[Violet can be found on a street corner, just writing in her journal.]

I've always wanted to visit Paris. I've always wanted to go anywhere. My parents did a lot of traveling when they were alive. I think it was for the group they were in. They liked learning things, and taught us the value in knowledge. Suppose it's a bit different than the Paris they knew.

If anyone would like to go exploring with me, I'd love to do so.

[Spoken as faint jazz music is heard in the background.]

So the ballroom is already should anyone like to come. There's music and food and any are welcome. I'm not the very best at setting these up or announcing it, but like I said, stop by, please.

Who: Violet and OPEN
What: Her 30's night
When: Night of the 12th
Where: Ballroom
Rating: PG-13 at most?

[The ballroom was set up like an old fashioned jazz club, tables with hors d'oeuvres, but the main attraction was most certainly the music. There were plenty of records from her time, though she managed to do a little research on the '40s and '50s as well.

Violet really just wanted something to get her mind off the past few weeks.]

ooc: going up in sections. parteh style so feel free to hop about.

So I mentioned a thirties night in my last journal entry. I'm thinking December 12th. In the ballroom. Just hors d'oeuvres, dancing, that sort of thing. I'm not the best at this sort of thing, but anyone is welcome.

Also does anyone else celebrate Hanukkah? My family wasn't the most religious or anything, but I was just wondering.
[identity profile] wittybaudelaire.livejournal.com
Back from the expedition. Freshly showered. I ended up throwing the dress out, blood stains and it was horribly ripped. It was awfully exciting though. Never had to fix a train before. If anyone wants it, I do have a detailed writing of everything I witnessed. I've retrieved my last commonplace book from the library from the expedition to Lente's Point. They're together with me.

[A pause and some paper shuffling.]

I was wondering. With all this cultural stuff that we've experienced over the last month or so, I was thinking that maybe if there's any local establishments that would like to host a 1930's night, I'd like to give something back to the community. Most of the people are from a lot later and it would be nice to have a bit of home.

Admittedly I hadn't had much time to listen to the phonograph back home, but still. Just a night out or something.

I would be something of a socialite were circumstances different. [Not that she exactly enjoys that thought, but here it's different.]
[identity profile] wittybaudelaire.livejournal.com
[She's taking a break today from building. Violet has been thinking a lot lately, and she feels she needs to get this off her chest, see what others have to say.]

I've been thinking a lot lately about the nature of good and evil. Things always seem so black and white. If you kill someone, you've killed them. They're gone. It's a bad thing. But then there's accidental or when you're defending yourself -- or war.

So an act, presumably bad, is now not. But if you've committed these things, what does that make you? What if people you thought were noble?

Perhaps it's just circumstances. You do what you have to do. Greater good? But is that just an excuse we tell ourselves to live with what we've done. It makes me wonder what the point is. It can't all just be we live, we suffer, we die.

I'd hope to be a good person. I'd hope to be like my parents, but I'm not perfect, and neither were they. But then knowing that, knowing what they've done, does that change my view? Can I really judge? I don't know.

I feel like I once knew these answers, and now I don't.
[identity profile] wittybaudelaire.livejournal.com
[Violet's in the lobby for once, with schematics rolled out for Dr. Brennan's x-ray machine. She's already got several of the pieces done, but she's making more notes. Her journal is open, and she's actually cheery for once.]

So I really did enjoy the past few days. It was a nice relief of everything the castle has thrown at me lately. I've never experienced the culture before, so I took plenty of notes. I think my brother would have appreciated it. But in lieau of him not being here, I shall take up the task of learning more about it. That is, in between working on Dr. Brennan's x-ray machine and microscope.

[Filter to Percy]

I just wanted to say thank you for your support the last few weeks. It means a lot. I can be a little too independant, I suppose. But having someone to listen to me and not judge me means a lot. I've had to question a lot lately. And I'm just glad to have you around.

ooc: feel free to action it up in the lobby.
[identity profile] wittybaudelaire.livejournal.com
[There's a soft sigh. She woke up without the blood that day. And with her memory.]

The blood is gone. But I know why it was there, now.

Also it seems I've missed my seventeenth birthday. It isn't the first time. I'm not in any sort of mood to celebrate though. I'll be in the library at the castle if anyone needs me.

ooc: feel free to bother her in the library.

[Violet was about to write something. But the blood on her hands was dripping onto the pages. Only it wasn't. There was no actual blood on her hands so when the droplets hit the pages they vanished. And it was freaking her out. So this is a very panicked sounding Violet.]

So... ugh... I know people are dealing with the housing and castle and things, but... is it possible that the castle could still make you see things?

I've washed my hands about half a dozen times, and the blood just won't come off. I-- I don't know whose it is. I don't know what to do.
[identity profile] wittybaudelaire.livejournal.com
[She think it best to try and get this out. Things have happened recently and while she's taken to sleeping in all sorts of uncomfortable places, her room simply isn't her room any more.]

