¤ 17 - Last one standing

[he hadn't heard from him in a while. It was worrying, but... he never expected him to actually be gone. So much so that the blank door doesn't register right away.]

It can't be...

[he opens it, finds the room empty, and stands there for a hanging moment] ...No.

[a minute goes by, and he wavers on his feet. He almost drops to his knees and lets this hit him in a defeated rush. ...Almost. Instead, something inside catches him. He knows his uncle wouldn't want him to let rage overtake him, but... well, Iroh is more than a world away now. The fire builds, and he remembers someone suggesting that he should just take the castle down, brick by brick. It had been a tempting idea at the time... and now, what was stopping him?

So, like a certain similar moment a few months ago, a fiery explosion rocks one of the castle hallways. This time, it's lucky floor number 9. With a roar, a fireball blasts into the hallway from room 913, and continues from there.

He'd really like nothing more than to burn this place to the ground.]

[his struggles hesitate again, and an exasperated breath comes out in a huff... since there is weight kind of pressing the air out of his lungs. He doesn't answer, but he's at least pausing long enough to listen. Kind of.]

[It's clear to her at this point that these folks are familiar with each other. She decides that the most prudent course of action is to continue in her role as Zuko-weight, and just let them talk.]

[it's all wearing him down. The longer he's held there, the more time he's given to think about the fact that he could actually be hurting people, the less fuel he has to run on.

He's still furious, filled with more anger than he knows what to do with, but--with a frustrated growl--the fight is falling out of him.]

[a sigh, and she's trying to gauge Zuko's reaction. Which isn't really working because the back of his head isn't exactly expressive, to say the least.]

Will you stop setting things on fire if I let you up?

[his fists clench... but he lets them loosen after a few moments]

[once he's got them off of him, he pushes himself up, backing off and rubbing his right shoulder.

Not really wanting to look around at the hissing wreckage of the room. He hears Natsuki's offer but doesn't really answer, just quietly fuming to himself]

[a shrug, casually assessing the damage. Eh, she's seen worse; he's no Kagutsuchi.

Trying to figure out if she should leave or stay or what. In the meantime, 'gee, look at that extremely interesting scorch mark!']

[She looks from Zuko to Natsuki, uncertain. It seems that things have come to a calming point now, and she doesn't really know either of them, so she's not sure what to do ... after a moment of silence, she just shrugs and offers her hand to both/either of them.]

A pause, and then she jerks a thumb towards the pyro.] That's Zuko.

[she puts her chin on her hand and looks over at Zuko.] You still seem upset, so perhaps you don't want to talk. But.

[she leans forward.]
