Who: All of Paradisa! That means YOU
What: Feasts and fireworks, oh my!
When: The third day of Diwali; Friday, Oct. 28th
Where: Everywhere (though just the ballroom for the feast)
Rating: Um, not more than PG? This is a family holiday, guys, come on...

Diwali is living up to it’s name today. The lights are everywhere today both outside and in.  Stands of candles line the lobby like a temple and lanterns hang from the very ceiling. Everywhere there is light.

Today, however, you can add new smells and sounds to the list as well. Music drifts through the air into the lobby, along with the fragrant, spice filled scents of foods and sweets.

Okay, so I figure while it's cold like this, I should get one of my favourite winter hobbies squeezed in.

I like ice skating, but I'm not too sure if the pond's got ice that's thick enough, or how to test for that. The town out there looks pretty old fashioned too, so I'm not sure they have a skating rink...Does anybody know for sure on either of these?

[A considering pause] And if I find somewhere, does anyone want to join me?

[Being dropped quite literally into Paradisa, she stumbles a few steps, before looking at her surroundings in disbelief] This wasn't supposed to happen. Maybe...[A pause] Clark? What did you do?

[When she doesn't get an immediate response, she'll try to teleport out, only to end up in the courtyard] ...Well, I can't say that's ever happened before...

[Coming back to life apparently isn't as dramatic as it sounds. She wakes up with a sharp gasp and with the urge to keep screaming, but that's about it. Everything else is apparently as it should be. The first thing she checks is the lead bracelet still firmly attached to her wrist, and then the journal. Her voice sounds a little strained, like she's trying too hard to keep it even]

So...I think I'm now thoroughly convinced that doctors should be avoided whenever possible.

[Step, step, step, step. A swish of a knee-length lab coat. A warm, pleasant voice that sounds as though it belongs to a man in his forties, dictates:]

Good evening, castle. My name is Dr. Albrecht Winston Cabot, but please, just call me Al. [a chuckle]. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I've come to the grave realization that the people of this castle need immediate medical attention. But fret not, ladies and gentlemen. For the remainder of my stay, I will be available for check-ups and treatments at all hours of the day. My services are limited, and, to be quite frank, I'm a little daunted by the task ahead of me. But please, don't let that trouble you. I will try to accommodate for as many patients as I can each day.

[Well, that's a little odd and bears investigation. During her entire stay here, Alicia has never had the pleasure of someone dictating directly outside of her room before. She'll poke her head out curiously, but opt not to interrupt him]

... Ah. In fact, I think I can begin my rounds right away. Good evening, young lady. I believe you're in need of a check-up.

[Steps out into the hall and grins] Evening. I wasn't aware that the clinic offered door to door services, definitely wasn't included in my introduction. I'm going to have to pass though, I feel perfectly fine.

Don't worry. It will only hurt for a moment.

You know, all the good doctors lie and say it won't hurt a- [She'll back up a step or two, completely startled and then start screaming]

[The sound of something very large and very sharp making its way through her upper body. There's a sharp inhalation and a desperate choke, followed by small gagging sounds before her body drops to the floor with a muffled thump]

... I'm sorry, child, did I surprise you? Well, hang in there; I'll fix you up post-haste.

[Slicing sounds. By the time anyone gets there, the doctor will be gone and her body will be, uh, all over the place.]

Alright, I'm sort of curious. These permanent losses, I didn't get a real good explanation on them. Exactly how permanent are they, does anyone know? I know people can leave and come back, so are they always the same? Or do they change?

[Clark is stirring, and a bleary look around the room confirms that, yes, it is still night time. He moves to roll over and get comfortable again, but then.

Louder than he intends:]

Woah! What are you doing in here, Alicia?!

[Well, hearing that the rain has been a constant fixture in Paradisa of late, Alicia has decided to take advantage of the good weather while she can. Which means, dragging Clark up the roof for some stargazing. After all, the science geek in her wouldn't shut up about getting to see brand new constellations first hand. If the promised outing was a little less platonic than he probably intended? Eh, all the more fun. She's currently sitting on the picnic blanket, library provided star maps spread around her]

You know, I thought it would be a lot easier to find them.

...Come on Clark, if you wanted to apologize, you could have just done it, you didn't need to do all this for me.

[After she doesn't get a response, or see him pop out anywhere, there's the sound of attempted teleporting, and that definitely failing]

...This can't seriously be happening. Clark!

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
