[Someone was observant enough to figure out what was going on with liquids today and avoid getting terribly drunk. Which isn't to say that he's not in a particularly good mood. Which is perhaps why he sounds more amused than anything]

Are there any other annual castle traditions I should be aware of?

[Anyone who happens into this dream will find themselves in a teashop. The Jasmine Dragon, to be specific. It's not open, but it's a good place for a gathering, so there's a small number of people milling about. Zuko's there somewhere, of course, it wouldn't be a dream of home without him. And it's Zuko as Iroh remembers leaving him-happy and at peace with himself. After all, the war and all the conflict-political and personal-that it brought with it was over.

As for Iroh, he can be found mingling like the social butterfly he is. If you show up, chances are you will be treated warmly.]

[OOC: Crash the party. You know you want to.]
[identity profile] pai-sho-master.livejournal.com
[You know, all this talk about Christmas combined with being friends with a number of devout Catholics is enough to make someone curious. So Iroh's nabbed some books from the library and is sitting in the lobby drinking hot chocolate and reading up on Christianity, both theology and history.

It's interesting reading. This is one of the few benefits of this place, really-being able to learn about things that don't exist in your world.

Feel free to comment on his reading selection or distract him.]

[Aside from making a shrine to his son (and experiencing an extreme case of Deja vu), Iroh hasn't been partaking much of the festivities. It's not that he doesn't see the value in celebrating the lives of those passed, rather than mourning their loss; it's just difficult for him to keep up the proper tone-repeatedly getting glimpses of Lu Ten wasn't helping either. On one hand, he was grateful to see him again. On the other, temporary sighting with no real interaction just drove home the separation.

That said, even very sad people get hungry. So he's in the kitchen right now, getting something to eat and looking rather emotionally drained.]
[identity profile] pai-sho-master.livejournal.com
[And, as the festivities of the night wind down, Iroh may be found temporarily paused in the lobby, picking pieces of candy corn out of his beard. The darn stuff gets everywhere, doesn't it?]

I know many have observed that people tend to come and go in groups, especially with others from their world. Has anyone come up with any ideas as to why?

[The wedding is over, the vows have been said, and everyone has adjourned to the wonderful reception area for a night of fun, drinks and dancing.

There are tables lined with food of all sorts, and places to sit and enjoy... there's a bar, once more provided by Caritas, and a huge wedding cake. There's also a dancing floor... and a band made with those multi-talented ghosts.]

[ALL OF THE FOLLOWING IS FORWARD-DATED TO THURSDAY!

the Four Season's Room has been transformed in the early morning hours. there are decorated chairs on the sand, flower petals scattered about and the sound of distant seagulls cawing overhead. the sun is bright... the sand is warm but not too hot, and the ebb and flow of the ocean is a lulling rhythm in the background. a string quartet of ghosts (what? they are of many talents, friends) are playing a soft melody in the background as people mill about.

in short, it's a perfect day!

come one, come all...! invitations went out earlier in the week imploring ALL CASTLE RESIDENTS to join in celebrating this holy matrimony. everyone could use something nice and relaxing to enjoy, right...? even if you don't know the bride and groom, you're more than welcome here.

[There's (yet another) teen wandering around the campus, exploring and, well, getting used to being a teen again. He may look slightly familiar. He's shorter and stockier and minus the scar, of course, but there is a certain resemblance to Zuko. Right now he's sitting on a bench on the school grounds, going over the journal. When he dictates, the voice is different, but recognizable if you know Iroh well enough.]

Well, there are certainly worse things than revisiting one's youth, although I admit it's rather unnerving to be without my bending. [A thoughtful hum] Still, I'll be rather pleased if this is all that the castle has up its sleeves.

So how is everyone adjusting to the sudden change?

[ooc: You know you want to bother the old man in a teenager's body. Run into him or respond over the journal.]

[It's certainly been an interesting few days. Now that Zuko is better, Iroh feels justified in taking some time to relax in the garden. He's writes a few filters in the journal and then justs sits in quiet contemplation.]

[Without his tea, Iroh has been relying a lot more on music to relax. At the moment he can be found in the lobby, playing the Tsungi horn. Feel free to stop and listen or to talk to the musician.

[Unbeknownst to Ashura, his journal lay open in the small pile of clothing he had left folded neatly outside the large circle of burned down grass. He had felt bad, burning it away, but he did not know how far Iroh's control went towards his talent - or, he supposed, the other's bending as it were - and did not want to risk setting the field dangerously afire.

As it was he stood in the circle, stretching, dressed in an armor-less version of his war robes, awaiting the older man. Today was the day he got to duel Iroh, curious as to how their powers matched up what with their differing approaches to fire. It was sure to be interesting.

And broadcasted, though neither of the two men would know it.]

[ooc: The main duel will be between Iroh and Ashura, so no thread jacking that thread! However, they are just outside the castle's walls, so anyone going out to walk to town, go for a ride, get fresh air from the rooftop, etc, will probably be able to see them and is more than welcome to make a comment and talk amongst themselves/spy. It should prove impressive, heh.]

[It has been a very difficult first few days. First, he was magically transported someplace he had never been. Then, just as he was beginning to settle in, Azula arrived. This called for some tea.

He could just wish for tea, of course, but what was the fun in that? So he’s down in the kitchen preparing tea for himself. Unbeknownst to him, his journal is open, about to record the discovery of his loss.

He’s made Ginseng tea. It’s his favorite. He savors the aroma for a few moments before he takes a sip. A few seconds later, far too quickly for it to be a normal allergic reaction, he is insanely itchy and covered in a rash.]

Oh, no! Not tea. Not that! [Hopefully] Maybe it’s just Gensing!

[There’s no time to lose, so this time he wishes for a variety of types of tea. He takes a sip from each one. …And becomes even more itchy and swollen.]

[Very sadly] Oh….I think I have discovered my loss.

After hearing about losses, Iroh decided it would be a good idea to test out his firebending.

He finds a relatively empty spot on the castle grounds and begins to run through a series of firebending forms, culminating in generating lightening and shooting it off harmlessly into the distance.

Hmm.

His bending seems to be fine. Unless he can’t redirect lightening anymore, and he hopes that he never has to test that out.

ooc: It’s a rather impressive display, so feel free to stop and gawk or comment.

[Iroh was very suddenly… not where he was before. Surprised, he drops the tea cup he was holding. After giving the spilt tea a very sad look, he takes in his surroundings. Though he doesn’t know it, his journal is open, recording his musings.]

This is not my tea shop.

[He walks out into the hall and looks around, noting his name on the plaque. He then walks back in the room]

And it’s not Ba Sing Se.

[Noticing the journal, picking it up, and flipping through it.] And this is not an ordinary book.

…Anyone care to tell a weary old man where he is? Not captured, I hope. I thought the end of the war would mean I could finally enjoy my tea and Pai Sho in peace.

The character for "crisis" is made up of both "opportunity" and "danger".

I hope that everyone possible is safe, or getting there.

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
