I wonder if Martha's all right. Been wondering for a while, actually... seems like only yesterday I was dropping my way through the smokey motorway of New New York, choking on mouthfuls of carbon monoxide... mmm, love that poison gas! Hacking my lungs out, always ace. Although, all things considered, what with the state of this place, nothing's changed at all for her. Once I pop back I don't doubt it'll be seconds after I left. And there I'll be, telling the stories of my months at Paradisa and she'll be all, 'you're mad, Doctor, you haven't gone anywhere!' and I'll need to give her a thorough education on alternate universes and time pockets and other such things like this. Then I'll take her as far away from any form of castle as I can, maybe Pseudinion, maybe... hmm, maybe New York. I mean real New York, not New New York with its insane insanity. All relative, I suppose.
[pen taps, thinking]
Well. It's a nice thought. Primary concern is actually getting out of here.
So! People of Paradisa, I've got a general question for the sake of busting that boredom. If you lot were time travellers, when would you go and why? Be creative, now! Don't want any of that 'I'd go back to yesterday so I could break up with my girlfriend instead of the other way round' raff.
Allons-y! (Or allez-y, in this case?)

What year are you from?

Me? I don't belong to any one in particular. All of time's my stage, really. Well, mostly. There are rules. But otherwise anything's fair game.

When did "New New York" begin to exist?
no subject
Somewhere around the year five billion and twenty-three, after the destruction of Earth. And strictly speaking, it's the fifteenth New York since the original, so it's actually New New New New New New New New New New New New New New New York [dictated; muttered] and why is that so familiar?

Not supposed to do? Are there laws against it?
Cheating can be a valid form of success.
How intruiging. Most of the residents here seem to be from far in our past; you are the first we know of that come from our future.
Does it look much like the original? Or have you got flying cars et cetera yet?

I was just taking her for a trip, actually. Thought she might like to get away from her rowing family for a bit.

Well ... at least you didn't travel alone after I di-
Bit quick though.

[pen taps]
It's not as though I went looking for someone; we just sort of chanced upon each other and I told her I'd take her with me for a bit.

Well that sounds familiar. Must be your common pick-up for companions. Did you tell her it could also travel in time too?

[a soft laugh]
Ah, well, it's not as if the damage of breathing all that would do much damage to you, after all.

If it wouldn't be imposing, could I visit you? I'd like to have a friendly chat with you at least once, when I can. Face to face, I mean, not through the journals.
no subject
I suppose you could.
