[as promised, Lemony has set the ballroom for a traditional Rosh Hashanah seder - well, as best he could, anyway. asking the castle aloud for things seemed a bit odd, so the night before, just before sundown, he wrote up a sort of shopping list and tacked it to the fridge. when he got up in the morning, he went down to the kitchen and was rather shocked to see the ghosts carrying the dishes out to the ballroom, through the lobby ... "rather shocked" here having the meaning of "Lemony Snicket screamed like a little girl and hid behind one of the columns until they had all gone by". after they had passed, he went up to the library and found a few bound translations of the Torah, as well as some books on Jewish customs and traditions, and brought them down to the ballroom.
then he set about making the place look comfortable, rearranging the chairs and smaller tables in cozy little groups, so that the food could be picked up buffet-style and brought back over to the tables for company and conversation. once it's all been set up, he steps back to survey his handiwork]Well, it isn't the most traditional setting I've ever seen, but ... without a rabbi present, it's for the best.
[at the very least, he remembers what is recited over the seder foods, and that's enough for him] I suppose if anyone wants to do something a bit more Orthodox, they're welcome to. It's all rather ersatz for a seder, but it'll do.
[with that, he settles into a chair by the door and spends a few moments in quiet reflection, in keeping with the holiday, and waits for his guests to arrive]
( Private )((OOC: Open post! Come and have something to eat, meet some new people, discuss all the crazy things that've happened over the last year in Para, and prepare for the one to come! I'll put up a couple of separate area threads in the ballroom, but for the most part, this is all about getting some CR and mingling!))
