[Originally, Rookie had planned on spending the morning outside today to enjoy the fresh air, but decided against it when recalling the piles of leaves that were still littering the castle's grounds. Having no real interest in wasting the duration of his afternoon with plucking foliage out of his armor - as that usually tended to be how his evenings were spent once he returned indoors - the ODST could instead be found sprawled out in a nice little corner of Paradisa's lobby with the journal purposely propped open over his helmet.

Luckily for those listening, however, it wasn't snoring that was being transmitted over the pages today.]

Hey. Been meaning to bring this up, but I have some technology for you guys to check out. Grabbed it back when we all got separated during the expedition. Not sure if any of you would actually be interested in it though, seeing as a lot of it's broken, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to mention.

[Once that was said and done, Rookie gave a soft sigh before moving on to the next two filters. Since he may as well cover all his bases while he was doing the whole journal thing.]

I never said it was. [She averts her gaze, not wanting to try to make out facial expressions through the visor at that particular moment.]

I know it's difficult for you to, I don't know, be personal with people, especially since I know your loss, so I feel bad for feeling the way I did.

Maybe, maybe not. [She reaches over with her free hand and knocks on the forehead of his helmet with her knuckles.]

[He'll sort of try to pull away out of reaction, chuckling.] Yeah, sure.

But only if I get a hug. [He's kidding, mostly.]

How about an IOU on that? Armor's not very huggable, and this is an awkward angle. {He gets a half smile at that, though.]

Wasn't something to take seriously, Kallen. [He'll give a pause, moving to place both hands behind his head in a casual manner.] But I'll accept it.

[He nods back softly.] Yeah. We're good.

[An amused grunt, moving to prop himself up with an arm.]

I suppose it is. [Rubbing the underside of his helmet with a chuckle.] But fine. If it'll put your mind at ease.

[There's a digital sound as the visor shimmers, before the tint sort of falls away to reveal an expression that was borderline neutral. Until it sort of softened, and the corners of his mouth lifted into a vaguely suppressed smile.]

We're good.

[The smile on Kallen's face appears almost immediately as she nods, giving off an amused exhale.]

Alright. [She pauses before continuing.] And to answer your question, yeah, I do trust you.

Good. [That smile gets a little brighter.] Because it just so happens that I trust you too.

[A chuckle escapes her after he says that, and she rolls on to her back to stare at the high ceiling of the lobby.]

Well, glad that's settled.

Mm. [Rook nods silently, before pulling his legs closer to him. Having no intent to really lay back down just yet, though he does seem to be in a far better mood.]

So you really thought I was mad?

Like I said, it was hard to tell. [Though you did... kind of shut the book on him.]

Trust me, if I was mad, you'd know. [She tilts her head so they can make eye contact.]

In all honesty, though, I can't really imagine being too mad with you for long.

[He leans forward with a smirk, propping his helmet up with a hand. 'Cause now he's curious.]

Why's that?

Because, I think that whatever happened, no matter whose fault it was, you'd try your best to understand what went wrong and fix things between us. At least, that's the feeling I get.
