Diwali is living up to it’s name today. The lights are everywhere today both outside and in.  Stands of candles line the lobby like a temple and lanterns hang from the very ceiling. Everywhere there is light.

Today, however, you can add new smells and sounds to the list as well. Music drifts through the air into the lobby, along with the fragrant, spice filled scents of foods and sweets.

Anyone who wanders into the dining (gasp, it's actually being used for it's intented purpose!), will find a veritable feast (http://www.lovingyourchild.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/diwali-feast.jpg) laid out on tables near the edges of the room, glorious both in their bounty and in the light of, you guessed it, even more lamps (http://www.blogcdn.com/news.holidash.com/media/2010/10/diwali10-19-10hlqsansharma.jpg). You can find any traditional Indian food here, along with an equal quantity of sweet treats (http://www.tripodgirl.com/images/2008_4/TripodGirl_diwali_sweets1_500.jpg) you might never have laid eyes on.

The air is rich with the smell of hanging flowers (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3_2FCxXqZPQ/S-rc-wM4gzI/AAAAAAAAOW0/yM0AhjF4J0Y/s1600/Diwali-Toran-Wallpapers.JPG), along with a music that seems to have no source. The middle of the dining room is cleared of tables, so maybe the castle is hoping for you to dance.

Alleria is wandering among the tables, dressed appropriately (http://i.imgur.com/L1iow.jpg), her golden hair piled atop her head and fastened into place with flowers and pins. She still has a sword at her hip, however; just because this is a peaceful gathering does not mean it couldn't suddenly change.

She seems to be enjoying the scent of flowers and the seemingly magically-derived music, as it reminds her of her home and its capital city. The only thing that is missing are brooms that move of their own accord and a few stray cats here or there.

She's lingering near the sweets, simply taking in the sights and sampling the food every now and then.

Aziraphale has somehow managed to customise his outfit, it's the traditional cut and colour, though in a rather fetching angora wool cloth. One must be certain to wrap up warm now that the chill of Autumn was properly setting in.

Smiling when he saw an old friend he hadn't spoken to in too long, he walked over and gestured expansively.

"What a sight for sore eyes, Miss Windrunner, truly lovely."

Colette is also dressed up (http://www.theindianwear.com/images/AK6019B.jpg), although she's obviously taking great care to hold her skirt up so she doesn't step on the hem. In her other hand she's holding what looks like a fruity Indian sweet, although she wouldn't know the name if asked.

With so many beautiful things to look at, it takes Colette a moment to notice Alleria, but once she does she quickly waves with the hand that's holding the sweet treat and hurries over to greet her friend. "Alleria, hello!"

Where there is food, there is a small dragon. Spike has never seen such delicious treats before. It almost puts the fine food of Canterlot to shame. Steering clear of the meat dishes, of course, he quite happily munches his way through the feast laid out, trying a bit of everything.

And of course he isn't wearing the fancy clothes. Dragons don't wear clothes, silly

When Hinata decided to check out the dining rooms and the sweets, she wasn't expecting to see a dragon eating his way through most of it. The only dragon she knows is black and kind of goofy and would probably be sticking to the meats.

She hangs back behind him, wondering if she could manage to grab something without notice. Or if she should even try. Or if she should even be behind him. The last time she startled a dragon is still fresh in her mind.

"Um," she says very softly, fingers tapping against her bottom lip. At least she can say she tried to not startle him.

Allen, no matter what his own religion was, could appreciate any holiday or tradition that entailed a great amount of food. As such, he'll be happily sitting at one of the tables, dressed appropriately (http://i.imgur.com/Z3lRQ.jpg) for the event...and scarfing down any non-meat dishes he can get his hands on very happily.

Colette was considering all the food carefully, but she seems hesitant to take any. It's likely because her dress (http://www.theindianwear.com/images/AK6019B.jpg) still doesn't have anything spilled on it, and it seems she wants to keep it that way.

Luckily, when she sees Allen that gives her something else to consider. So she quickly hurries over and waves, "Allen!"

It had taken all of Willow's help to get the little girl dressed in her new clothes (http://product-image.tradeindia.com/00540715/b/2/Baby-Sarees.jpg), and as she wove her way through the press of people in the ballroom it was a miracle she didn't trip on the edge of the fabric more often.

