He was hardly in his room today.
It'd be so damn easy to blame the whole thing on Kagami.
But I know that wouldn't be true. He had nothing to do with it.
"I'll be okay," he said.
He's a liar.
Almost as much of a liar as I am.
"I want to keep you safe," I said, and I did. Zelman Clock, the infamous Red-Eyed Murderer, the Prince with Blood Colored Eyes, the Bearer of the God's Flame... I used that flame and those eyes and I vanquished the evil and saved the damsel, as usual.
But something was eating away at him from the inside. Something I couldn't see but knew was there, and there wasn't a goddamn thing I could do about it. I just sat and watched while... Look into his eyes and suddenly he isn't just seeing me anymore.
It's like I'm competing with a ghost.
And it looks like the ghost is winning.
