[Allen is in the library, sitting at a table with several books around him. Most of them are on the subject of different types of demons in various worlds, possessions and types of exorcisms. He seems very focused, paging and reading through one as Timcanpy sits on his shoulder, peering down at it. When he reads a certain passage, his face makes a disgusted expression]

[Allen really doesn't want to tell the truth because he's barely told anyone at all outside his closest friends]

You told me that you're a demon in a human host. I'm an Exorcist, isn't it normal for me to react badly?

An Exorcist? Like... you perform them? Cause I mean I'd think you'd stick around and jack me from my body or something. I mean the castle gave me this one so I have no clue what'll happen, but I try to take care of them. I mean Sam can pull demons out and the person is a lot safer than with an Exorcism.

Is that what you do?

I use a weapon to destroy demons. Most of the ones I fight wear the skins of dead bodies. I haven't perfected the ability to exorcise demons without harming the human vessel. [Which is why I haven't stabbed you]

Well I destroy demons too, even though I am one, but I guess it's just different from where everyone else is.

I didn't mean to scare you though, I mean... I understand a bit better, but I just didn't mean to upset you like that.

Well I fight demons because despite being one, I do still remember what it was like to be human. I know it sounds trite and trust me most the people I tell this to are pretty sick of hearing it, but it's true. I fight demons because most of them out there are in it to hurt people, and try to start this war between the two sides of the coin. The Apocalypse isn't my idea of a fun time for all. I kinda like Earth the way it is, with the people and the fast food joints. So I figure, because it's what I figure I can do to help. Just because I'm a demon doesn't mean I have to go all willy nilly and do stupid things.

As for the body it's the only way I'm corporeal. I mean otherwise I'm just a plume of black smoke. See I was human, then I sold my soul to a bigger badder thing that meant I was in way over my head. So my soul went to Hell and I was tormented for a good long time. When I finally got out the only thing really left of me was that dark black remnants of my soul. So in order to actually do something I need a body. The one I was in, when you met me was given to me by the castle. It's pretty much the same as the one I had before I got here. Another demon, one I was trying to stop took over that body and sent me back to Hell.

When I got out I went to find Sam, and he insisted that I get a body that was free and clear. No person that used to be living inside of it. So I found a coma patient, waited til she flatlined and waited some more until her soul left. Then I slipped in and that's my body now back home.

Does it sorta make sense?

[a long pause as he listens to her story]

I see...

So...you just inhabit dead bodies now?

As long as one's around yeah. I mean there have been those few times when I needed to get into someplace undetected, but I promise I leave the person exactly the way I found them. Sam would have my neck if I was hurting people.

Oh...that's good.

So you two...can fight demons, without harming the human.

We try to, but sometimes we're too late, or it's been too long and the human isn't alive anymore. Where I'm from Exorcising a demon usually is too stressful for the human to tolerate and they die while the demon is being removed. What Sam does is different, and it leaves the human in as good shape as they're in at the moment.

[a good sized pause]

I'm sorry for all the questions...but is your Sam here?

Hey I'm glad I can answer them, I just felt bad after you kinda looked like I told you there's no Santa Clause and then raced off.

Sam's here, well... I mean he was. He left the castle last night to stay in the city. He got into it with his brother, so he bailed to have some time to clear his head.

Sorry...I guess I jumped to conclusions.

[a pause] Brother...do you mean Sam Winchester?

Hey it happens, I'm just glad I could explain.

And yeah-- why you know him?

Ah...a little. I spoke to him a few times the last time he was here.

Got it. Yeah Sam Winchester, but here he can't do what he does back home. His powers are gone, it's his loss so he can't demonstrate on me or anything. Plus I don't know what this body is really, I mean the castle gave it to me so for all I know it's just ... nothing. [pauses for thought] Though I'm on a loss, and when the castle turns me human I don't change to how I was before I was a demon.

Eh, that's too confusing to even think about.

[a pause; because NOW it's like he was told Santa Clause isn't real]
