Halloween wasn't always Jo's favorite holiday. To be honest, a day of the year where all the creatures and monsters she'd been trained to hunt down and kill being a novelty item was a bit unsettling. Mostly, she blamed it on the fact that not many kids dropped into a bar during the holiday to ask for candy. After the first year in the castle for the holiday, Jo changed her mind about the whole thing. Granted, she had missed out the previous years activity where all the decorations came to life. It was possible that she was tempting fate by decorating the Lux in the theme. Maybe she wanted to get her monster massacre on.

Now it was a tradition of sorts. Caterina had gone home, but she was hoping to rope someone new into the position of child wrangler with her.

The kids were to meet at three in the afternoon in the lobby of the castle. Jo had a list of all the residents that were going to offer up candy to the kids and the businesses. Considering last year, she wanted to be better prepared. Thankfully, there were only seven floors this year and it seemed the elevators were in perfect working order.

Once they made their rounds in the castle, they'd head out (through the leaves) to the city. A few businesses had opted to join in on the festivities and Jo wasn't going to let the kids hard work on their costumes go to waste.

After the trick or treating was done, they'd head back to the Lux where the kids were welcome to trade candy amongst each other or trade it in for something else at the Lux (where Jo had plenty of candy -- unless Dean ate it all).

Of course, once it hit nine o'clock, most of the kids would've filtered out and the bar would shift its focus to something of a more grown-up event. Halloween themed drinks and different foods were available and for the most part, it was just meant to be a good time for anyone that wanted to just hang out and drink.

3PM ] [ Kids in Costume Meet Up

Jo was dressed and ready to head out with the kids. She opted this year to go as a Western Sheriff. After last year's Bumble Bee she decided to go with something that at least had pants. Plus, she could put a button down shirt on beneath the vest for going out with the kids and then opt to take it off for later at the bar that night. Bonus was that she could carry a weapon and if she needed it, then she'd have it.

Now she just had to wait for the kids to gather and then they could head out!

[Mindy has one requirement when it comes to wearing a costume: weapons. Her original plan to be a member of SWAT team went out the window when she realized that her costume was far too accurate to be considered a costume for a kid. So she went a different route and went for a Cop. It was easy and she got handcuffs and a gun.]

Max wandered in a little before three, dressed as Red Riding Hood -- but not the sexy version. She kept it simple -- white button down shirt with jeans, and capped with a bright red cape with a hood. She wasn't all that big on dressing up in the first place, and this was enough to be part of the spirit of the season, and minimal enough that it didn't bug her.

She also had a big wicker basket with her -- to go with the theme. "You think this would be good for the candy?"

Now that the kids were all rounded up, Jo grabbed her list of adults that were going to give out candy and she headed up with the group of them to the first room on the list.

It's slightly amusing that people trapped in a castle still try to maintain some sort of normalcy in their lives. Katherine has opted to play along for the day. Seeing the notes being put up, she got candy and even dressed up for the event.

Naturally, if someone asks she is Scarlett O'Hara from Gone with the Wind.

[Tess is not dressed up, but she thought it might be bad form if she didn't at least do something for the holiday. Some wished up candy and a little bit of decoration on her door isn't going to hurt anyone.

Not that she really has any idea what she's going to say to the children when they get there, but she'll try.]

... Well, every day for Neal was Halloween, but that was besides the point. This year, he's dressed up as a pilot (though his is much better fitting), and has a bowl of candy waiting for the children when they wander by.

He's getting hit pretty early on, but that doesn't mean he won't open the door with a smile.]

Halloween, as far as the Midnighter is concerned, is just another crock of commercialised bullshit that cleans out wallets and breeds idiocy on a night of the year that could been better spent cracking skulls that aren't wrapped in ridiculous Wal-mart-purchased headgear worn by fanboys with imaginations tinier than their cocks and fangirls with tits bigger than their heads.

...Still, there's a bowl full of candy sitting at the door, and the Midnighter has already planned to leave for patrolling later than usual. What the fuck ever, okay. Kids liked the shit.

Room 630 | Gibson

[Down at the end of the sixth floor is Gibson's room, which is not so much decorated for the Diwali festival as it just naturally blends in with the decor. He doesn't really know very much about Halloween, but had adopted an attitude of "why not" when the initial request for adults to hang around their rooms and provide candy had gone out.

Though perfectly safe for human consumption, his candy seems to have glowing striped on it.]

It's rather early in the day for Halloween, but with so many people in the castle, not to mention the town waiting for children to raid for candy, Alan supposes a head start makes sense.

The castle had thought it amusing to force him into a costume for the day - he's dressed as his own program, Tron (http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/17900000/Tron-Betrayal-team-tron-17994828-393-600.jpg), and if it weren't for his glasses and age he'd be indiscernible from the program. He's a little embarrassed about how form-fitting the outfit is, but it's more like real program armor than a costume. It's a shame that his doppelganger has left the castle.

But Alan's still cheery - he loves kids, and even though they're not at home they should have a chance to enjoy the holiday. So he's gotten himself a bowl of candy and is prepared for all the youngsters out trick-or-treating.

6PM ] [ Out to the City

The city might have too many leaves to handle right now, but that won't stop these hyperactive kids that have already been eating some of the candy they've been given. Leading them out to the different shops, Jo intends on making sure that none of them get lost in the leaves.

[Cordy spent most of the morning going all out to get ready for this. Caritas is done up like a haunted forest, with trees and such covering the walls and stage. She even used some of the leaves from outside to give it more of a realistic effect.

All of the tables have been moved to the side for the kids, save for one, which is where Cordelia is sitting in the back. She's dressed up as a fortune teller and has a crystal ball in front of her, as well as the bowl with the candy in it.

[Elektra spent a good chunk of the early hours of the morning decorating to make the shop perfect for the occasion. She may not care for any of this but, she knows Ukitake would so she puts forward her best effort. There's paper laterns, ghosts, and toy skeletons decoration around the shop.

Elektra is dressed as Artemis the Huntress (http://cc.oulu.fi/~yseppa/pics/image_artem_b.jpg) complete with a real bow, arrows, and a large hunting knife strapped to her thigh. She's got a bowl of the smaller version of their more popular candy (chocolate frogs for example) but, if you ask Elektra will happily let you have the big version of whatever you want.]

8PM ] [ Returning to the Castle - Candy Swap at the Lux

Food allergies and general avoidance of certain candies makes the swapping part nearly an essential part of the holiday. Jo has bowls of candy lined up in the booths, so the kids are free to trade their candy with each other or with the stash that the Lux has gathered.

[Max is behind the bar, still in costume, when the kids come back in, and is prepared to be flooded with requests for milkshakes and ice cream. Because exactly what these kids need is more sugar.

[Felix isn't sure whether this holiday is utterly distasteful or completely silly. But that doesn't mean he isn't up for sharing drinks with friends...or anybody really.

So he'll be hanging about the Lux - deciding NOT in costume - with only a silly plastic spider hanging on the edge of his very normal drink as a nod towards the holiday.]

Oh, and he is not drinking anything tonight. His hangover this morning was horrible, and he is not doing a repeat of that.]
