Wintersday is upon us. I do wonder who will win this year: Dwayna or Grenth. I do hope the warm loving touch of Dwayna wins this year and we see an early spring.

The random bouts of violence seem to have ended. Thank Dwayna it wasn't as bad as that plague last month. Let's hope that nothing like that ever happens again. The clinic is stocked this time. Perhaps we should find more medics and healers, helpers even. Perhaps I'm overthinking this again. This isn't Tyria, although this place has enough problems to be so. We're just missing the 200 year old assassin ghost attempting to kill off the population of Cantha.

Throughout the course of my existence I have, willingly and unwillingly, observed humanity.

I have seen every season of your lives. Sorrow and happiness. Success and failure. Life and death. Suffering and peace. Triumph and tragedy. Weakness and strength. I have watched your rites, both secular and religious. I have witnessed you stumble onto truth and embrace it, and I have also witnessed you hurriedly pick yourselves up and walk sheepishly away, never to return.

There are many things about you that make very little sense. Some of this comes from what I am. The rest I attribute to a lack of caring enough to bother trying to understand you. The New Year's Eve celebration is one that pique's my curiosity.

In Hell, the damned have no use for celebrations. Time has no meaning there, and so they do not recognize the turning of the year. Even if it did, what is one year in eternity? Nothing. Since I left, I have had occasion to experience these festivals. And yet, I wonder. What precisely are you celebrating?

The year that has passed? Does it somehow become better for having ended? Most likely it wasn't appreciated as it was occurring, so why bother appreciating it once it's over?

Is it the year to come? Do you believe that, despite all odds and all experiences to the contrary, it will somehow be better than the ones that have come before it?

Or are you simply celebrating the fact that you've managed to survive another year?

Another year by the Lilim reckoning has passed. This is a blessing in it's own right and whether one believes in God or not, there is a joy to be found in the fact that one has had to strength to endure for this long.

I never expected to be here or anywhere for that matter and there are times when oblivion would probably be better, but this place has given me the chance to experience things I never had the chance to in my world or my life, so I will not say I am resentful or bitter.

Here, I can talk to people I would never have met, hear new songs and live free of those bonds that so constricted me. May this year be as fruitful as the last.

I have no idea what to name my four kittens, so I named them Fir, Ever, Green, and Tea. Not very creative on my part, but I gave them different colored collars to mark them apart.

How long I'll make my stay here, I will never know, but I hope Martel, my sister would be strong enough to carry out our ideals without me.

EDIT, 1/5/07: I realized it was impossible to fix the panpipes without the nuts from the Linkite Tree since it was what the panpipes was made of. Therefore, I changed it that Mithos received his panpipes back as a good as new.
