[It starts with a thump, a groan, and a muffled curse, probably nothing too out of the ordinary.] --the hell?

[Then two beats of silence, and the voice on the other end sounds almost awed.] ...Whoa. What is this place?

[There's some more silence, while on the other end, Kanji is peering around at the lobby, quite clueless and confused. As far as he's concerned the only explanation is one that should make no sense whatsoever, so he's starting to get frustrated and muttering.]

...can't be. If the damn bear--

[And then he raises his voice, sounding more mildly annoyed and lost than actually angry.] You hear me? If this is your fault, you're gonna get a swift kick in the ass! Come out, dammit!

You're right, it does sound really crazy. I just... dammit. I just saw everybody; how long you been here?

Well, it's thirty-first right now and I got here... [A pause while he mentally counts back] The tenth. We can't get a hold of anyone from home while we're here, and no one is going to notice us missing. Time's paused or...Something, I didn't really get the full explanation on that.

[Especially since you sort of confirmed it for him with claiming to have just seen him] And there's a whole lot more.

But I just-- Time really did stop? Dammit! This place just gets weirder and weirder.

[A pause] What else should I know?

That's not even the worst of it. It makes...Changes, to the people and the world whenever it wants! And...It takes something when you get here, but nothing like money. Like a memory, or a skill, so...

[You could be totally helpless in a fight dude, and they'd have no idea until you tried it :\]

...We're the only ones from home, other than Nanako.

[Kanji]

This is a filter, it...makes sure no one can see this but us. Adachi's here too.

I-- [He sounds very worried; almost scared] I heard. How...is there a way to know?

[Skills--oh god, what if he can't sew anymore? But Kanji shakes his head. The next part comes after a bit, and it's actually written. By the way, his handwriting is a chicken-scratch.]

[To Yosuke-senpai]
...Hope I'm doing it right. And he's really here? ~~I'll kick his--~~ What's he up to?

Mine was...easy to figure out. [He still sounds absolutely pissed about this, however] A memory will crop up sooner or later, right? Someone will mention something and you'll realize you have no idea, but you should. A skill...that's harder.

[He's not exactly going to suggest they jump into a tv and find something to kill and hope it works and he's not sure what else Kanji can do that would be worth taking. It's okay, Yosuke's writing isn't much better]

[Kanji]

Looks good. Yeah, he is. He didn't say anything until Nanako-chan mentioned him. [A pause] I haven't...She's why I'm filtering this. I don't know where in the timeline the castle yanked her from, and she's been in the castle by herself with him for what sounds like a really long time.

If she doesn't know, we shouldn't scare her. So far he hasn't done anything, that I can see anyway. Nobody's died or gone missing in a way they aren't supposed too.

[It's frustrating. Because there's no way Yosuke will believe Adachi's really trying to just kick back and relax]

What... What did they take?

What if I can't sew no more or something?

[The thought that he'd lose his Persona ability or the ability to fight at all hasn't crossed his mind, though luckily (or perhaps not) for him, it's just memories that's gone.]

[Yosuke]

Shit. Is she alright? She'd tell you if he'd done something, right? Or if anybody had done something?

But I think you're right. Only thing we can do is keep a real close eye on him and make sure he does nothin' Where does he hang out and stuff?

Something to do with Saki-senpai.

[And the conversation on that is effectively over. He's barely coming to terms with it, and he's really not comfortable getting into what it was or how it was important. His life sucks ;; ] Dude, who the hell cares about?! Sewing isn't even important!

[Kanji]

She seems fine. The same as she did at home, and...If he did anything before I got here, she didn't say anything. I think she would, if they had.

[He has to believe being Souji's best friend affords him some trust, and it's not like he hasn't spent any time with her at home or here. Not to mention he's living with her right now] Not...Exactly too sure on that. He's kind of a hard guy to find, when he wants to be. Hopefully with you here searching the castle will be much easier!

Yeah it is! Maybe not for you, but I'm gonna be takin' over the shop from Ma when she retires. I can't run a textiles shop if I can't sew!

...And makin' dolls makes me happier than about just anything else.

[Yosuke]

I'll definitely help you keep an eye on him, but I guess I gotta find my room first? Some guy said I had one... It's real good you've been here to look out for her.

Kanji, the shop isn't here! If he we can't even get out, that's really not going to matter!

[A pause, okay even if he doesn't get it, losing anything is pretty shitty so he'll just...drop it]

[Kanji]

Thanks. You mean you didn't show up there? I arrived in mine. It should have a name plate on it, when you do find it.

Want a hand? [He kind of appreciates the comment, but it feels embarrassing to have it pointed out too] Well, she's a good kid.

It does-- It's a part of me. They took away parts of us, senpai. That's just-- It's--

[He sounds a little scared, under the agitation.]

[Yosuke]

Nope. Showed up down here; wherever it is. It looks like some kinda fancy lobby or something?

And that'd be cool. This place looks pretty big and I ain't even left the first room yet.

...Yeah. [He falls quiet, for a couple of minutes. But fake confidence is a go, at that bit of fear] But after everything we've done? Come on man, this is nothing. We'll get out of here, with what they took from us.

[Kanji]

Dude, tell me about it. It has towers on top of regular floors, and there's a city outside? It's more than easy to get lost. Some rooms even look different depending on the day of the week.

I'll be down soon, I'm not far.

[Even if it's fake, it bolsters his own flagging confidence a lot.] Yeah. You're right. Together we'll find the way home and we'll get what they took back while we're at it!

[Yosuke]

Really? Damn, this place is gonna be confusing. But I'll be here! Not plannin on moving just yet.

And we might as well take down the castle so it can't do this to anyone else, while we're at it!

[He's glad it's helping, he's...Never been so good at dealing with people, much less their emotions]

[Kanji]

Yeah, like...Nanako-chan's favourite room is a beach two days of the week, and winter another two.

[And after a few minutes, you'll spot a very familiar headphone wearing kid ambling into the lobby]

Yeah! We can't let it keep kidnapping people! That sucks and we've totally got to find a way to stop it.

[Yosuke]

Really? That actually sounds cool.

[He's contemplating the idea of the room when he spots the headphones.] Hey, Yosuke-senpai, over here!

It'd be great if we could do that before anyone else got stuck here.

[Even if the whole mess would be easier to figure out with more of the team around]

[Kanji]

Yeah, a real picnic.

[He turns right away at the sound and plasters a grin on his face, lifting his arm in a wave and gesturing Kanji over] At least you're not on the first four floors! We'll use the elevator for the rest.

[Except the towers, they'd have to come back to the lobby for the entrances]

Yeah, we gotta make this quick.

Anyway, lead on senpai. You can show me where the important stuff is while we look for this room of mine.

Right! But get settled in first. We can wait that long, at least.

Uh...Important? I guess the kitchen, which is right over there. [And he'll point to the door in the lobby, and then to another nearby] Ballroom! I...Don't even know why it's there, but castles have them, I guess. The clinic is on the second floor.

[He'll be skipping that floor though, because Kanji's room isn't on it, and start heading to the elevator with a gesture for him to follow]

Right, kitchen. So anybody can cook in there?

[He'll mostly be quiet while they walk though, obviously looking around at everything.]

Hopefully I won't need the clinic anytime soon, but still good to know.
