[Log: Completed] Zuko and Iroh
Who: Prince Zuko and his Awesome Uncle Iroh
What: First meeting in Paradisa!
When: Very soon after they converse on the journals.
Warnings: None, Very PG, Totally worksafe
Where: Zuko's Room
::it had taken him a moment to recover from the shock, and even longer to bang on all of the surrounding doors, demanding to know where his nephew was being kept, but finally, and slightly out of breath, Iroh had reached the door he believed his nephew to be behind, and without even the slightest pause, reduced it to cinders around him and stepped inside:: Zuko!
Zuko jumped almost like a five-year old in trouble, and turned to face his uncle meekly. YES, Meekly. That was the only word that could describe the way Prince Zuko of the fire nation was handling the barrage of his Uncle turning his door to ash. Great. Thankfully, it would probably be back up in a few hours, overnight, at the worst. "Er, hi, Uncle," he mumbled, looking down at the ground, refusing to meet Iroh's eye. The man was disappointed in him, hell he was disappointed in himself.
::he paused, and scanning Zuko's person, searching for a sign of injury or fatigue, upon the completed inspection he strode forward, and giving no room for protest embraced his abashed nephew:: Zuko...thank god your safe..
Zuko blinked, and looked at his uncle wide-eyed, before letting his uncle hug him. "Erm, yes, Uncle, I'm just fine..." he muttered, making sure to keep his hands out of his uncle's sight. Even though Katara had healed his first round of injuries, this second round (while mild compared to the first) had not had a chance to heal yet.
::when finally ending the embrace, Iroh paused and inhaled deeply, then stepped back and met Zuko's eyes with a very hard stare:: You know Zuko, what happened in Bah Sing Seh...the way you acted...Well, it was despicable. As the Prince of the Fire Nation, you shamed your family, nation, and self. It was behavior I would have expected from Zhao, or some criminal...but never from you.
Zuko swallowed, and looked away, down at his hands, the carpet, anything but his uncle. Why had he done it? He didn't even know now. A...plan..? He couldn't even remember. It had been something to do with the avatar, but the memories refused to surface, no matter what he did, no matter how hard he tried. "I know, Uncle," he said softly, still looking away. How could he convey that it had been an important reason...but that he couldn't remember?
::he blinked, a little startled that his nephew's telltale temper wasn't sparked by the lecture, and all other words of rebuke died on his lips. Something was strange here. He sighed slightly, shook his head and continued in a different tone:: Well, there's no need to dwell on the past. Especially in our current situation...::he looked briefly around Zuko's room, and gave another frustrated sigh:: Which is certainly most confusing. Where are we Zuko?
Zuko looked up, and blinked at his uncle, before sighing it off, shrugging and swallowing. "I don't know, Uncle," he admitted softly. He sighed, and stood to go to the window. Yeah, that was noncommittal enough, he just didn't know what to do. "Its some weird place...a place that seems to capture us here..." he explained softly.
Capture? ::He walked to Zuko's bed, and sat heavily upon it.:: But who is behind these captures? And who are these other prisoners? And what kind of tea would you like, Jasmine or Ginger?
Zuko blinked, and looked back at his uncle. "I have no idea," he admitted. "I've been trying to figure a way out with..." he trailed off. Katara, he wanted to say, but that was hardly appropriate. He would get teased. "Erm, with the Avatar and his friends," he admitted, before blinking. "Jasmine," he responded immediately, before shooting a glare. "How can you think about tea at this time!?" he growled.
::Iroh's face grew serious:: Zuko. I hoped I had taught you by now, that tea time is all the time. ::he began rumaging through his robes, pulling various tea-making items from hidden pockets:: Although I am impressed with your choice--Jasmine tea is truly the elite of tea! ::he lit a small and contained fire on the floor, balancing a kettle over the flames:: Ah..the Avatar is here? This is getting stranger and stranger...but the strangest thing yet is that you would seek the Avatar and his friends for help...
Zuko fought the urge to laugh at the typical actions of his uncle, and instead, sighed, and shook his head. He even ignored the comment about his tea choice, but blinked at his uncle. "You sound like that guy, Sokka," he said simply. "Why is it so weird?" he asked, shaking his head. He wasn't obsessed with the Avatar. The Avatar didn't seem to know him, so why would he be after him.
