¤ 17 - Last one standing

[he hadn't heard from him in a while. It was worrying, but... he never expected him to actually be gone. So much so that the blank door doesn't register right away.]

It can't be...

[he opens it, finds the room empty, and stands there for a hanging moment] ...No.

[a minute goes by, and he wavers on his feet. He almost drops to his knees and lets this hit him in a defeated rush. ...Almost. Instead, something inside catches him. He knows his uncle wouldn't want him to let rage overtake him, but... well, Iroh is more than a world away now. The fire builds, and he remembers someone suggesting that he should just take the castle down, brick by brick. It had been a tempting idea at the time... and now, what was stopping him?

So, like a certain similar moment a few months ago, a fiery explosion rocks one of the castle hallways. This time, it's lucky floor number 9. With a roar, a fireball blasts into the hallway from room 913, and continues from there.

He'd really like nothing more than to burn this place to the ground.]

[well, it's kinda hard to overlook the sound of something exploding (not to mention the aftershock), especially as it easily travels down the open stairway.

She pauses in her climb up the stairs for half a second, and then continues upwards at a run. Oh hey, this looks like the right floor, what with all the burning and the hellish visage and the flames and stuff.

Edging cautiously closer; she's not fireproof, after all. But really, this has a certain feeling of deja vu...]

[Mark's in the middle of sorting out the pile of new music he dragged in from the music room, when he hears the explosion down the hall, and nearly falls out of his chair]

Holy shit! [he pokes his head out the door in time to see .... HIS HALLWAY ON FIRE]

Oh, fuck. Ohhhh, fuck. ... Where do they keep the fire extinguishers in this place ... shit shit shit --!

[Crowley's on floor ten, so he feels the heat rising first. Ugh, it's probably some resident having a hissy fit over something meaningless. Time to ignore it and wait for people to bitch about it on the journal.

That's coming from the ninth floor. That's where the Nines is. That's where the Triumvirate's endless supply of booze is kept!

He'll just be heading downstairs now to stroll past whoever's trying to chill Zuko out, unheeded by any flames, wandering off into the bar. He's got alcohol to rescue]

When he reaches the landing of the 9th floor, he sees Chopper barreling up at him. He puts his hands out, hoping Chopper will see him.]

[Wes lives in 915. Which makes him next door to a madman. One minute he's reading a book, drinking a nice cup of earl grey tea, the next he's finding himself lying on the floor, scorched debris everywhere, there's a pain in his shoulder but he can't tell what's wrong. Dazed and fighting the urge to cough, he pulls himself to his knees, trying to get his bearings.

He can hear sounds of more explosive blasts, of people shouting with anger and fear, there's a thick haze of smoke clinging in the air, and part of the wall is ablaze with flame. The heat is such that he crawls backwards towards Lilah's side. He could attempt to put the fire out, but the commotion in the hall makes him suspect that this is no accidental fire.

First things first, he has to make sure that she's okay. He wishes a door into the wall separating their rooms and stumbles through.]

She coughed a few times from the smoke before getting down the ground. A moment later, the door opened, revealing Wesley. She nodded a little, looking up to see the burnt material of Wesley's shirt, and his burnt shoulder.]

Are you okay?
