[Zelman's talking about something or another, but something about that seems kind of off. he sounds kind of tired, for one thing. low energy. not half as aristocratically smug and better-than-thou as usual. in fact, he sounds kind of...]

France is nice and all, but I'd prefer it if we could actually leave. Plane, boat... Other countries. I miss that. It's that whole gilded cage metaphor.

Being a human is boring. Wish that idiot was around, he'd know what to d--oh, that's right.

[...yeah, he's been drinking. gotta do something with being human, right? there's some distracted muttering as he looks for a pen to write in the filter he just remembered.]

[Zelman's tucked just out of the way as you're leaving the castle--he's leaning against the outside wall to the side of the door, gazing somewhat uninterestedly out at the snow-covered grounds. he is definitely not dressed for the weather (wearing the same pants and t-shirt and hat and tennis shoes he always wears), but does not seem to mind the cold one bit. heck, the ground around his feet is strangely dry and the air around him feels strangely warm.

must be a weird vampire thing. eventually he decides that having boring conversations is a lesser evil than staring at boring snow, so he opens his journal up.]

For all the unpredictability our host is so well-known for, it seems strange that this is the one thing it holds as a tradition. Maybe it's just as sentimental as the rest of you.

[pfft, yeah right.] I suppose it's at least kind of an amusing tradition--for the first few days or so.

[he stops to swat at a random fairy that's strayed from the castle. he knows what's up, and he doesn't even care anymore. god, he hates the holidays.]

[oh this is just a little laughing at your expense.]

Haha, great! I figured it was just a matter of time, but that was less of a wait than I'd expected.

Not a bad underscore, either. It looks like those outposts didn't fare so well...

[[ooc: just your friendly neighborhood jerkface talking about the break out, but mostly the explosions and/or smoke in the distance. C:]]
[identity profile] exanimatus.livejournal.com
Who: Zelman & Galadriel (on a loss)

[anyone who wanders out onto the castle grounds tonight is free to notice that some of the larger piles of dry leaves are on fire. the flames seem weirdly contained so that they don't spread very far--which is a good thing, considering that otherwise the whole place would probably be ablaze in minutes. as the piles burn down, more leaves drop in to replace them like it never happened. but hey. things spontaneously bursting into flames at all is kind of weird. perhaps cause for concern!

but anyone with a bit of perception can find Zelman nearby, up in the branches of a bare tree or just standing around somewhere, out of the way, hands in his pockets. he's appeased enough, though he'd rather be setting something interesting on fire. like a building. or a person. people are so funny when they're on fire. Who: Zelman, Hawke, and Asuka
What: At some point Zelman invited Hawke over for booze and things. But Asuka is hanging around, and since she's immediately suspicious of any woman he's within twenty feet of...
When: Backdated to when everyone was locked out of the castle.
Where: La casa de Zelman (the mansion)
Rating: PG-13 for boozin' and Asuka. Mostly just Asuka.

[Alexstrasza might be gone now, but her tree is still a soothing center of peace and comfort, especially for a recently bereft Dragonsworn.

Rin knows it isn't Alexstrasza's fault but the timing sure sucks. She's still a little reluctant to be too alone, but at the same time, she's a little hungry for space of her own and solitude in which to brood. Her Pokémon wait for her at the base of the tree, but for now Rin is perched alone in the branches, leaning against the trunk and thinking of not much at all. There are leaves in her hair maybe, but who cares about that?]

[written neatly.]

Unless I'm mistaken, Joshua Kiryu's finally left. [an ink spot where he presses his pen to the page.] I suppose there's always the chance he could be pulling something, but he's not really the type to make himself less noticeable.

[and that's all he really has to say. he filters as an afterthought.]

Pharos )
[identity profile] exanimatus.livejournal.com
[dictated. he's lazy.]

It's funny. I'm a little surprised how many of you choose to bottle up such interesting things in your own minds. It'd make the place a whole lot livelier if you didn't.

But that aside, I'm looking for someone who'd be willing to give up some of their own blood. [a small, breathy sound. almost a laugh.] I suppose it's about the same if you're willing to give up someone else's blood, but settle the details on your own time. Either way, I can make it very worth your while.

the unwelcoming scene in room 316... )

[if you decide to venture into Zelman's room, he'll be there--a version of him anyway, barefoot and without a hat, flickering in and out a little as if he's composed more of flame than flesh. he's lying around on the floor, on his side, nearer to the far wall. his back is to the door. he's curled up a little, one arm protectively over a small box of newspaper clippings and photographs and stray pieces of scribbled-on paper. it's not much compared to the rest of the room, but one immediately gets the feeling that these things are important. precious. much more significant to him than anything else.

the contents of the box are spilled over a little onto the floor in front of him, but he doesn't seem to care. he's gazing absently at nothing, absolutely still except for the fingernail he keeps scraping across the floor. it makes a sound like a wire being tightened. again and again, a constant sharp scraping that is probably the only thing keeping him awake.

he looks a little annoyed, a little vacant. but mostly? bored out of his mind, no pun intended.]

[[ooc: gah, length. inner!Zelman is not a very nice person (just like his room!) but if you can handle that, feel free to look around or try to talk to him or whatever floats your boat.]]
[identity profile] exanimatus.livejournal.com
[dictated in this really old variant of Polish, because he's pretty sure maybe three people tops will be able to understand him.]

This really takes the joy out of gloating, but I guess the nature of this place dictates that I can't go having too much fun. Counting blessings, sure.

[and now in fluent (modern) Japanese.]

This reminds me of a time when the journal's filter system stopped working for a few days. As much as I'm sure your hosts enjoy making your lives harder, I can't help but wonder if this was planned or if the place is just experiencing... technical difficulties.

Just a thought.

[even if you don't understand any of it... one would probably be able to recognize his smarmy prettyboy voice anywhere. :|a]

[he told himself he was only going to cover one table.

but when it comes to stacking dominoes, Zelman goes at the task with the sort of obsessive compulsion that makes it impossible to stop after just one. he was originally stacking them in little rows and spirals and wiggly lines, over and around furniture, in his room at the castle.

but he's been at it since early this morning, so the domino construction site is now spilling out into the third-floor hallway. it looks like he's constructing a small labyrinth out of the things, at this point. and since the castle gives him an unlimited amount--who knows when he'll finally call it quits?

he's kind of getting close to blocking the hallway, so any character is well within their rights to say something.]

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
