We did great today, guys. And we should be really proud of ourselves. Kids and adults. We dealt with the creepy bad guy and won. I bet he won't show his creepy face around here again. And no one even got hurt. That’s pretty awesome, right?

[Wybie’s not slept for the last few nights, and it’s got nothing to do with the nightmares. He’s still staying with Coraline in her room, trying his best to keep her safe. This whole mess...it’s hitting way too close to home for him, and even though all evidence suggests something else is behind this, he figures it can’t hurt giving a little information up]

I...don't know if this is the same thing, but...I uh...figured it might help. There’s a creature in our world...me and Coraline’s, that steals kids away. Adults can’t see her, and she just...whisks them away to this Other World, to convince them to stay with her forever. She took my great aunt when she was just a kid, and she tried to take Coraline, too.

She’s called the Beldam, sometimes the Other Mother, she can change her form and she’s bad news. She takes kids away and eats their...

[He trails off, as if something has interrupted his train of thought]

How did you...

[Another pause, then, louder]

Coraline, get...get outta here it’s gonna-

[There’s a gasp, then nothing. One more kid down, folks]

[Outside the castle is a really long table with many, MANY pies on top. There are lots of different kinds to choose from and they are very delicious. Eddy picks up a megaphone and speaks into it. And yes, he has his journal next to him so EVERYONE can hear about this. Wybie and Coraline may have to make some apologies to some grumpy costumers.]

[Wybie found himself upside down in a bush in the garden on his return to the castle. To say it’s been a week of suck would be an understatement, so he’s decided to run to the one place where he knows he’s absolutely, without question, SAFE.

Yeah. That idea didn’t work. He’s just sitting on the floor across from what was Rorschachs room, his chin resting on his knees as he tries desperately not to cry. He’ll still dictate miserably into the journal. Avoiding facing the music is no longer an option]

For anyone who cares, Rorschach’s gone home.

[Someone's in the library, flipping through books. And he's found something interesting he feels the need to share with you all]

Did you know an orang-utan escaped from it's zoo enclosure once by crawling through some air vents, then sliding a wire through a gap to unhook the latch keeping it shut? And you know the kicker? It hid its piece of wire between its lips and its gums so the keepers wouldn't find it.

How cool is that? I bet some humans don't even think that up.

[Wybie's doodled something that looks like this in the corner of his journal]

Did you know you can create a fire tornado with just a lighter-fuel soaked sponge, a dish, a lazy Susan and a tube of wire screen?

You just put the sponge in the dish, and put it on the lazy Susan. You set it on fire and put the screen around it and spin it, right? Then you have a fire tornado, because the mesh makes the air molecules around the fire spin. [Laugh] And who says we need school here to learn stuff?

...It kinda looks like fun.

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
