Happy Diwali [open]

Where: Everywhere (though just the ballroom for the feast)
Rating: Um, not more than PG? This is a family holiday, guys, come on...

Diwali is living up to it’s name today. The lights are everywhere today both outside and in.  Stands of candles line the lobby like a temple and lanterns hang from the very ceiling. Everywhere there is light.

Today, however, you can add new smells and sounds to the list as well. Music drifts through the air into the lobby, along with the fragrant, spice filled scents of foods and sweets.

"You've got some good points too," Vivian says, settling down on the grass and making herself more comfortable.

He laughs at that, leaning his arm briefly against the side of hers. "That means you think I'm cute." Mock-childishly.

"Well, that's one word I would use," she replies with a smile, glancing over at him. "Attractive would be another." Vivian adds before looking up at the sky for a moment.

He takes a long pull from his drink, smiling earnestly for the first time in a while. "I think I can settle for that," he answers agreeably.

"I'm glad to hear it," Vivian replies with a soft smile, finishing off her drink. There's a few moments of silence before the fireworks began.

"They don't do this shit in half-measures, do they?" Gunn remarks quietly after a minute or so of fireworks.

"They're really going all out with them," she replies softly, sounding a bit in awe at the fireworks. "Thank for watching them with me," Vivian adds.

He laughs after a moment, looking over to her. "You're thanking me?"

"Why wouldn't I?" Vivian says. "I mean, you didn't have to do it in the first place."

"Yeah, yeah, but bringin' 'thank you' in it? Makes it sound like an inconvenience."

"What? No, no, that wasn't my intention at all," she replies, feeling incredibly stupid right now. "I didn't mean to offend."

He might have picked up on the fact that she was feeling a little dumb, because he laughs - winding his arm around her shoulder, tugging her over. "I'm just messing with you."

"You are?" Vivian casts him a sideways look, now feeling a bit embarrassed. "I thought you were being serious." She leans against him lightly, before laughing herself. "Silly me."

He shrugs slightly, grinning at her. "Hey. Fireworks, right? Try to enjoy 'em."

"I am enjoying them," she replies, offering a smile. "I think they're nearly over though."

"Yeah. Looks like it." But he still keeps his face skyward. "So - other than horses, what d'you do?"

"Well, I go to the shooting range, do a few sparring sessions now and again, go to the library. The bar." Vivian turns to him. "What do you like doing?"

"Shooting range, right. You mentioned that before, didn't you?"

"I did, yeah. It's a good way to release some frustration, believe it or not."

"I like things you can hit. Guns are nice, sure - but it kind of takes the thrill out of it."

"I can see where you're coming from," Vivian says, clearly intrigued by his reply. "Maybe you could spar with me one day. Got my blackbelt when I was younger."

And up go the eyebrows. Gunn gives her a look. "You're a blackbelt, and you were just gonna withhold that info from me?"

"Not withhold necessarily. I would have told you eventually," she says, making a mental note to probably share things like that. "Most people don't believe me when I say it."

"Not such a big surprise to me," Gunn admits. "I've known plenty of tiny women that could kick my ass six ways from Sunday."

"You do?" There's a slight smile on her face. "Think I could take you?"
