As quick as he came, he's gone again. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the bloodsucker's gone. But I don't get to enjoy it because every time he leaves I have to look at her face again. And I see just how... It makes me think of when he left her the first time. None of the Cullens ever saw her like I saw her. They can say all they want, but they're the ones that always hurt her. He left her ALONE IN THE FUCKING FOREST for God's sake. He's lucky Sam was able to find her. She was just a big VOID until I came around and kept her company. THAT is why I'm better for her. Because I don't play games like that. And I don't come with any life or death choices or vampire mafias or any of that.

Yeah, whatever. The castle brought him and took him away, not his fault. But that doesn't change the fact that she's hurting again because of him.

[ After letting out his frustrations, Jake throws his pen and huffs loudly. Then, he turns to Bella, tugging on her hand a bit. ]

C'mon. We're getting some fresh air.

[ he turns abruptly toward her and scoops her up with his free arm, holding her in front of him and tightly against him ]

A traditional piggy back is kind of impossible, so... This good enough for you? [ laughs ]

I should just go for a run with you clinging to me like this. But I don't think that'd be as much of a thrill as it was when I was a wolf.

parked not far from where they're standing is a dune buggy tailored for off-road driving. the wheel is positioned for Jake's driving access, and the silly, matching helmets are perched on the bucket seats. ]

Damn, the castle did better than I thought.

Since I couldn't think of a way for us to ride our bikes together, I thought maybe we could try this.
