[Lois had to admit: finding her journal just lying around waiting for her in the random forest was creepy.  It had 'trap' written all over it.  But she wasn't about to complain.  Yet.

The first part of the entry is a recording:]

This is Lois Lane, and I'm with Lucy Saxon and Jo Harvelle.  We're all in one piece, though currently about eight degrees left of lost in the middle of nowhere.  We haven't seen any landmarks yet, but we've been sending up signals where we can, so those of you patrolling keep your eyes on the skies.   According to Clark's stick trick, we're northeast of the castle somewhere.

More importantly, we ran into some... people out here.

People from ... the town, that is.  I think they got dumped out here too, so whatever took us wasn't just doing it to castle residents.  They weren't exactly the best conversationalists, given that they were practically talking in tongues, tripping over themselves to run back towards the castle and muttering stuff about how they needed to get there right now or else.  "Or else what" we couldn't get out of them, because they got physical anytime we tried to restrain them to even talk to them.  I'm thinking they've got that same pull we do towards the place, but theirs seems to be amped up to 800.   Maybe someone should keep an eye out around the town for when they start getting back.  You might be able to get more out of them then.  [Assuming they make it back alive and don't run stupidly into a tree or something.]

And hey, Akihiko, you better not have been beating yourself up over me disappearing.  That one was all me.  [Do you hear that, Clark?  Don't blame him.  :|  ]

... Not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet, so I'm curious to hear from the other people it happened to, but it sure felt like something had dropped us when we woke up.

[handwriting takes over then; it's jittery because Lucy's hand is shaking from the cold. November + outdoors + pajamas = incipient hypothermia]

I was taken in the morning, but I didn't wake up in the Dead Zone until nearly nightfall. I don't know if that's important at all, but I thought it would be worth mentioning too.

[Jo waits until Lucy is done and when the journal is handed to her, she balances it on her knee, holding it in place with her sprained wrist as she crouches low to the ground]

I was taken on Friday, right out’a the damn walk-in at the Lux. Last time I had checked the time it was about four-thirty, but I woke-up to pitch-black night. I tried to look for any of the other missing people… but I only found Lucy and Lois. [she won’t be mentioning that she is injured and she sure as Hell isn’t broadcasting that she killed an eight-legged sheep to survive either…]

I’m fine, though. [Sam, you can breathe now.] Just a bit worn out and ready for my wilderness adventure to be done.

[great. just great. Jo manages to get the castle to cooperate on ONE thing and then it does THIS to her.

Shrine built and set-up? Check.
Offering to Ellen? Check.
Offering to Bill? Check.
Offering to Ash? Check.
Offering to Dean? Check.
Offering to Sam? Check... seriously... why is everyone dead?

It's not that she minded doing it, because she liked the idea of honoring them, in fact it reminded her again that she needed to write a letter to her mom. This was just not what she needed today.

She shuts the door to HER room (inside her room, inside the castle) and opens the journal to dictate:]

So... it's just a few days, right? I can deal with a few days.

Just to be sure though, there isn't some Paradisa confusion going on where this is a week-long thing, right?

[Jo made sure to send Halloween Pumpkin Buckets to all the kids in the castle, with some "starter" candy and an invitation to go Trick-or-Treating on the 31st Starting at 4PM. She made sure they knew to wear a costume and to meet her in the lobby.

She's waiting in the lobby for anyone that had wanted to go with Trick-or-Treating. Choosing to go as a Bee, Jo figured that it was kid-friendly enough.

Now she was just waiting for everyone to show up!]

[To Adults in the Castle]

Is anyone here in the castle planning on handing out candy on Sunday if the kids go around Trick-or-Treating?

I am offering to walk around with some of the younger ones, so I wanted to know if we should stick to the castle or head to the city. I know Eliot has something planned -- at least last I heard he did -- for the Lux. I figured, we could just start at the top and work our way down to the Lux?

It'd be sort of neat for the kids that don't even know what Halloween is.

If anyone else wants to help me, that'd be cool. I'm not even sure how many kids are here, to be honest.

[To the Kids in the Castle]

If anyone wants to go Trick-or-Treating on Sunday, let me know. I'm more than willing to take as many of you around that want to go.

If you need help with costumes, too, I'm really good at what scary monsters are supposed to look like.

My name's Jo, in case we've never talked before.

[maybe, since Jo got off her loss she's been sleeping -- a lot, it's possible she's even grown fond of calling in and wearing her pajamas all day, because she can. However, even she feels a bit guilty for not being responsible]

Alright, I guess I should return to the land of the productive and employed. 'Least I hope I'm still employed.

[thinky face... as she hums, then sighs] 'Course I'm still employed, unless there's been a huge hiring spree at the Lux.

Could there be a hiring spree at the Lux? Not that I mind the people I work with, but there ain't a lot of us.

[once more, she's back at the castle, trying to deal with this 'interesting' loss]

I know there's people here that have these special abilities and all that, but were you all born with them? 'Cause I kinda woke up with them, since the castle has a hilarious sense of humor.

It's just hard to adjust. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips?

[she wasn't sleeping, just... resting her eyes and then suddenly, the back kitchen where she'd been mopping suddenly smelled... kinda rank and the flannel shirt she was wearing felt like she was wearing a wool coat]

Holy crap.

[peeling that layer off, she started to use the journal for a fan, sorry folks, but she'll stop to dictate to everyone]

Okay. I think something's wrong with the heat in the Lux. Anyone here know how the heck to turn down a thermostat of a place that doesn't have a thermostat?

[Jo is at the Lux, as usual, still contemplating moving back to the castle, but each time the world changes she's really glad she doesn't have to sleep here at night. Eliot's in the kitchen - but he keeps LOOKING at her and it's unnerving her]

Anyone need a job? Not that I don't love the constant hours - but the Lux could really use a hand now and again. [a thoughtful sigh]

[she's in her apartment in the city, flipping through the journal, catching up on the day's events]

Crossword puzzle... [flips and glances up] Time for walks, kids. [said to Cooper and Alice, she shakes the leash and continues walking toward the bedroom where she figures there's a GIANT Saint Bernard asleep on her bed, aka Sam on a loss, as usual]

Blood.. oh, crap... [skims the transcript and is concerned that she hadn't noticed this earlier, and she'll make sure to read up on what happened on the walk]

C'mon, Sam time for [stops in the door way with the journal and glances up] a wa--HOLYMOTHEROF--

[drops the journal and turns around, probably turning bright red]

Sometimes, the oddest things just pop into my head.

One of the late nite TV shows used to do stupid human tricks and here, I mean, this castle has people that don't necessarily consider their 'tricks' to be stupid, but there have to be some really random ones, right?

I can tie my shoes while standing on one foot. Unsupported. It's just good balance, but it's not useless or anything.

I can hang a spoon off my nose - which, yeah, ain't gonna do me much good.

Anyone else feel like sharing?

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
