[Originally, Rookie had planned on spending the morning outside today to enjoy the fresh air, but decided against it when recalling the piles of leaves that were still littering the castle's grounds. Having no real interest in wasting the duration of his afternoon with plucking foliage out of his armor - as that usually tended to be how his evenings were spent once he returned indoors - the ODST could instead be found sprawled out in a nice little corner of Paradisa's lobby with the journal purposely propped open over his helmet.

Luckily for those listening, however, it wasn't snoring that was being transmitted over the pages today.]

Hey. Been meaning to bring this up, but I have some technology for you guys to check out. Grabbed it back when we all got separated during the expedition. Not sure if any of you would actually be interested in it though, seeing as a lot of it's broken, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to mention.

[Once that was said and done, Rookie gave a soft sigh before moving on to the next two filters. Since he may as well cover all his bases while he was doing the whole journal thing.]

[There are some parts that are easy enough to take out, but others stay where they are and refuse to move.

He does, however, allow a questioning cant of his visor when hearing his name, before shifting forwards to see what it was that she had found. Only when seeing the crystal did Rookie seem more interested, and he reached a hand out to carefully pull back some of the stuff inside to get a clearer view.]

A crystal? [Pause.] I wonder what that's for.

There were mentions on the expedition of power crystals that the Castle gave the residents last year for Christmas. It could be something similar.

Could be. [He takes a moment to hover over the crystal, mostly to consider touching it, before he'll shrug and tap the surface gently to see what it'd do.

When all he felt was a tingling sensation, and noticed a dim shimmer of light that grew brighter in reaction to the touch, he pulled his hand away.] ... Don't think so, though.

[Carolina isn't so sure about him touching it but fff Rookie's already touching the crystal. Well. At least nothing's blowing up.]

[Rookie keeps quiet for a moment, lifting his hand to about eye level to flex and wiggle his fingers before finally letting it drop back down onto the counter.]

Yeah. [Staring down towards the crystal once more.] Kind of felt like my hand was falling asleep.

[Carolina watches him intently, looking for any sign of something dangerous.]

Odd. [She looks over at the device as well, not really knowing enough about alien technology to figure out what could do that.]

[Luckily, there were none. Though he did appear to be more wary of the trinket, even as he gave a nod in agreement.]

It's probably nothing to worry about, but I have a feeling we're not going to know a whole lot about this thing until we actually get it working.
