Cue Rocky Montage

Who: Hesam ([livejournal.com profile] hesam_bb), People That Agreed To Train Him. Also open to all who might be passing by or acknowledge he's looking for some butt-kicking classes.
What: Hesam wanting to learn more self-defense to avoid almost being killed again.
When: After his request for training - the exact time and day is up to everyone else's schedule
Where: The gym, outside, anywhere with space to practice fighting skillz

Hesam felt a lot better after making the first step of asking for help. He was pretty nervous about inviting people to potentially kick him around but he was sick of feeling so outmatched. Especially with the memory of almost dying stuck on a loop in his head. The gun lessons from Zoe had helped but he couldn't rely on a gun to be in reach at all times.

If he got attacked in the clinic again, there wouldn't be a gun to save him. He couldn't keep depending on his super powered friends to help either.

So, time to learn how to at least put up a fight. He knew he looked like he hadn't slept for a while and possibly not strong enough to start but he was sure after a few rounds and lessons he would be more confident. Being less paranoid would help the non-sleeping thing too.

He stood waiting for his new teacher to meet him at the place they agreed to and tried not to look too twitchy.

First thing to learn is blocking. [She holds her arms up in a defensive position, feet a little wider than shoulder width.] You want your arms in close, but not too close that a hit will still make contact with you.

Your body's designed to take hits, if they're to the right places. Your arms have enough spring and muscle padding to keep anything from breaking if you block right.

That. [She gestures to his stance.] Needs to tighten up. Think of what you should be protecting in a fight.

Your arms are mobile. They're there to protect anything that needs protecting but when not in use, they should be right where you had them.
