past day or so. It's troubling when people ask him what happened and he can't tell them.

Time passes in a way that he can't keep track of. At some point he ends up back home again. That means he's better, right?

The only constant is Fred. He's grateful for that. But frustrated that reading is too difficult. He's allowed visitors, which is a good thing, else he might have gone a bit batty by now.

The temperatures have taken a very noticeable downturn so wandering out shirtless is not a very good idea lately. However, neither does he want to stay in the house overlong. Gwaine + work ≠ happy and work is what Arthur has been piling on after the braining and kidnapping fiasco.

Unfortunately for him, the only clothes left in the house today were these. Or so Allen a little too cheerfully informed him before basically shoving the shirt over Gwaine's head.

Yep. Gwaine is going to punch Allen. But that'll have to wait. The foreign sound and lights of slot machines are doing a very good job of distracting him right now.

Because he didn't have all that much room at his residence, Wes had keep his invitation to his friends only. However, he knew that Caritas had better facilities for dealing with larger numbers of people and fully intended to lend a hand there to make sure other people were settled and taken care of.

He'd gone into town to stock up on what he felt he needed to prepare for more people staying with him, but being the man that he was, he probably missed some items in terms of what was prioritised.

Having had a place all to himself for months now (save Spike staying over), it was going to be strange living with people in close proximity again. Wes prayed that the current crisis would be a mercifully temporary one.

The castle has seemed unusually quiet lately, almost as if it was giving people a rest after that little Freudian experience. Or plotting something particularly nasty to do next.

I don't know about you, but my money is on the second one, personally.

At the very least, it's given me more time to devote to finding someplace in town. So maybe I should be grateful.

And yet? I'm having a little trouble finding that gratefulness at the moment.

[When Lilah wakes up, she doesn't notice that her journal has been knocked to the floor sometime during the night. Or that it was open. In fact, at first, when she wakes up, she thinks she has been sent back home, back to Wolfram and Hart finally.

Because it seems like she's in her office. Instead of her bed, she's lying with her head on her desk, like she often has when working on a particularly difficult case. But as her eyes adjust, she begins to notice something.

It's her office but it's wrong.

Back home, her office had always been so neat. So organized. All her files tucked away in their cabinets with a few locks and protection spells there to keep from anything getting stolen. But the room she's in here, it's anything but neat.

The desk has a huge crack in the expensive, finely polished wood.

The cabinets have all been forced open.

Overall, there's a sense of violation. Someone has broken into this private space. Moved things around. Broken them. Forced things to work ways they weren't supposed to be.
]

Someone's been in here.

[Her voice sounds almost paniced and she gets up to her feet, beginning to move around the room. She tries to reorganize the papers, to put them back where they belong but no matter how hard she tries, the mess remains. She tries wishing things back but nothing changes.

Everything is damaged and her will alone isn't enough to fix it.
]

There has to be a way to set this right.

There has to be a way to fix it.

I won't let him win.

[Of course who he is at the moment seems almost unclear. It's about now that Lilah spots her journal, however, she hasn't quite registered yet that she's still in the Castle and not at home. So she snaps it shut and goes back to her task at hand.

There has to be a way to set things right again.

I have to say, comparatively, the whole reliving the Tower of Babel thing was fairly entertaining. [It probably helped that she knows a few languages, at least enough to get by understanding. She doesn't mention that. Of course.]

Of course, like the end of an episode of a television things have returned to status quo once more.

I can't help but be curious what would have happened if the common language hadn't returned. It would have made things interesting, at the very least.

[Lilah had been spending many of her afternoons in the shooting range lately, making sure her shot hadn't gotten rusty. After all, with both Damon and Stefan knowing about her involvement with Damon's torture, it would be stupid not to take precautions.

Which is why she had taken to carrying a gun with wooden bullets at all time.

But more than that, the process of aiming a gun and shooting it, even with wooden bullets instead of real ones, gave her a sense of purpose. A sense of control. And control wasn't something she had had in months. Not really. It had been taken away from her, forced out of her hands.

But she wasn't about to let something like that happen again.

Her journal is open on the floor next to her, and unknown to her, recording her as she lets out several shots.

It is only when she decides to take a break that she realizes said journal was open. She kneeled down next to it, speaking into it now.
]

I'd apologize for any hearing I might have hurt, but you know? Somehow I think you'll all survive.

[And with that bit of snark she closes the journal and goes back to what she had been doing before. With the gun in hand, she almost felt like her old self again.

Almost.

[Lilah's not usually the type to drink to get drunk, but with everything that's recently come to life, it doesn't seem like a terrible idea.

Which is why she was here, sitting on the roof of the castle, nursing her second glass of whiskey already. Sure, one of the bars would be a more practical place to go, but she didn't particularly want to be found right now. And her room?

It held too many memories. Memories that had been repressed but now had resurfaced. Things she would rather not dwell on because they made her feel like a victim. And she was many things, but a victim was not one of them. So why couldn't she shake this? She had been through traumatic things before (like being locked in a wine cellar with two psychotic vampires) but this was different.

It just reminded her how much she hated this place, how weak she was becoming in it. She didn't feel like the ball busting lawyer who left most of her coworkers peeing their pants in fear. Even helping Wesley with Damon, it hadn't brought her the satisfaction she thought it would. Well, that was a lie, because there was definite satisfaction in seeing him suffer but there was no closure. Not like she had expected.

There's a long silence over the journal as she drinks down the rest of the glass. And then the sound of another one being poured. And finally, speech.
]

I think I finally understand why people are so eager to leave this place. [It's cryptic at best, and more than she would normally admit to, but she's not quite feeling normal these days.]

Rating: R most likely for possible violence and references to triggery things.

Wes had set things in motion. Laid his plan as carefully as he could. There was still a huge margin for error but some dark, vindictive part of him didn't care. He was going to handle this himself. Damon didn't deserve due process, a trial, judgement by his peers. Wes wasn't going to rule by committee. The vampire had to be stopped and made to pay for what he'd done.

He'd done his research and Damon himself had unwittingly given him the means with which to oppose him.

Now all he had to do was sit and wait for the vampire to come to him. Lilah's message would no doubt make Damon want to do damage control as soon as he could. It wouldn't be long before the son of a bitch came to take care of the Wes problem. He poured himself a stiff whiskey and then sat down, the lits dimmed, waiting for his opponent to make his presence known.

Who: Wesley, Lilah, Willow
What: Wes follows a lead and gets Willow's help to find out the truth from Lilah.
Where: Lilah's room.
When: Sunday afternoon, not long after Harmony's post.
Ratings: PG? But dark, possibly disturbing themes/discussion.

It was all making sense in his head now, why Damon had been so adamant that Angel was the culprit, and urging everyone to go take him down. It was a misdirection. Damon had demonstrated the power to influence the mind, he'd done so in Wesley's presence with the bartender. It was possible his powers of glamouring were strong. Strong enough to make a victim not only not be able to talk about what had happened, but believe something else. He had to know for sure. He needed to find out the truth for himself and then he'd decide on his course of action.

Which meant confronting Lilah one last time. But this time, he had something up his sleeve.

He knocked on her door and waited for her to answer. There was no time to lose, and he wasn't going to back down. No, the stakes were far too high.

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
