Entrée de Journal Deux: Living Arrangements.

After my rather abrupt entrance the other day and a few attempts at trying to return; it would appear that I am stuck here, so I suppose proper introductions are in order.

My name is Malfoy, Draco Malfoy, a surname I hope will be familiar to at least a few of you, pureblood wizard, from a long line of purebloods and no doubt wealthier than you could hope to be.

I did study at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, initially with Albus Dumbledore as headmaster and then Professor Snape my old head of house.

[Soft frown and a quiet pause for a moment before changing tack]

Anyway I have been told I live next door to an angel and that there's a demon on the other side of him, I've not actually met either of them but am I the only one that finds this a little bit disconcerting?

I'm not going to have the fires of hell suddenly lick up my bedroom door whilst some celestial battle goes on, am I? Whose bright idea was it to put those particular forms of life together?

Oh Joy...and apparently a demon hunter further down the hall from them...

Yes this will go well.

[sighs huffily and walks with the journal in his hand]

And guess who else the castle has deemed fit for sticking me on the same hall as...

[Insert girlish shriek before a yell issues out]

Bloody hell Longbottom! Your toad in my sodding loo!

He was killed about 300 years ago. We were 17 when we died.

No, they don't... vampires, in my world and in several others here, never die of natural causes. Immortality, if you will, at the price of death. We die to be reborn; my brother was simply... murdered. By those who Changed me, out of spite.

Twelve generations perhaps seems impressive to me because I was born at the end of the 17th century. Although we were a well-known family, and could trace our lines back to the aristocracy before we came to the colony of Massachussetts, there was no way to trace back that far - for anyone besides royalty. And even then... families changed, new ones married in.

Ah. Some sort of enchantment, then?

...do you regularly ostracize people?

[identity profile] eyesweregold.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well, at least you don't kill them, I suppose.

...which of course is something my kind does fairly regularly. Again with the being terrible at getting along. [she chuckles a little]

Not in polite society, anyways? [another chuckle]

You hail from Europe, correct?

[identity profile] eyesweregold.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, Parlez-vous français ?

[identity profile] eyesweregold.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
Much better than I do, it seems, bien que je compris.
Ça fait longtemps !

I see. It was a symbol of refinement as well when I was young... it truly has been a long time, and I am afraid I am out of practice. Although I did regularly converse with humans back home, it was mostly in English, as I have remained in Massachusetts. I did spend a bit of time in Paris during La Belle Epoque, however.

[identity profile] eyesweregold.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, it was indeed. One of the many perks of my current state, I suppose.

[identity profile] eyesweregold.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Longer than most humans, though?

[identity profile] eyesweregold.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
So not everyone in your world has magic? Do you live amongst those without?

[identity profile] eyesweregold.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
A bit like us, then. Humans don't think we exist until they meet one of us. Well, meet in a prey-meets-predator sense. I actually spend a bit of time at home just wandering amongst them. They're all so hopelessly young and fragile... It's entertaining.