Everything is stared at with wide, wondering eyes. The lights, the flowers...and the food... it all demands the close, awed observation of the miniature artist. After she's managed to explore to her heart's content, though, she ends up lingering near the desert table, staring hungrily at the sweets. She hasn't worked up the courage to take one, yet, and she doesn't dare ask if it's alright (for fear of being told no), but she's up on tip-toes, peeking at it all.

Allen spots the sight of the young girl peeking at the food, and can't help but smile at the cute of it all. He'll smile a little at her.

If there was one thing Kaylee loved about the castle's crazy world changes, it was the food. The food and the clothes. (http://www.cbazaar.com/images/prd_img_b/Pretty-Pink-Saree-SAMT708A-b.jpg)

Never mind that feasts and celebrations had a 50/50 chance of turning into nightmares...that buffet already has her beaming from ear to ear as she overfills a plate with all the kinds of food she can find...minus fruit.

Steve takes his time looking over all the dishes. It goes without saying Indian food and traditions were not exactly in abundance in Brooklyn. It's a new experience and worth appreciating. Most importantly, he needs this to be a good distraction after his last conversation with Bucky.

As dusk creeps in over Paradisa, the peace is shattered by sharps sounds of explosions. Don't worry, residents, you aren't under attack. Those are the sounds of firecrackers being set of in the distance.

It seems the Diwali celebrations have spread to town. Children run about on the main street, laughing and dancing about with sparklers (http://outernationalist.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/children-diwali.jpg), almost beckoning you to come out and play.

As dark settles in, you'll soon see why, as the skies over Paradisa explode with a tremendous fireworks display (http://www.vedicodyssey.com/images/blog/2010-blog/101104-golden-temple-diwali/01-golden-temple-diwali.jpg).

Okay, so it sounded like a really weird holiday, but at least she could admit it was pretty.

After having a wonderful meal at the feast, Vivian wanders outside to see the fireworks display. She had been looking forward to them all evening and now she could watch in awe under the beautiful night shy.

She's decided to be traditional and wear this after finding it in her wardrobe. Vivian had fallen in love the first time she laid eyes on it.

Sated from the feast, Kaylee had allowed herself to follow the crowd into town, too caught up in the fun of the celebration to worry about being away from the castle at dark. As the fireworks explode overhead, she carefully arranges the fabric of her saree (http://paradisalogs.livejournal.com/716389.html?thread=15824485#t15824485) so she can sit on a curb, smiling at the lights and the high pitched cries of the children as they react to the sparkling colors. Perfect.

Gibson's been wearing a huge grin these past few days as the lights started appearing everywhere. He can't help it - in his world, lights are on virtually every surface, and he's found the dull opaqueness of things here discomfiting and odd. Even if the colors are a little too much in the red spectrum for him to like, though, this is a lot more like home.

He's dressed in a slight variation of a traditional outfit; as with all of his clothing, it has green circuits in patterns and along the edges. The fireworks aren't quite as geometric as the ones on the Grid, perhaps, but he's no stranger to them.

Of course the night Bucky finally decides to check out the outside of the castle and the town there are fireworks and people with firecrackers.

Now he's wandering the streets, hands deep in his pockets, trying not to flinch noticeably every time there's a loud bang. They remind him a little bit too much of bombs and gunfire. Not like that's going to stop him from roaming around, though. He's too stubborn not to.

Elektra (http://www.theindianwear.com/images/HF2119.jpg) takes in the sight of fireworks and sparklers with a small smile as she walks home from the Candy Bonsai. For once she's willingly wearing the festive clothes provided by the castle.

This holiday agrees with her far more than the Day of the Dead festivities last year.

That's the sound of Katara yelping as the sparkler she was holding burns her -- and that's the sound of it flying through the air as she chucks it reflexively in a random direction.

Though...he seemed to be looking a bit more at the crowds, particularly the female ones, than the actual fireworks....

Once the fireworks started, Maya went to find the most comfortable patch of empty grass that she could find and just decided to lay there. Despite the fact that her dress (http://images.plurk.com/b0ea141bb311debb14c550a846b8a0b4.jpg) was probably really expensive back home, she figured it was okay to risk grass stains for such a great view of the sky. Taking a deep breath she closes her eyes for half a second and smiles at something far away, like an old memory of festivals and fireworks. But then a second later she's sitting up again, cheering for the gorgeous fireworks overhead!

Feel free to give her a weird look for it, she is pretty out there.
