○ 013 Transmission
[Originally, Rookie had planned on spending the morning outside today to enjoy the fresh air, but decided against it when recalling the piles of leaves that were still littering the castle's grounds. Having no real interest in wasting the duration of his afternoon with plucking foliage out of his armor - as that usually tended to be how his evenings were spent once he returned indoors - the ODST could instead be found sprawled out in a nice little corner of Paradisa's lobby with the journal purposely propped open over his helmet.
Luckily for those listening, however, it wasn't snoring that was being transmitted over the pages today.]
[Filtered to those in the UNSC - except the Meta.]
Hey. Been meaning to bring this up, but I have some technology for you guys to check out. Grabbed it back when we all got separated during the expedition. Not sure if any of you would actually be interested in it though, seeing as a lot of it's broken, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to mention.
[/Filter]
[Once that was said and done, Rookie gave a soft sigh before moving on to the next two filters. Since he may as well cover all his bases while he was doing the whole journal thing.]
[Ted]
Doing any better, civvy?
[/Filter]
[Kallen]
Hey... [Bit of an awkward pause, since he was still trying to settle on whether or not to go through with this.] You have a moment?
[/Filter]
(ooc: Feel free to come across Rookie in the lobby, but other than that replies will be after I sleep. o/)

Didn't see you as the coffee drinking type, Rookie.
no subject
That might be because I'm not.
no subject
I see.
no subject
But that silence just causes the ODST to watch her curiously, before lightly shaking his head with a laugh.]
... Anyway, ma'am. Didn't mean to make you wait. [Taking a couple of steps towards that door in order to unlock it, before he's propping it open and nodding for her to lead the way.] Since I'm sure you'd rather not spend all day out in the hallway.
no subject
You never can know for sure.
no subject
[Then he'll make a point to gesture down the hallway and towards the
not quite as fancykitchen (http://theluxhome.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Contemporary-Hanex-kitchen-counter-and-breakfast-bar-3-533x570.jpg).]But the piece of tech I mentioned is over there on the counter.
no subject
She's not quite sure what she's looking at, so she glances over at him for possible explanation.]
no subject
It's... some kind of music box, I think. Worked once on the expedition, when I used one of those power crystals on it, but it shorted out. [He'll lean forwards to prop open one of the seven, petal-like latches on the top, revealing the technological mess inside.] Haven't figured out a way to fix it since.
no subject
We could try opening it all the way up. Map out where pieces were when they started.
no subject
I doubt we could do any further damage to it, anyway, if we're careful.
no subject
Did anything else you find indicate what might have made the device?
no subject
Most of the items I came across were too different in design to be part of the same make-up, much less from the same world. [He'll move to lean away from the counter and fold his arms, keeping his attention directed towards that box.] Did try my best to grab whatever looked interesting, though, but so far this is the only item that's shown any promise of working.
(ooc: Picture (http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb303/Amabree/Musicboxtech.jpg) btw. There's also only six petals instead of seven, 'cause I'm a dummy. o/)
no subject
Interesting. [Opening another petal, trying to navigate her fingers inside.] Do you have experience with alien tech? [Because lol she doesn't.]
no subject
Just a crash course in Covenant. [To... put it roughly, since he learned quite a bit just by observation and improvising when the situation called for it.] But other than that, no.
Pretty much clueless on stuff like this in general.
[But if Carolina can get past all the technical junk, she might be able to find that crystal buried underneath it all somewhere.]
no subject
Rookie.
[She doesn't even touch the crystal, having some small experience with Covenant weaponry being volatile. So, she tilts the device gingerly toward him.]
no subject
He does, however, allow a questioning cant of his visor when hearing his name, before shifting forwards to see what it was that she had found. Only when seeing the crystal did Rookie seem more interested, and he reached a hand out to carefully pull back some of the stuff inside to get a clearer view.]
A crystal? [Pause.] I wonder what that's for.
This got somehow lost in my inbox 8(
There were mentions on the expedition of power crystals that the Castle gave the residents last year for Christmas. It could be something similar.
No worries. ; ; I could just fail at replyin', lmao.
When all he felt was a tingling sensation, and noticed a dim shimmer of light that grew brighter in reaction to the touch, he pulled his hand away.] ... Don't think so, though.
NEVER. :3
Did you feel anything?
[More worried that it did something to him rather than the other way around.]
<33333
Yeah. [Staring down towards the crystal once more.] Kind of felt like my hand was falling asleep.
<3!
Odd. [She looks over at the device as well, not really knowing enough about alien technology to figure out what could do that.]
no subject
It's probably nothing to worry about, but I have a feeling we're not going to know a whole lot about this thing until we actually get it working.
no subject
Copy that. [She shifts her weight, before responding confidently.] We'll figure it out eventually.