:he paused from his tea-making, and took a good long, hard look at Zuko. Something was very strange here..:: Zuko, I need you to be honest with me. Since you've been here...have you been given anything strange to eat? Has anyone done anything to you that might have...affected you, your personality maybe...
Zuko blinked, and shook his head. "No, Uncle," he said simply, giving him a skeptical look. "Why does everyone think I'm either crazy or drugged?" he growled, a bit of his temper flaring up. What was it about time before this place that meant he had to be an obsessed madman!?
::a brief smile flickered across his face at the return of his nephews temper, and he allowed himself a chuckle:: I see, you are still the same Zuko I know...::he poured the tea into two cups, and passed one to his nephew:: Nevertheless, when we last spoke of the Avatar together, you had a very different attitude...
Zuko took it more graciously than he should have. Okay, fine, he appreciated tea! "What does that mean!?" he asked simply, plopping down onto the floor rather stockily. Why did everyone think he and the Avatar had some sort of...of...Lovers Quarrel or something going on!? "All I know is that supposedly I was obsessed with him, which, is completely disgusting," he growled out.
::another hint of a smile:: Obsessed is a way of putting it...anyways, I think it's very healthy and mature you've put that behind you. Albiet, a little strange..::he sipped his tea, and attempted to ask in his most innocent voice:: Do you know if the avatar's friend is here...that attractive waterbender girl, Katara wasn't it?
Zuko almost dropped his tea, but instead looked away. "Yes, she is here," he mumbled, looking away and forcing the slight tinge of heat in his face to subside. Okay, so he thought she was pretty too, that didn't mean that his Uncle had to know that!
::he forced himself to swallow a chuckle, and tried to keep up to innocent farce:: Ah, she seemed like such a nice girl. You should really invite her over for tea. And to ah, discuss plans..
Zuko shot his uncle something of a glare. He had no verbal response to that, of course, because that would belay his inherent interest in the girl. No, instead he just glared, before taking another sip of tea. "Maybe," he said noncommitally, looking away.
Ah, but with those manners you aren't going to have much of a chance at a second date ::he smiled, sipped his tea:: Are all of the Avatar's friends here?
Zuko almost choked. "I didn't have a date," he growled, looking away. He sighed, and then set down the tea. It was unhealthy for him, obviously. "Yes, at least, as far as I know. Katara seemed to think they were all there," he mentioned offhand.
Ah, she did, did she? ::eyes glint playfully:: I'm glad you two have formed such a healthy alliance. ::he took another sip of tea to belay the growing laughter, and cleared his throat:: I'm glad that's true. I would like to see them all again, especially that unique young earthbender..
Zuko simply glared at his uncle. "Earthbender?" he asked simply.
::grin:: Yes...Toph is her name, I believe ::his face darkened suddenly, as a new and less pleasant thought crossed his mind:: ..have you seen Azula here?
Zuko blinked, and his face darkned. "I saw her on these...journals...but then she simply...vanished...like she was never here," he explained, shaking his head. Azula put him on edge, worried him.
Hm. This is distressing...And I am not totally convinced that this isn't somehow Ozai's doing ::he glanced around Zuko's room another time:: Although pink bedsheets aren't exactly his style..::he sighed again, and closed his eyes as if deep in contemplation. Finally, his head snapped up and he met Zuko's eyes with an odd smile:: Well, I've figured out what our next course of action should be.
Zuko blinked, and eyed his uncle in questioning. "What should that be, then, Uncle?" he asked simply, rather curious to know what it would be. So help him, if it was "sit and drink another cup of tea' he was going to hurt ... something.
We should have another cup of tea! ::he grinned, then seeing the murderous expression on his nephews face, quickly said:: What I mean is, we need to wait and see what develops. We need to gather information, about our prison and about our captors...and you need to get your hair cut--it's looking a little unruly.
Zuko had tightened his hand at the mention of more tea, before fighting it off with the idea of at least a little logic. "For that, we should probably talk to the Avatar's allies, they've been doing just that," he stated simply, and then glared at his uncle. "As long as it is isn't you who cuts my hair...you're liable to burn it off," he stated simply. He enjoyed having hair, now that he had it.
