[Clearing. Patrols. Ambush. I do hope you're all ready.]

[Done! You guys can start organizing. I'll put up an OOC post about what exactly will go down... soon. Very soon. Like in the next twenty minutes. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE.]

[leaving his great coat behind, Jack is standing in the middle of the woods. The area has been scouted out, and it's seemingly going to give them the best tactical advantage. It doesn't look like an ambush at least, despite that it really really is one. It's also far enough away from the rest of the town, that any stragglers that have been dumb enough to stick around won't be distracting to Cabot. Jack starts with the journal open and in his hand, the filtered post already established to be just for Cabot. He knows the rest of the teams are within earshot]

You've already broken the pattern! Cabot! [turns around a bit, making a small circle within that spot in the forest his arms up, the journal folded open to that page so that even if he can't be heard it'll be recorded in the journal]

Why not just start here and now. You want to get to us all! Continue with me!

Who's there?

Tch. [ have what sounds like rushed footsteps and furniture breaking at 'cha. It's not very long until the journal picks up a single gunshot and what sounds like glass shattering... ]

Persona! [ That does him no good as whatever he called forth takes out an entire wall, instead of Cabot. Sadly, before he's able to do anything else, there's a clean slashing sound recorded and a 'thump' to go with it... The slicing noises continue, accompanied with a soft crunching sound as the sword makes its way through flesh and bone. ]

[ ooc: sorry TARDIS folks.. well, the ones that decided to stay. ffffeel free to have seen something blast said wall apart before quickly disappearing ]

[Backdated to back just before midnight. I was at work, sorry.]

[Bela knew stepping outside of the shooting range probably wasn’t the wisest idea in the world, but she needed the air, and she was starting not to care, really, whether or not she survived till the end of this particular castle horror. She could almost use the two week vacation. Really. She could.

Pulling her arms around herself more , she’s standing outside the range, taking a deep breath and just doing her best to keep calm. She just continued to move forward, trying to stay as slow as possible. She wasn’t going far—just far enough.

It isn’t long before she feels it, the subtle change in the room and she knows that she might just be getting her wish]

I thought you’d forgotten something.

[she turns around to face him again, and she knows it’s hopeless to run or try and fight. In fact, she’s not even going to bother]

Well? Get on with it already. [there’s a bit of a self-satisfied smirk, and she can see a flash of someone coming out of the corner of her eye, but she knew he or she wouldn’t get there fast enough. Instead she just raises an eyebrow back at the doctor] I’m not scared of you.

[A lie, but by the time she finishes it doesn’t matter. The sword’s already going through her stomach, and a few quick slices later, and it’s over, her body dropping down to the ground at Cabot’s feet]

She's gone back.

She didn't tell Lorne. Or Angel. Or Cordy. Or any of the new faces she now counts as friends.

She's gone back because --

Well because it's what they do. Or did.

But all the hurt and suffering and unknown of it all's had her sitting on full and formed memories of when they were all back at the hotel. When they'd first rescued her. Each of them so bright and special it hurt to look at them. How the first thing that pulled her back into really living was the idea that she might scrape herself back into a semblance of herself that they might want to spend time with.

And that might somehow make a difference.

The thoughts have been so full now they are pressing up against the back of her throat, and she's choking on them.

So she goes back to the Castle. To look for clues. To find anything that might make a difference. That might make it end. Because it's what they do.

It's what she does.

What she finds?

Is him.

There's the initial scuffle - Fred isn't the sort not to fight for herself, never was -- as her small bag falls to the floor, journal tumbling out and landing open. Right to the pages covered in small, complicated formulas.

She's still fighting, but it's harder now. There's the sound of wet against the journal's surface. She's still quiet though. She was always quiet when it was the hardest. When they wanted to hurt her the most. And briefly she thinks it doesn't hurt that much, not like it did before.

Then she thinks she was wrong.

