[ Today, Emil is sitting in the lobby, back to his normal self and looking pretty happy about it. He also seems to be attempting to play paddleball, which is probably not all that easy when you can't see what you're doing. Anyone walking close by better be careful. The journal beside him also picks up the sound of him playing. ]
I'm really glad that's over. I like it here, but it's a lot easier when I look like myself. But I hope I didn't scare anyone too much...
[ A short pause, like he's trying to remember something. ]
Oh, that's right! I was going to ask earlier, but I kept forgetting. The castle only celebrates some holidays here, but I don't know about that many of them from other places or anything like that. And I never really celebrated any before I got here...so if anyone has the time, could you tell me about the ones you like best?

Our village was large back in those days. There was famine later... Not nice. [She pauses, she doesn't want to upset the boy.] No meat pie! Ah, but minced meat with onions and spices... You should try it sometime! I tried to make some here, but I'm not very familiar with modern cooking, I fear. But I try, now and then.

That sounds tough...but I'd like that! Maybe someone could help teach you about how to use the kitchen-- or you could ask the ghosts! I bet they'd help, or just give you the food.

I like trying new things too, but... was there a famine where you came from too? [Serious again.]

[Wealthy enough to have a butler, but no source of wealth? Marian can't quite understand how it worked.]

Is there anyone else from your world here?

[Marian is happy for him, it doesn't seem right to her that children should be brought here with no-one from their home.]
Who are they?

And I'm glad too. Do you have friends here?
no subject
I have one friend from home, his name is Guy. [There's that other kind of twinge in her heart.]
no subject
That's good! He has a pretty neat name.
no subject
[Laughs a little again.] Yes, Guy is good... now. It is a funny name, I agree. Friends are good.

He hasn't been able to fully heal since he came here, though, which so many do. I guess Paradisa can't heal everything?
[Yes, she does wonder about Emil's disability.]
no subject
Oh, is that his loss? I know the people here can cure a lot of things, but maybe it's because of that.
[ He doesn't realize that, sadly. ]
no subject
Hasn't... the castle cured your eyes? Or is that... your loss?
[She speaks with hesitation, not wanting to upset him.]
