Two years ago, autumn was like every other day in Paradisa, or so I've heard - sunny skies, green grass, and virtually no change in temperature. Nor was there any rain or snow to contend with, and the trees looked the same in December as in June. It must have been more difficult to keep track of time passing with constant weather. During this time, the barrier was more literally a barrier - about a day's walk out from the castle, one would run into a physical force that would prevent them from going any further.

Shortly after my arrival around Christmas, on January the first, the barrier changed dramatically - it now blocked only powers, and the wider world beyond including the mountains became visible. At that time, the entire area out to where the powers become limited now from the original barrier was a dead zone. It also became apparent that the seasons were changing in Paradisa - there was snow, rain for the entire month of April, an overabundance of flowers in May, and in the autumn the leaves changed colors brillinatly but normally and stayed on the trees for quite some time before falling to the ground all at once.

Late that year but before the snows set in, a group of us were investigating the landmark called the Pillar Fields when a switch I found reversed the powered and depowered areas; that is to say, the area that was formerly the Dead Zone became powered and what is currently the barrier, which had had powers before, was altered into a dead zone. From that time forward, the barriers have been in their current state; the passage of the seasons has also altered slightly since then. Rather than constant rains in April, we had a deluge followed by a month of swamps. Rather than vibrant natural colors of autumn leaves, we have this current trend of odd lights accompanying the color change.

I suppose the question I'd like to ask is this: first, will the seasonal changes be the same if the dead zone is not tampered with again? And second, is there anyone for whom either of the autumnal changes are standard?

[And then Wash, already in swim trunks and one of his brighter shirts, is doing just that, heading down to the kitchen for a few things to supplement what he plans on asking the Castle for, Herbert the Compy trailing along after him.

Once actually in the room, he starts directing ghosts, asking for a table and beach chairs and food and some beach balls and assorted other things they need for a party - and a map of the Castle, for when they get started deciding where they want to end up moving.

If no one shows up after a while, he'll take to knocking on doors, but for now, he's making the most of the room.]

[Uther is pleased by the excellent horses out in the stables. They are obviously well-bred and quite up to the standards a man like himself would expect. The tack is a bit different than what he is used to, but it is still easy to deal with, and easy to get started. It is relaxing and restful to be doing something familiar, something he's accustomed to. He usually does not venture out without guards, but that's not an option here. At least, the ride does give him time to clear his head and think a bit, without getting himself drunk again.]

[Dis boy is sleeping, and quite soundly at that, in what would appear to be a very comfortable fashion if it wasn't...

Well, right in the middle of a castle hallway.

He doesn't appear to be sick or injured, or even much bothered by the public setting, leaning back against a wall. No belongings, or anything in particular on him, though he might accidentally have ended up in front of a door or otherwise in the way.

Might be kind of hard to wake him up though :)]

[Bela is ... bored.

She doesn't want to be bored and isn't going to complain about being bored, but when she IS in fact, bored she ... tends to case people. She's not planning on stealing anything quite yet -- she has a job and she lives in a magical castle -- but that doesn't mean she doesn't like to know her options if she did decide to do just that.

She's sitting in the lobby, one leg crossed in front of her, humming to herself as she flips through the journal, and watching people out of the corner of her eye, making note of their habits, information, what have you, under a private filter.

She might go down to the shooting range later. But for now, she's just going to sit a while.]

So...Back to that hobby thing I thought of getting awhile back. I guess it kind of failed? As I am hobbyless and it's been brought to my attention that I've been kind of boring.

[Her tone suggests that this person is totally an idiot, and that she's not even remotely boring, but she does spend a lot of nights being actually bored]

So besides talking into these things, and bothering other people, how do you guys pass the time? You don't have a lot of places to go, so I'm sure that...Doesn't help with the boredom factor.

Castle induced 'fun' doesn't count, either.

I... My twin... He isn't waking up... It's rather abnormal behavior for him... Not to mention, he fell asleep in a hallway...

Does anyone know any reasons for this? Or any way to resolve it? Does the castle normally make people fall asleep? Also... would it be wise to move him? I'd rather him not stay asleep in the middle of a hallway...

It could have something to do with how mad Wonderland is as a whole.

It's a given that there's a cup of tea beside him, though at the moment, he's paying more attention to the hat he's juggling idly, flicking it out and then catching it as it boomerangs back to him, occasionally even going past the edge of the roof.

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
