Who: The Fifth Doctor and YOU!
What: Cleaning up the mess ...
When: Thursday afternoon
Where: Room 1102, in and around both TARDII
Rating: YMMV if your character has a potty mouth. Otherwise, PG.

The Doctor had noticed the damage right off, of course, but cosmetic vandalism was slight in the face of other possible threats. Now that he was certain that everyone had returned unharmed, for the most part, however, he was setting about cleaning things up. Galadriel was taking care of the other worry on his mind - Lente and Flora - and he intended to check up on her in a little while, but for the most part, it seemed like cleaning was the best course of action.

With his other self out of commission again - and likely to wake up with new memories, as he seemed to every once in a while - Five decided to do Eleven a solid and clean off both TARDII in one go. This would need an awful lot of soap, though. He'd brought a large wooden cask out into the room proper and filled it with water - no buckets, out of newfound consideration for the trolls - and filled it with warm, soapy water. That being done, he began to scrub away the graffiti.

On the whole, it read simple, mundane things, the sort of insults you'd expect from childish vandals: crude drawings of genitalia, a scrawl of "Doctor WHO?" that was so old-hat that it was just plain ignorable, and a number of other things.

Curiously, though, two words stood out on both ships, in a decidedly different color of spray paint: tick t0ck.

Five paused in his scrubbing and stood back, hooking one hand in his pocket. "Well, that's odd."

[It's early morning, and all is relatively quiet until something unexpected breaks the calm over the journals. The merry ringing of a metal bell. A bright, chipper, probably unbearably loud noise to anyone who wished to sleep in. Didn't know you ordered a wake up call, huh? Felix made sure to ask the ghosts to open everyone's journal just for this. Aren't you glad.]

Good morning, everyone. I do hope you're all packed, because the expedition is set to begin shortly!

Please bring any personal supplies and meet down in the lobby. The sooner we leave the better.

[Felix will be waiting for the volunteers as they arrive. He's dressed pretty much how he always does, his only concessions to practicality being the tight navy blue riding pants (which match his jacket, of course) and the light cotton shirt he wears until his bright green vest, which is free of his cravat and any extraneous ruffles. For him, it's practically plain.

This man is your leader. Be afraid.

Good morning, everyone - Fifth Doctor, here. I trust you're all having a pleasant morning...?

I hear a good number of us are setting out on Felix Harrowgate's expedition to Lente's Point, this week, and while I've volunteered my TARDIS to bring us out to the Dead Zone, I'm afraid I'll need a few volunteers for preparation. In the past, I've taken stable animals in the TARDIS as well, so that we have alternate transportation for those who either cannot or prefer not to travel on foot - and so that we can bring supply carts with us, as well. I've got those stables and carts reconfigured - they're moving into place off the console room as I speak. Thank you, old girl, always such a help.

What I need are a few able-bodied individuals with decent animal husbandry skills to meet me down near the stables so that I can move the animals into the TARDIS and get them settled down for the trip. Also, if you have an animal of your own that you're planning on brinning, a pet or a mount that will need accomodations, please let me know here, and I'll be certain they'll be provided for.

Thank you for your time - and I'll see you all at the departure!

[there is now a separate thread here for those who wish to help with the livestock in person! have at! threadjack at will.]

Good afternoon, everyone. This is the Fifth Doctor, speaking, and, yes, I’m quite done making a fool of myself. As some of you may be aware, the twenty-fifth of May is a minor holiday on some versions of Earth, and far more celebrated in other planets across the galaxy as the birthday of one Adam Douglas, the author of the Vagrant’s Guide to the Universe. But instead of just calling it a birthday, they call it Towel Day. And why is that, exactly?

[The sound of a snapping towel precedes Eleven’s ever so cheerful voice] Because one should never be without their towel. It’s quite a useful thing, you know, you never know what you may need it for! [slight pause as he smirks at Five] Even in space.

Couldn’t resist, could you. [he sighs] Barbs at my misfortune aside, everyone, it’s a lovely day, so bring your favorite towel - if you haven’t one, then wish one up - and meet us outside on the lawn! We’re having a picnic, you see, and there are a million and one uses for a towel at a picnic.

VWOOOOOORP.

... Including aiding in catching parrots who’ve been here a year to the day. Thank you for reminding us, Tardy.

And for those of you who prefer practical uses to creative ones, the pool in my TARDIS is open for business. As long as Delirium doesn’t mind sharing for the day, of course... I cleared out all that jello, didn’t I?... [ahem.] We’ll be outside all day, so come by and join us, won’t you?

[he picks up the vial of blue program energy he'd gotten from Gibson, and studies it intently] If I can find a way to replicate this, Tony may have his portable fuel after all ...