And then she thinks on nothing at all]

[well Derek wasn't in his room when they all came around to warn people about getting out of the castle, he was in town trying to get some free hair products from a salon, since you know he can endorse it and they'll sell more! Also he hasn't been paying attention to the journal since they are all so loud and messy! He got red stuff all over his white shirt the other day! Regardless it's Derek and he's opened the book CAREFULLY this time hoping nothing pops out at him]

Phew! I thought that it was going to be a pop-up book where the little houses stand up in the pages and you wonder who was small enough to build them!

I thought I should tell you all that I'm really glad it's so quiet here! I mean before it was a lot of running around and people acting like crazy people acting like they were crazy. It wasn't very calming. I don't like stress! It stresses me out!

Now though it's nice and empty! [oh he's in the hallway] Except for that guy. Hello, guy.

I think I'll head outside for a little while. It's a lovely day.

[It's some time past midnight, and Raine is completely unable to sleep. She hadn't been sleeping well these past few days, in any case - anyone who could, in this environment, was either oblivious or already broken beyond repair.

She shivers and pulls her coat tighter around herself. It's cold out here, and they hadn't had anything at all like enough time to prepare for something like this.

She pauses in her thoughts, looking down to the green grass. No, they could never have prepared for something like this.

Colette....

[She sighs and begins pacing back and forth, not really paying attention to her surroundings.

...Which she realizes is a mistake as soon as she realizes that she's been able to sense mana for several steps now. And

that there's someone behind her.

She freezes and turns around slowly, fully expecting what she sees: a tall figure in a lab coat. Raine smiles once, very sadly.
]

I suppose it's my turn, isn't it?

[Yes, Raine. It's your turn.

She tries not to give him the satisfaction of screaming, at least, but she does gasp out in pain before it's done.

Then there's nothing left on the plains except blood and scattered pieces.

[Hallin elected to stay with the "suicide run" at the castle, and she's patrolling to keep an eye out for anyone who might have been left behind, or any clues towards who or what their present serial killer might be. Despite the lessons she took away from the Mandalorian War, sitting safely out of harm's way while innocent lives are in danger still doesn't sit well with her. She ducks into the gym to take a quick look around, as always with one hand on her lightsaber hilt and her thumb on the activation switch.

Maybe if she hadn't lost her connection to the Force, she might have sensed the elusive Doctor Cabot, or at the very least, danger on the horizon--but lose it she did, and when she turns to leave, there's Cabot standing directly behind her]

[she's barely activated the twin golden blades of her saber before she's run through; her hands go slack and the saber instantly powers back down. Cabot pulls his sword out and Hallin drops her saber with a clatter. Blood's bubbling in her throat, but she still tries to kick his sword away--gets a slice to the femoral artery for her trouble--and just like that, she's down and out]

[after a long day of flying, watching over groups, and making patrols where she can, Colette is pretty tired. However, she can be found in the kitchen, making a yummy stew for everyone who has chosen to remain at the castle, or simply hasn't been able to leave yet. She chops a few potatoes, humming to keep spirits high, and happily dumps them into the very large pot. As she wipes her hands on her apron she turns the journal to a clean page]

For anyone still in the castle, I've been making a stew for dinner! Ah, I can make coffee too, or noodles if anyone doesn't like stew. Please let me know what you're hungry for, everyone has been working so hard! Um, actually, if I could get some help with-

[but as she turns towards a cupboard, she gasps sharply. The doctor is suddenly standing right in front of her. She pulls out her chakrams, extends her wings, and throws one, only for it to pass right through him, clattering uselessly on the ground. As she lands with a terrible thud the doctor continues to mutilate her body, finally leaving as silently and swiftly as he came]

[It was sometime in the afternoon when Havoc hastily made her way to the castle, a small brown blanket draped over her shoulders from the night before. Her nerves itched with uneasiness, and it was at that time she wished she had her Tribble for its calming effect.

She needed to get in and convince Mai to come to the dead zone and get out as fast as possible, though... Then she could go back and join Aerith and the others.

Unfortunately her conviction died promptly when she made it into the lobby and saw him standing there alone, his sword at the ready. Her heart pounded in her chest and hers eyes widened with fear, but no sound made it past her lips as she stared at him.

