The children that the castle gave us - has anyone ever figured out who they are? Where they go?

[Posted up in the castle and recreated in the journals is the following:]

[Chuck isn't going to bother with words -- instead, what looks distinctly like a swimming pool is being sketched out onto the pages of the journal. Happy little stick figure men and women swim -- two of them are passing a beach ball. A small table is drawn in near the pool, topped with something (probably food) and a box that is probably some sort of music player, given the tiny music notes drawn floating out from it. The drawing is pretty clearly an invitation.

When it's finished, she circles it a few times and adds a little doodle of a smiling face in the corner.

Anyone who actually goes to the pool will find her lounging in a beach chair at the side with a book, humming to herself and clearly having a good time.]

[There are a handful of fliers scattered across the castle, town, and tacked into strategic locations in both places. Pretty font printed on artfully crinkled yellow paper reads:]

Congratulations!

This flier is a coupon good for
one free slice of pie at The
Pie Hole. Bring it in and
enjoy a complimentary slice
on the house!

Under new management!
-Charlotte Charles

[And Chuck will be waiting behind the counter for anyone who stops by, a variety of pies, cup-pies, and ice cream ready to serve. Later, she'll pen into the journals:]

I've taken over the Pie Hole. If you've never been, I'd encourage you to stop by. And for those of you who knew Ned -- he's gone home.

[ooc: Feel free to action in, threadhop if you'd like, do whatever. :3 Just an open post for fun.]
[identity profile] playdohsmash.livejournal.com
-- oh, no. I think I'm being affected by one of the castle's losses.

[Chuck doesn't sound irritated, just flustered.]

If anyone has a moment, would you mind stopping by the kitchen? I need a stranger's opinion on something.

[And anyone who happens into the kitchen will find her cooking -- surrounded by baked goods, actually, about half of which are too burned to be edible.]

[The following, however, is written in slanted, pretty script:]

That's one of my favorites. Does anyone ever play games over these journals?

So it's occurred to me that I've met a lot of people so far with some pretty interesting stories. The whole place is magic, it seems, and I'll admit now that I wasn't quite honest the first time that I introduced myself.

My name is Chuck Charles, and I'm dead. Well, I used to be dead. We've decided that "alive again" is really the best sort of term for it, you know, since I do breathe and eat and sleep -- and I don't care much for "zombie," either, because that word has got some pretty horrible connotations attached to it. And you know what? It feels pretty good to get that off my chest. Keeping a secret that big is hard, you know. [Her tone is pleasant, upbeat, and she flows easily from one topic to another.]

Tell me a little about your world, or recommend a good book for me to read in the library. It seems like I've got nothing but time on my hands since I've been here. I'll be in the kitchen, too, if anyone wants a cup-pie. I'm experimenting with rhubarb this week, and I have to say, it's pretty exciting.

[And anyone who does go into the kitchen will find the place coated in flour and Chuck up to her elbows, stress-baking away.]

[It has been three hours, twelve minutes, and four seconds exactly since Charlotte Charles arrived in Castle Paradisa. The first hour was spent panicking, the second using the resources she had found learning about the castle, and the third exploring.

It's not until now that she actually opens the journal. She smiles reflexively at it, even if she knows at this point that no one will actually be able to see it.]

I hope everyone is doing alright tonight. I'm new here -- my name is Chuck, and I look forward to getting to know all of you.

I'll be baking pies in the kitchen for a little while [.. out of stress, really, because while this place doesn't seem inherently bad, she's still been yanked rather unceremoniously from her friends], so please, stop by and introduce yourself. I've got a great blueberry recipe that I'm going to be trying out.

[Loss over... and boy is Chuck feeling bad... she opens the journal with a sigh]

Well, I still hate the castle, but just the castle. Not everyone and everything along with that. I'm sorry if I offended anyone with that comment.

Anyone she's talked to in the past week (she doesn't know some names) )

[She walks into the Pie Hole and anxiously looks around for Ned. Because he deserves a HUGE public apology.}
[identity profile] curioushoney.livejournal.com

[dictated;]
I can't believe I've put up with this place for so long. It's been 5 months and the only thing I've realized is how stupid and insipid everyone and everything are here are.
.
[she goes over to the bed to get her bag then grabs the journal to put in one final word]

I'm going to the library getting my favorite books and then locking myself in my room. Don't bother knocking, it's not like I want to talk to anyone.

((ooc: Loss is a go  She'll be walking towards the library so feel free to run into her but be prepared get a very rude greeting.))

[Chuck's just cleaning dishes at the Pie Hole with the journal sitting next to her open on the counter. When she suddenly feels the urge to tell all...]

The woman I thought was my aunt for my entire life is actually my mother, but I didn't find that out until she thought I was dead. Back home, everyone but about 4 people think that I'm dead.

And I was, for about a week, until my boyfriend brought me back to life, only now I can't touch him, because if I do I'll go back to being dead, and I really wish I could. Touch him, I mean. I also feel bad because someone died in order for me too li-----

[she gasps, trying to get her brain to tell her mouth to shut up but a bit more slips out]

Ned, can I move into your room?

((oo: So, anyone who's at the Pie Hole can feel free to hear this and WTF a bit at it.))

I think it's starting to feel like spring. How long's it been since groundhog's day? Or was it capybara day here? If anyone would like to take a walk they're welcome to join me, I'd be glad for the company.

[Chuck will be wandering the grounds, sitting on random benches looking dreamy and staring up at the sky a lot. Feel free to say hi or ask her why she's being weird.]

I've been in sort of a daze since the....invasion I guess that's what it was. I heard that people who are killed here return after a few weeks, so I suppose that's a blessing. I'm truly sorry for anyone who lost anyone though.

Oh, and if that isn't the person who has stolen the underwear perhaps we girls could band together. Start some sort of panty finding brigade. Who's up for a little detective work?
[identity profile] curioushoney.livejournal.com

[dictated as she walks along the halls heading for the kitchen and the safe zones]

This is all getting a little too freaky for my tastes. This morning I thought I saw my aunt Lily in one of my bedroom win---

[there is a gasp followed by a scream...yeah, she's just found the bloody writing saying "Stay Together" on the wall of the 4th floor]

Oh my god!

[and with that she's running towards the stairs. The journal is half open in her hand.]
[identity profile] curioushoney.livejournal.com

I think I have a really interesting hate love relationship with holidays here. The castle gets creative, for better or worse, makes things interesting. But I also think about all the things people at home are doing. Emerson,Olive, Digby  and Pigby, not to mention my aunts... a girl could drive herself crazy by thinking about all the people who aren't here.

So, as a distraction I have a question for the castle at large. What's your favorite book?
[identity profile] curioushoney.livejournal.com

[Chuck is ridiculously happy and 'cause she has her Ned back and is expressing this by humming. His husbands and wives can feel free to call her out for stealing their love! It's quite possible she won't care she's so happy.]

Well, it might be called Groundhog's Day back home, but when in Rome, I guess... Happy Capybara Day everyone!

I think I'm going to ask the castle give me some starter hives as soon as it really starts to be spring. I can almost feel it around the corner. There's just something in the air.

Ned, didn't you say you had a place for me to put them?
[identity profile] curioushoney.livejournal.com

[Chuck is at the Pie Hole, puttering about, making pies, you know, the usual. Come in and order pie!]

You know, if you had told me 2 years ago that I'd be in an alternate universe working in a pie shop run by my childhood sweetheart and not living with my aunts and their birds I'd never have believed you. It's funny how things work out, isn't it?

((ooc: Chuck needs friends... she won't bite! Well, not unless you threaten her Ned. Also Claire-mun, Toast, is this cool?))

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
