Is there a limit to how much we can ask of the Castle?

[ She can also be found at the gym, as always, practicing.

You may hear echoes of this music from outside, accompanied by the occasional sound of wood tapping against linoleum. Once she finishes a round, she takes a few minutes to breathe, then does it again. Sometimes she rehearses a part many times, perfecting it. And sometimes, after a good round, she curtsies to herself in the mirror and smiles.

But Nina doesn't smile when she dances. ]

Oh.

I wouldn't worry about that, that sounds like a superstition. People come up with them a lot here.

But I can assure you that I ask the castle for things frequently and I get the same amount of temporary losses as someone I know who makes a point never to wish for anything from the castle.

Mostly I work to pay off some debts my...teacher acquired in the city. For some reason I can't seem to ask for money from the castle. [BECAUSE HE'S CURSED]

He was the one to teach me how to be an Exorcist...unfortunately his spending habits are terrible.

What's exorcising like?

Exorcising?

Ah...

It's hard to say exactly. It can be very hard sometimes...a lot of bad things happen and I wouldn't...wish it on anyone else.

But...it's what I want to do with my life.

It is, yes. I do a lot of fighting.

What made you want to be an exorcist?

[There is a pause...this is slightly personal since it involves his dad and Nina is a normal person as far as he knows...]

It's a long story but...essentially...I want to help people. Especially those who are often overlooked by the rest of the world.

And since I have the rare capability that is required in my world to become an Exorcist, I felt that was the best way to do it.

Mm.

I mean...it wasn't like I made the choice instantly. It took time and lots of experiences for me to shape my opinion. Originally...I did it out of a sense of obligation for my father and I cared little about being an Exorcist. I mean...it wasn't anything like being in the circus.

But over time as I traveled and saw things through the eyes of an Exorcist...I grew to realise it was who I truly was and the choice became easy for me.

So...I like to think that in that context...that a lot of people who had my experiences would make the choice that I did. I'm hardly that special.