::He smiled slightly, his expression softening:: You've been busy Zuko...I'm proud of how quickly you've adapted to this situation, you remind me more and more of..of..::he shook his head, an overwhelming feeling of nausea and blurriness overcoming him as he raised a hand to his head::
Zuko blinked, and rushed to his uncle. "Uncle, are you alright?" he asked, tipping his head. He then smiled weakly. "Lu Ten, right?" he asked, shaking his head.
::he blinked, regaining composure and gently shaking Zuko away:: I'm fine, I'm fine...::a bemused expression crossed his face:: Lu Ten? What a nice name...Is he one of your friends here?
Zuko blinked, and gave his uncle one of those worried glances, before he shook his head sadly. "No, Uncle, he's just someone we knew back home," he said sadly, and sighed. Did this place take something from everybody?
We knew him? Hm. I seem to have forgotten him...::he smiled brightly, and began pouring himself another cup of tea:: He must not have been that important, right? ::he chuckled::
Zuko sighed, and retrieved his cup of tea from the floor. "He was...an important person, Uncle," he explained, feeling very sad, all of the sudden. "But his time passed a long time ago," he admitted.
::he paused, noting the sadness that seemed to suddenly fill the room, and placed a gentle hand on Zuko's shoulder:: Zuko, I am sorry you seem to have lost a friend...These loses are always hard. ::he rewarmed his tea thoughtfully with a small flame in hand:: I remember when father passed...and of course, the many good men I lost in battle of Bah Sing Seh..
Zuko blinked, and looked at his uncle with a tinge of sadness, before sighing heavily, and nodding. "Yes, but the best thing to do is move on," he growled, shaking his head. How could his uncle forget his own son? It worried him, but was beyond his real scope of problems right now. He had to hope that his uncle would regain his memories when they returned to their world.
::he nodded, sipped the tea, and allowed himself the slightest hint of a smirk:: Yes, moving on is a very good idea. Especially if there is someone there to help us move on. Especially if that person is a pretty girl from the northern water tribe...
Zuko blinked, and blushed. "Are you going to keep on that!?" he growled, looking at his uncle with a small amount of disdain. "Katara isn't interested in me," he stated simply.
Ah, she isn't interested in you yet. And yes, I fully intend to keep on this subject in order to insure that my favorite nephew grows up with the skills necessary to become a fine man. with a lovely wife. and lots of children ::secretly just wants grandnephews and nieces to spoil::
Zuko blinked, and blushed profusely. "U-UNCLE!?" he growled, hand tightening around the teacup. "Aren't you getting ahead of yourself!?" he growled, blushing at him profusely, before staring down into his tea.
::he chuckled gently:: I was speaking of the long-term plan, nephew. For now...I think a nice hot bath is in order! And then maybe a stroll around the castle grounds...and maybe I could find someone to play Pai Sho with me! ::dreamy expression:: Perhaps being a prisoner here isn't such a bad thing..
Zuko looked at his uncle with exhasperation. Should the man ever Change, Zuko would think that the world would have something seriously wrong with it. "I hope you find someone, Uncle," he said simply, and gave him an encouraging smile, before shaking his head, and taking a long, finishing drink of his tea.
Ah, yes. I'd better return to my quaters, I'll meet with you later to discuss the information we've gathered. And for more tea. ::He smiled, but his eyes betrayed a hint of sadness:: And Zuko...this doesn't mean I've forgotten about Bah Sing Seh. I hope you show me you are not the spoiled son of Ozai, but the true heir and Prince of the Fire Nation. ::his smile widened, and he called out before making a rather quick exit:: And I'm certain the Avatar and..friends..have much to teach you.
Zuko blinked, and looked down, sighing. "Yes Uncle, I know you haven't forgotten," he said simply. "I just..." he couldn't explain himself. He didn't know how to articulate what he had been planning by going away with Azula...although he did not think he was a very worth heir to the Fire nation. No, but that was not something he would wish to verbalize to his uncle. "I will prove to you that I am worthy of being trusted again, Uncle," he said decisevely. There, that was vague but honest enough to work.