In less than a second he was on her, and in even less than that she'd panicked; her eyes glowing a bright, eerie red as her contracting powers activated subconsciously. As the sword plunged into her body the air in the room was suddenly sucked out by the powerful vacuum that crushed furniture and tore apart walls as it all rushed in to fill the now-empty space.

It had all occurred in less than a second, but the damage to the room--and to Havoc, was done]

[[ooc; mod-approved for the lobby-hurting! Feel free to have anyone staying nearby hear the sudden BOOMING NOISE noise Havoc's vacuum produced? since even a tiny change in pressure in an enclosed space is pretty bad; |3 let's just say the lobby didn't end up quite that bad though]]

[Prompted by an urgent message from Joshua, Neku's left the TARDIS, and is currently running towards the castle's entrance. In the middle of the night, giving a damn about telling anyone. And with an insane, invincible murderer possibly lurking around... not that his mind's really registering all these factors, being under the Composer's Imprinting and all.

The words he heard a moment ago keep replaying in his head and unfortunately, he's too occupied at the moment to enjoy the fact that Joshua can actually sound weak. Or to realize that there's something fishy about "Joshua" and "weak" being in the same sentence.

He stops for a moment to catch breath. The hallway is dark and empty, echoing every little sound.

Quickly making a filter, he asks for the exact location in the town, only to receive silence from the other's side.]

!?... J-Josh, come on...! If you die before I get there, I swear I'll bring you back and kill you again...! [Nevermind the cliché, he isn't going to let that damn Cabot fucker take another friend. Looks like running is the only option now.

If Neku weren't looking into the journal for any response from the other, his chance of dodging the first slash might have been bigger. Not like he even had one to begin with.]

[Wally West is outside the castle, tuning in and out of the Speed Force, looking for Cabot.

Then he stops to whiz on a tree. Because when you gotta go, you gotta go.

When he finishes up his business, Wally pauses. Something isn't right. He activates his speed, everything around him is practically frozen. But not the figure behind him. Just as he is about to turn to look, a slice is made down his back, deep. His words and his scream are fast, to a normal ear it's just a quick noise:]

Ow!!!

[for a split nanosecond, he's thrown out of his speed. Then, without warning, Wally goes right back into it, turns around and barely avoids the next slice, getting a shallow graze across his chest. At faster than light speed, he backs up into the tree, knocking it over and falling onto his back as well.

Cabot is just too fast, however, for Wally to try and get up and the sword goes through his chest several times. He loses touch with the Speed Force completely, and just lies there, for once, completely still.

A few splatters of blood fly onto his journal which was set down nearby as Cabot finishes the job, a final choking cough on blood, then silence.]

[and amidst all the chaos and arguing, Ruby knows that Sam should've put up the wards at the shooting range that first night, so you know she knows the Range is safe. Plus nothing like having the firepower they had - though she heard gunfire through the journal more than once - rock salt might have a better effect if he was a ghost. He smirked as he walked down the last set of stairs to lead him into the castle roof, twirling his sword, the Vanargand, in his hand as he took his sweet time in leaving the castle. Not that he was going to anyway.

He looked up towards the sky before he caught something at the corner of his eye, whirling around, barely in time to dodge a single attack]

Shit! Guess it's time for my appointment--ghk!

[He wasn't so lucky in dodging that time, easily struck in the back as he let out a yell in pain as he collapsed to his knee. Lucian didn't plan to go down without a fight, obviously, gripping his sword tightly and swinging it in an arch and turning his waist to face his attacker at the same time... only to lose that arm as the other blade cut cleanly through it, following up and striking Lucian in the side of the face, cutting his only visible eye. The loud 'clang' of the Vanargand hitting the roof rung out through the journals, as Lucian cursed in sheer pain then. He knew it was a fight he couldn't win anyway, besides, no one would miss him, right?]

[slight shrug]  Yeah. That TARDIS place sounds safe, I think. Let's go there.

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
