What: It's a Wine Tasting at the Lux
When: Saturday Evening
Where: The Lux.
Sugarplum Fairies: PLENTY.
Notes: ANYONE is welcome. Prose or brackets. I'm just having Katherine start it off, but feel free to have your very own thread. This is a party-post of sorts. It's at the Lux and there are plenty of wines and platters of small bits of food that are meant to accentuate the flavor of the wine. Cheese, Chocolate, Fruits... etc.



The Lux isn't Katherine's first choice of social locations, but it does have the luxury of being somewhere that has been deemed as off-limits for the Salvatore brothers. She'd put the math together through the journals and from over-hearing conversations of employees and the ghosts. Such gossips. She'd already resolved to go to that Speed Dating thing, just trying to make some effort to figure out just who all was in this place and just how vulnerable some of them were.

For the moment, she's milling through the crowd, glass in hand, and keeping an eye on everyone. She's fully capable of slipping by most of them undetected. Knowing that her speed would easily put her out of anyone's line of sight if she didn't want to be seen. Tonight though, she wasn't planning on shying away from too many of them.

"I suppose when you live in a magical castle that can grant you anything you wish -- having a variety isn't really as much trouble as it normally is."

Magic did seem to grease the wheels rather easily around here. Neal wasn't sure how he felt about that yet, either.

"I suppose not. There's something lost in that, just wishing what you want to have instead of earning it though."

Lilah had thought that many times, here. She had many pretty things at home, expensive things, and while she could wish them up here, they didn't hold the same weight because she had earned them. Anyone could wish for them.

"It does take a bit of fun out of it. The unattainable suddenly becomes attainable and it loses some of it's allure." He poured himself a glass of one of the wines, before offering it to her. "I try to avoid wishing for that reason."

[succubitch]

"As do I," She said, graciously taking the glass from him. Which was more or less true. Even though she could emulate the life she had at home, wishing up all the nice, expensive things she wanted it didn't feel the same. Gave her little satisfaction.

He nodded. "Besides. Wishing clearly has a consequence, given the whole loss mess." He still wishes his would change.

[succubitch]

"Exactly. And the Castle likes to cause problems anyways, no reason to give it more ammunition to do so," She said with a nod of her own head.

"Most people don't think that way," he said, pouring his own glass before turning to face her. "I suppose they're just not accustomed to looking for the angles."

[succubitch]

"Probably not." She agreed. She brought her glass to her lips, taking a drink. "It's nice to talk to someone else who does, though."

He raised an eyebrow a bit, and watched her for a moment, considering. "Because it's something we have in common, or because it's a better way to see the world."

[succubitch]

"A bit of both," She replied, after thinking about it for a moment.

He shrugged. "Personally, I don't like to be cynical all the time, but there's some things you have to be smart about."

[succubitch]

"Exactly. Optimism is nice, but sometimes it can mislead you. There are definitely times where it's important to play things smart, see things as they really are," She said.

[alias_savant]

"It's important not to get too jaded, however. Seeing things as they are too often can end in your losing out on some things as well. It's hard to balance."

[succubitch]

"Balance is always important to have, in almost all areas in life." Of course, Lilah probably fell into the too jaded category herself, but that's just the way she was.

For some people, too jaded worked for them. Neal, on the other hand, was too much of a romantic to ever really get "too jaded." He needed to believe in something -- romance was it.

"I couldn't agree more."

[succubitch]

Lilah believed in something -- herself. Anything else was bound to let you down, especially romance.

"I don't think I've met you before," She said, offering him a smile. "Lilah Morgan."

He smiled back as he turned to extend a hand. "Neal Caffrey."

[succubitch]

She took his hand, shaking it. "A pleasure."

[alias_savant]

"Likewise. Have you been in the castle long?"

[succubitch]

"Almost a year now." Which seemed almost strange to say out loud, but it didn't make it any less true.

He nodded a bit. "I just passed my year anniversary yesterday."

[succubitch]

"Mine will be next month," She volunteered in return.

[alias_savant]

"It's a little unsettling. I've never stayed somewhere this long without an agenda before."

[succubitch]

"Neither have I." It wasn't a lie. Sure, she had been in Los Angeles for years now, but she sure as hell had an agenda there.

He smirked. "Still. I can't say I'm complaining. I've met some very interesting people."
