[Kratos isn't doing anything particularly interesting ~~as usual~~, just sitting in the field under the stars with a fuzzy green and mint puppy in his arms. Occasionally, the pup gets a little tired... then perks back up and licks lazily at Kratos' face.]

[Allen is walking back from the city after a night of cheating at cards. He's quietly humming to himself a pretty yet slightly eerie tune]

[Nice occupation there, Allen. Anyway... Kratos picks up the sound of humming and glances toward the pale-haired boy.]

... Good evening.

[Wonder if Allen will even see him. Kratos isn't exactly brightly-colored.]

[It's a living. He stops the humming and looks around when he hears Kratos's voice. When he sees him, he gives a smile]

Ah, good evening, sir! I didn't realize anyone was out here.

Traveling alone at night can be dangerous, even here. [Iota's ears perk. One of them tickles Kratos' nose. The puppy isn't doing much for his image.]

[He starts looking at the dog. What odd colors for a puppy o.o ]

Ah, I know that. I make sure to be careful.

... Good.

[Iota whines and sniffs in Allen's direction.]

Mm.

[He tilts his head curiously and steps a bit closer]

Ah...so what's their name? The dog, I mean.

Iota. [The puppy squirms out of Kratos' hold and approaches the boy, sniffing tentatively.] Sit. [And plop, the puppy sits.

Kratos trains his boys the same way. :|]

[...That explains so much. Anyway, Allen squats down himself when the puppy does, reaching a gloved hand hesitantly out to the puppy to sniff]

Iota...

That's nice.

Does it mean anything?

[The puppy sniffs, then stands up on wobbly legs and bumps into his hand.]

... Lloyd heard the word somewhere and thought it was pretty.

[a small amused noise before he scratches behind the dog's ear]

[He glances up] Lloyd? You know him?

[It was the dwarven upbringing. Really.]

... I do.

[Lloyd knows everyone.]

[Well that's what happens when your kid is a shonen social butterfly; but Allen smiles]

I've only spoken to him a couple times, but he seems very nice.

You two must be close if you let him name your dog.

[A little bit of parental pride leaks into his tone; Allen may or may not recognize it.]

He's kind... and a bit too trusting for his own good.

[The angel pauses, watching Iota kick his leg at the petting.]

I was his teacher.

[He smiles a little; he can tell Kratos's tone is a bit warmer than before. ]

I see...I could see where that might be slightly problematic. [a small laugh] Though...he must have been a good student. [SINCE YOU SOUND PROUD]

I was fortunate to teach him something he was actually interested in, though he was often stubborn or lazy... To the end, he refused to think the way I did.

[a little smile, despite his words]

He may have taught me a few things.

[He watches Kratos as he absently pets the puppy. A bit of him wonders if Cross ever talked li- nah. Probably not]

Even if he refused to think the way you did, I'm sure he learned a lot from you too.

And that's good, that you did learn from him too.

[You never know~

Kratos lets the silence sit for a while, watches Iota soak in the attention.]

... I suppose I should give you my name. [Seeing as he knows his son.] I am Kratos Aurion.

[Oh he does, Allen is just completely unaware of it.] Oh.

I'm Allen Walker. [He holds up his hand not petting the puppy to shake] It's nice to meet you, Mr. Aurion.

[Kratos pauses, then takes it. The handshake is brief; usually it's a gesture he ignores entirely, but Allen has yet to peeve him.]

Likewise.

[Yay! He pulls away after the quick shake]

I'm sorry, should I leave you to your thinking?

[Actually, Allen is already twice as polite as Lloyd.]

... You've done nothing wrong. I may take Iota inside soon, however. It's still a bit too cold for his liking.

[It's his way!]

Oh...I'd imagine so. It's still warming up a bit. [he gives Iota one more good petting before he stands up]

... Farewell, Allen. [Iota whines, not wanting to see him leave yet. Kratos gives him a distracting earscritch.]

[He gives a smile and a nod]

Have a goodnight, Mr. Aurion and Iota.
