Meditation seems fruitless lately. I feel so out of touch with the gods. I've wondered what they might think, knowing one of their Ascended disappeared in a time of need, in a time of fighting off the Charr and their.... something. Gods-forsaken castle! I just pray that the others are well, that Dwayna keep them safe, Balthazar grant them the strenght to survive. With that they'll be fine. Cynn'll roast things, Devona will bash in the remaining survivors, Eve'll make minions out of their charred bodies, and Aidan will make sure they don't get lost.

Anyone up for adventuring in the surroundings or collecting herbs? I think I'm getting cabin-fever.
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
So tomorrow is the ball. Thankfully I found Terra to accompany me.
Let's hope nothing goes wrong.

And I'm still not wearing shoes to this.

[ooc: this means, i made it home, off the flight, and it didn't flood XD]
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
Finding a date, even a platonic one, for this dance is near impossible. I'd be happy to accompany anyone, still.

Perhaps some of the clinic staff should be on hand in case something happens. Somehow I doubt the Headmaster would mind if I went alone to be there as emergency staff.... Why do I keep thinking that? It's not like this guy is Master Togo.

[Clinic staff filter;] )

.... there is a whispy following me now. I believe it may be a ghost as it seems to have a humanesque form. And it appears to be waving at me. ["Hello there, ghost."]
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
A ball hmm. A yule-tide ball, nonetheless. I suppose I shall attend to honor Gryffindor. .....Why do I keep thinking that?

And having a date seems required. I haven't thought about something like that, especially not with Cynn around. I suppose that a vow of celibacy will also do that to one's mind. With that in mind, I do need to find someone. I have never really danced, but I'm always willing to learn a new skill.

Would anyone accompany me?

The more I hear about this "Quiddich" tournament, the more it sounds like the PvP arenas in Ascalon or the Zaishen tournaments of the Battle Isles, which most likely means there's going to be lots of injuries. I suppose being there as a medic will probably be useful. When is this Quiddich tournament supposed to take place?

..... Has anyone looked into the mirror today? I swear I saw the Ascalon Settlement and[recorded abruptly] " wait....Master Togo?! No, that's.... that's not possible.....
Wait, I'm.... I'm....."

I'll be in the clinic (4th floor) burying myself in a book if anyone needs me.
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
Well this is more of how Ascalon was, just a bit... taller. Reminds me of Ashford Academy almost. This place has more magic in it than most of Tyria and is confusing as the Catacombs under the Academy. Even worse than the Undercity.

Anyway, the clinic will be on the fourth floor. It's much larger and more intricate than our previous one. Seems magic is a bit different this time, requiring a wand (I haven't used one of those since I started magic) and words to heal. Fortunately the library details various magics. I've never done any magic like this before, only healing and smiting, and I don't need a skill trainer to learn them. This might be the most interesting transformation so far.

And no, I will not be wearing shoes, although that cloak, maybe.

[ooc: i'm assuming they have the house uniforms in their closet. and mhenlo's gryffindor]
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
Fireworks. Reminds me of how the Canthans celebrate.
Behnu ra fannkuujai. Dwayna ja singka.
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
Wintersday is upon us. I do wonder who will win this year: Dwayna or Grenth. I do hope the warm loving touch of Dwayna wins this year and we see an early spring.

The random bouts of violence seem to have ended. Thank Dwayna it wasn't as bad as that plague last month. Let's hope that nothing like that ever happens again. The clinic is stocked this time. Perhaps we should find more medics and healers, helpers even. Perhaps I'm overthinking this again. This isn't Tyria, although this place has enough problems to be so. We're just missing the 200 year old assassin ghost attempting to kill off the population of Cantha.

Why do I have the uncanny feeling that something's about to go wrong?
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
Huh. I suppose I didn't notice it earlier but several of my Canthan scrolls showed up here. I was certain I had lost these during the Searing. Perhaps that's a result of this castle's rare giving. It is Wintersday, after all.

It's definitely nice to have a piece of home with me. I'm almost missing Cynn.
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
Thank you to all who sent me gifts for Wintersday, even if the festival isnt for another 6 days. This is, of course, assuming this place runs on a calendar similar to Tyria.

These books and fragrance will be put to good use.
The odd ball I'm not sure what to do with.
And Aang, any time you want to adventure, I'm up for it.

