[Originally, Rookie had planned on spending the morning outside today to enjoy the fresh air, but decided against it when recalling the piles of leaves that were still littering the castle's grounds. Having no real interest in wasting the duration of his afternoon with plucking foliage out of his armor - as that usually tended to be how his evenings were spent once he returned indoors - the ODST could instead be found sprawled out in a nice little corner of Paradisa's lobby with the journal purposely propped open over his helmet.

Luckily for those listening, however, it wasn't snoring that was being transmitted over the pages today.]

Hey. Been meaning to bring this up, but I have some technology for you guys to check out. Grabbed it back when we all got separated during the expedition. Not sure if any of you would actually be interested in it though, seeing as a lot of it's broken, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to mention.

[Once that was said and done, Rookie gave a soft sigh before moving on to the next two filters. Since he may as well cover all his bases while he was doing the whole journal thing.]

[If Rookie was expecting Kallen to get upset about that, he'd be wrong. She's not thrilled by any means, but she does smile a little and nod in return.]

I appreciate the honesty, if anything. So, what was the reason you told me? Besides feeling guilty I mean.

[There's a grimace at the last bit, before the visor shimmers and hides his face completely once more. Only for a moment, though, since he was already settling with tugging the piece of equipment off and placing it down on the floor.]

I told you, because I thought you deserved to know.

[It's all she can think to say at the moment, so she reaches for the helmet to look it over.]

[He gives a soft, indistinct noise in response. Since he didn't really know what else to add to that either. Noticing she was reaching for that helmet, though, causes Rookie to tilt his head in the usual way to watch her quietly.]

[She's just going to be turning it over in her hands now, only half studying it as she does.]

You know, I've never really gotten a close look at that armor of yours.

Nothing really special about it. [A pause, almost as if considering something, before he finally shrugs.] But you can go ahead and try it on, if you want.

It just won't do anything.

We don't have advanced armor like this back home. It's all on the Knightmare Frames, so this is new to me. [She pauses a second before sticking the helmet on her head and looking at him. In all honesty, she thinks she must look damn ridiculous.]

[Oh, she does, but that was part of the reason Rookie wanted her to try it on in the first place. The helmet always looked ridiculously big on people when they weren't wearing the armor and - as she may have noticed - it was kind of heavy.]

It's really not all that different from regular BDUs, to be honest. Just has the ability to protect us a bit better, and then there's the VISR system.

[Rookie will lean forwards a bit to push the top part of the helmet, grinning.]

Which is integrated into the helmet. Only works if you have a neural interface, though.

[Off comes the helmet as Kallen shakes her head, the horrible case of helmet hair obvious to anyone.]

Ugh, wearing it now is one thing, but this plus all the armor? I'd feel so... slow.

[There's a thinking face now.] Neural interface... you've got something in your brain for that?

Heh, try running in it.

[And then he'll give a nod, raising a hand to rub the back of his neck where it was located.] It has other uses, but yeah. That's what causes my helmet to work, because it's synched up with the features that are inside it.

I'll have to pass.

[Kallen looks very curious now as she holds on to the helmet.] Is it visible at all?

No. Not my type. Mine's just a basic neural interface, so it's under the skin.

[]Then a moment of pause, before he continues.]

The Spartans, though, and anyone else that wears armor like them, seem to have the kind that you can see.

Basic... right. [She shakes her head in amusement before placing the helmet in front of him and adjusting herself on the floor.]

This stuff's on a whole different level than what we have in my world.

[Rookie grins, moving to rest a hand on the top of his gear.] Could say the same about the stuff in your world, you know.

[Kallen gives him a curious look.] Yeah?

[He nods, tapping his fingers lightly on the top of his helmet before giving a shrug.]

Just seems like giant, flying robots would be a bit more useful than a bunch of high-tech, upgraded armor.

Dunno about that. We have regular soldiers, too, not just pilots. There are some jobs only they can perform. Plus, the Knightmare Frames cost a lot.