Think I'm finding out about this place, and the more I stay the more things keep coming up. I suppose I really should focus on my life here now. It's been five months or so. I thought I was adjusting well.

I just don't know how to live with myself here when I've done so much wrong back home.

[Locked to Five and Eleven]

I'm not liking my room very much since my old home burned down it. Do either of you mind if I stay in either TARDIS for awhile? I promise I won't be a burden
[identity profile] wittybaudelaire.livejournal.com
[Violet's room is a large mansion transfixed in the middle of a busy city. It easily takes up a block. Her door is wide open. There are rooms and rooms filled with objects and specialties. There's a full kitchen, several dens, and several libraries. Violet ha hrr own room to invent. There was a room full of woodwinds, though her father never picked up an instrument. He would say he just liked the word 'piccolo'. There are teeming rooms of tomes, piles of pages, hoards of hopes of things to learn, and odds and ends in between. Beatrice liked to be well rounded, you see.

You won't find Violet there, though. No. The pain of a house once lost and of a family now gone is too heartbreaking. Still feel free to wander the large mansion.]

ooc: so pretty much the house is going to get set on fire like in canon. It will just be returned to normal like all the other's rooms when the event ended.
[identity profile] wittybaudelaire.livejournal.com
[It's midmorning when she surfaces out of her room, forlorn and not entirely pleased that her old home is now her room. It was nice being back, but Klaus and Sunny should have been there as well as her parents. She wonders down to the ibrary at somepoint and flips open her journal.]

My room is my old home. I don't think I can go back there for awhile. It's... too painful.

ooc: Feel free to visit her in the morning or at the library.
[identity profile] wittybaudelaire.livejournal.com
[In the lobby, Violet's strung up a 'Happy Birthday' sign (in Ancient Greek) and she's got a cake and putenesca sauce with noodles. Next to the table is a large wrapped present. Like really large. At least four feet in height and width.

Once done, she took out her journal to announce the impromptu party.]

So Percy Jackson's birthday was on Thursday. There's a small party in the lobby if anyone wants to come down. I made enough pasta and there's a cake.

ooc: feel free to tag around. party style, whatevs.
[identity profile] wittybaudelaire.livejournal.com
[Violet has finally finished the small boat she'd made with the engine she'd built. Even if she's on a loss right now, that will not stop her. After it's completed, she pulls out her journal.]

[At some point late in the afternoon, she can be seen pulling the boat down to the lake.]

ooc: Violet is still on her loss. She can only communicate in code/ ciphers. Here's the link to translate the binary: http://textmechanic.com/Binary-Code-Translator.html

[Since Violet and Percy had the great idea of chariot races, she figured it would be a good idea to see about interest. She's currently in her room when she pulls out her journal.]

Catagorizing things to do, I'd wish to learn a new hobby or acquire a new skill. Though my writing seems off at the moment.

[She blinks... this is a code. She's writing in a cipher and she can't help it. Let's try this again, this time she speaks. She voices out each letter.]

[Violet is in her room covered in grease, but this is relatively normal for her here now. A finished engine sits in the middle of her room. She pulls out her journal and proceeds to right in it.]

So that engine I was building, well I remodeled it and I'm thinking about making some sort of boat or floatation device. However, I'm a little tired of asking the castle for things. If anyone has any extra spare parts or know where I can get some, that would be awfully helpful.

Subsequentally, if anyone wants to hang out by the lake, pond, or whatever it is, I need see it to make some diagrams and see the water.

[Violet's remained in her room since returning to the castle. She wasn't one to mope or brood or any sort of reflexsive activity that would mean she'd have to process the past two years. However it wasn't the first time she was jailed. So instead, she took to learning about quantum mechanics.]

Sorry I've not really contacted anyone in a few days. Catching up on some reading. Hope everyone's alright.

Filtered to everyone who has expressed interest in the expedition and away from the First Gen's

[It's early morning, and all is relatively quiet until something unexpected breaks the calm over the journals. The merry ringing of a metal bell. A bright, chipper, probably unbearably loud noise to anyone who wished to sleep in. Didn't know you ordered a wake up call, huh? Felix made sure to ask the ghosts to open everyone's journal just for this. Aren't you glad.]

Good morning, everyone. I do hope you're all packed, because the expedition is set to begin shortly!

Please bring any personal supplies and meet down in the lobby. The sooner we leave the better.

[Felix will be waiting for the volunteers as they arrive. He's dressed pretty much how he always does, his only concessions to practicality being the tight navy blue riding pants (which match his jacket, of course) and the light cotton shirt he wears until his bright green vest, which is free of his cravat and any extraneous ruffles. For him, it's practically plain.

This man is your leader. Be afraid.

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