[he's so tired, though, so very mentally shot. maybe just one little sip won't hurt. he sips at the test tube, delicately - and it tastes marvellous. like a good night's rest and the Zero Room and a good cup of tea and a sunny day and the best cocktail ever, all rolled into one drinkable thing.

[working on the procedures to help disable the Meta is taxing work ... and Five finds himself in need of a break. he pushes back from his workstation in the laboratory and looks around, idly. his mind is still racing, but he's itching to see some sort of physical progress ... wants to have something to show for his time. his gaze rests on a pile of scrap metal idling in the corner, and he can't help but think aloud]

That bit looks rather like ... well. It could be, I suppose. In a pinch. ... Some days I do wish she hadn't taken him with her when she left this place ...

Right… bit of a lack of notice, I suppose… but really, we’ve waited long enough. I do believe we’ve got a cavern to explore. So up and at ‘em! No more lying about. If you’re coming along, we’ve got the TARDII waiting downstairs. And if you’re not here in an hour, I suppose you’ll just have to walk to the hole yourself, then.

[Five is hard at work in the TARDIS laboratory. he's been poking at the same samples and re-reading the same notes for hours now, waiting for a breakthrough. he can't believe he's been at it for so long, and not found anything. it's disappointing, and frustrating, but most of all, he's not making progress in the thing he wants to do most: help someone. he drops his head down onto the table and sighs. after a moment, he'll raise his voice, reflectively:]

[once he reaches the edge of the castle grounds, proper, he flops himself down on the grass, flat on his back, and folds his arms behind his head, staring up at the sky. grass stains be damned, it's a great, wide, beautiful world, even with the oppression of a sentient, soul-feeding castle, and he knows the key to keeping himself whole in the face of everything is to remain enthralled by even the slightest of things. like the fact that that one cloud looks a bit like a beagle.....]
[identity profile] n0secondchances.livejournal.com
[there's a shuffling sound as the journal opens, followed by a throat clearing before Ten's voice comes through, loud and clear] Right! So! We're going on a trip. Remember the trip? I mentioned it the last time I was here, if you're wanting to look back and see. Only, last time, it seems I was all about going under the castle...and now there's a great, big hole just opened up on the lawn waiting for a few enterprising souls to take a look.

[Five pipes up, happily] I do remember the trip, yes! And considering I missed out on all the goings-on when that hole was made? Well. Miss out once, shame on Paradisa, miss out twice, shame on me!

[Eleven's voice follows, sounding all the world like he's planning a trip to the circus instead of a trip into a cave.] I for one can't wait to get a better look at that cavern now that we're not rushing about, saving the day and all that.

Now, of course, with three of me examining it...well. who knows what we'll find? Frankly, I'm still a bit awed at the fact we're not facing imminent collapse. Not that I'm bothered, mind you. I was never fond of collapsing universes. That just gets messy, that does. But there's got to be a few out there who are itching to explore...squirming to get out and see what's waiting below the surface!

It's a pity York's off on that trip of his, I'm sure he would've loved to come along ... but I can think of at least a few people who'd be interested.

Ooohhh there are loads of people who'd love to explore the unknown, get a little dirty, maybe find something new and exciting down there.

So, that's it, then! Nothing too dramatic. Just a nice, quick jaunt to your neighborhood foreboding cavern. Shouldn't take more than a day. Or two. Or three. Or......well, I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

... Is this the bit where we're supposed to sign off, and be witty about it? York's usually witty about it.

I've got it! GERONIMOOOOOO

... Excuse you, Tardy, I was going to drink that, before you went and knocked it over....

Well, then... on that note... I guess we might as well throw it out there. Who's coming with us?

[ooc: Green is Ten, Dark Red is Five, Dark Blue is Eleven ... and Regular Blue is Tardy the Parrot. An OOC Post will be going up soon, but come one, come all for a very short, mini-expedition to Slenderman's secret lair. Mod approved]

Goodness, all this investigating and tinkering and running about and saving people in one place for so long ... I don't think I've stayed in one place for this long a time since my days with UNIT. ... I daresay, I don't want to know what the Brigadier would think of all this. He'd probably dismiss it all as a bunch of poppycock and try to get up a squadron to find their own way out. [he chuckles a little, fondly] Though, he did seem to have mellowed, the last time I saw him ... but that's what time does to people, in some cases.

Good old UNIT ... oh! You know, that reminds me. Anyone know how a Time Lord might go about getting himself into this Peace Patrol I've heard so much about? It seems I'm a good deal overdue for membership...

[After having spent a couple of weeks as a cat (something that was hardly as interesting as he had thought it would be) and watched Five be Mr. Grumpy Face for a week, Eleven knew that both of them could use a little pick-me-up. Granted, when the Doctor needs a pick-me-up he usually just travels to some new time or place, gets into a little trouble, runs a lot, saves the world, and all is right again.

The problem is, that's rather impossible to do here.

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
