Happy Diwali [open]

Where: Everywhere (though just the ballroom for the feast)
Rating: Um, not more than PG? This is a family holiday, guys, come on...

Diwali is living up to it’s name today. The lights are everywhere today both outside and in.  Stands of candles line the lobby like a temple and lanterns hang from the very ceiling. Everywhere there is light.

Today, however, you can add new smells and sounds to the list as well. Music drifts through the air into the lobby, along with the fragrant, spice filled scents of foods and sweets.

"Oh," she says. For a moment, she forgot that some people haven't been around. Or heard stories about what the castle did on previous holidays. For such a cute dragon, it's probably for the best.

"Um, well," she pauses. She fiddles with her jacket sleeves as she thinks on how to word it. "We...honored the dead. It's when the...the cemetery appeared, too."

"You mean that place with the rocks with names written on it?"

He considers this.

"But...I thought nopony could die here."

Sometimes she wishes she was better at talking to people...and ponies and dragons, too. Then she might have better luck at avoiding these conversations.

"Well, um... They are... They've died in their own worlds," she says. The fact that people can die in Paradisa is one she'll just omit.

"Oh," he frowns softly. "That's really sad."

"A little, yes, but... But they get to have a second chance here. And see people they know again. So it's not all that sad," she says with a small smile in an attempt to cheer him up.

"Hey, you're right! I mean, they can stay alive forever here..."

He pauses.

"Oh...wait. Until they uh...go home."

"Mm, right." She sighs. "But at least they got to have that time here. And that...that's the important part."

Hinata pauses, wondering how this conversation took a sad turn and how to fix it. "Um, anyway... What would you, um, recommend to have?"

Ahhh the subject of food, one he's very good at. He picks up a delicious bowl of something, offering it to her.

"This is REALLY good. I mean, it's no bowl of gemstones, but it's still pretty tasty."

"Gemstones?" She sounds curious and more than a little skeptical. They can't be all that easy to eat...

Yet she does take the proffered bowl, and takes a tiny handful of it. Because it's the polite thing to do. "Thank you. It...it does look good."

"Sure, they're a dragon's favourite type of food," especially THIS little dragon.

He smiles, happy to have made HER happy. "I know, right. Try it."

She doesn't realize that dragons of different worlds may be different, and so files that piece of information away for use with another dragon. Gemstones can't be that hard to find.

But trying it doesn't seem so appealing. Especially since people are watching and it's impolite to eat with one's hands. She glances around, hoping no one else is watching.

"Ah, Ri..right." And then takes a nibble.

Spike, oblivious to anything that involves manners, simply watches her with a wide grin.

"You like it?"

How grateful she is that he simply doesn't care. If he did, she would be too embarrassed to say or do anything other than nod. But as that is not the case, she does smile. "I do.. Thank you."