I do hope people enjoyed the candy canes.
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
All this snow reminds me of Wintersday, the one time a year when the cold fingers of Grenth reach out and blanket much of Tyria with snow. I do wonder who will win the great battle: Grenth, so that winter lasts months longer, or Dwayna, so that the warmth of spring returns soon. I do wonder how the outcome of this battle will affect a place so far from Tyria as this.

Clinic duties and other need for healing aside, I think I'll go out and make snowmen to empower Dwayna and ward off the Humbugs and Grentches. Perhaps I can find some magical items to make Brrrls to protect the castle.

Anyone care to join me?

[ooc: what mhenlo's talking about is an actual quest in guild wars. i ran it this morning i am absolutely not making this up. XD]
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
By the gods' mercy, what is going on? My staff will not stop... well, for lack of better descriptions, being affectionate. This makes healing very very difficult. At least I still can use Healing Touch.

I hope this is another one of the castle's annoying pranks.
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
Well now that the effects of the plague seem to be wearing down and no sign of Shiro Tagachi (thank the gods), hopefully everything will be returning to normal shortly. Being as such, we should start up the herbal medicine class again, seeming that we've only had one meeting. If more plagues and sicknesses arise, being prepared could be the difference between survival and total obliteration. I'd prefer to be prepared.

I can only hope all four of my students survived the plague.

Aang and company, would you like to quest again? I'd like to go out and retrieve some more herbs. The ones the castle gives just aren't as sufficient as the naturally grown ones.
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
Hopefully everyone is feeling better now. It's sad we lost some people during that. To think that a res bind would hit at that time. I do hope their souls rest peacefully within the Mists.

And now to rest. It's been a long two weeks.
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
I couldn't save her or any of them. It's as if there's a constant interrupt on all of them. Ressurect, Rebirth, Life, all of them have been disabled. No ability to ressurect or return an ally to life. Just when I thought the gods couldn't forsake this place anymore, they have once again outdone themselves. The gods of this place have distasteful timing.

Dwayna, if my prayers could only reach you, please protect those who are still alive.

[ooc: yeah, this was supposed to be yesterday, but alas, i'm late. i came down with the plague sickness D:]
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
This is not looking good.

Anyone well enough to lend a helping hand, please do.
Getting supplies, helping people to the clinic, anything.

We'll need all the help we can get if we wish to survive.
We have to pull together.
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
How wonderful. A plague. This is far too reminiscent of Cantha. As soon as I see Afflicted, I'll know who's the cause of this all. But surely, killing Shiro Tagachi again, there's no way he could return this time. Certainly this forsaken place wouldn't set another problem upon us so quickly after that jungle, although honestly, I would not put it past this place.

Seems the clinic was rebuilt just in time. Hopefully this is not like the Affliction and is curable, and not by some fraudulent cure those Am Fah had. We'll have to see how long we last before the clinic staff falls ill too.

[*cough*]

Dammit.
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
After much work, I believe the clinic is finally back in normal condition. The ghosts here are very helpful in retrieving items and such. There are medicines, bandages, clean dry beds. I've managed to find the tools scattered about the place. Fortunately they didn't float away in the flash flood. I'm certain I'm forgetting a few things.

Either way, Sakura and I do appreciate anyone who wishes to volunteer their time to help out, extend a hand to those in medical need.

[ooc: check out Sakura's post about the clinic staffing :D]
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
If time travels the same here as in Tyria, it should be getting close to the Canthan month of Songtan. Perhaps a quarter month left until it happens.

The herbal medicine class will be starting up again soon. All four of you are still here, right?
It's almost a pity that jungle didn't stay around for a bit longer. I would have liked to collected more plants and berries to test their potency for remedies, especially with this sudden epidemic of coughs and sniffles. Almost wishing the Canthan nong berries grew around here. They were such a good plant for remedies.

And curiosity does ask, now that Isshin has disappeared, who is in charge of the clinic?
May Dwayna protect him, wherever he is.
[identity profile] brother-mhenlo.livejournal.com
I don't believe I've ever been so pleased to see my staves in a pile on my bed. Nice to see my backpack and all the glass vials inside returned and in one piece, no less. The magic of this castle is amazing, although twisted and rather sadistic.

Regardless, classes should be resuming soon, given the flooding hasn't drowned the native plant-life.

Hopefully the clinic isn't waterlogged either.

Now to find that scroll.

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
