The dwarf is gone... well he's been gone for a while, must've forgotten to mention it with the whole castle taking a giant camping trip to Crazyville. [ A pause. ] Figures Varric would be the first to make a break for it. [ Now who is going to listen to her moan about things and turn them into ridiculous stories? ]

Anyway... know of any good caves around here? Haven't had a decent cave adventure in a while.

There's nothing to thank me for. I didn't do anything. [TRYING .... so hard not to sound bitter there alskdjals but ugh, he's secretly so mad that he isn't ~special~ enough for hawke to want to talk to him/be comforted by him/etc ... EVEN THOUGH IT WOULD BE BAD IF SHE DID, TOO ... feelings are complicated, okay ;;]

[AUGH. THAT FAAAAACE.

that face .... is making it so incredibly difficult, impossible even, for him to back off like he knows she wants him to -- like he really ought to, all things considered, or so justice is protesting. but it's so painfully obvious to him that she needs something, and even though he's not entirely sure what that something should be, he's not sure he trusts anyone else to give it to her.

there's a moment where he looks extremely conflicted - like he might just be battling it out with justice in his head, before he tentatively lifts a hand to brush her bangs out of her eyes, gently.

will he get in trouble for this? probably. is it bad for him? definitely. but he feels that she needs to know that she has someone to lean on, to count on when she needs it in whatever way she needs it, even if it ends up causing him a lot of heartache.]

[he's immediately pulling his hand away when she pushes it down, like she's on fire or something. he'll be simultaneously taking a quick step back and away from her, to a place where he can't reach to do that again or continue that action. he looks quickly at her face, and something akin to both relief and attraction swells through him. ... and he swallows carefully, before putting on a small smile and speaking up. it's ... kind of hilariously clear that this is hard for him LMFAO]
