Seventh Mind Read - Getting Down to Business

[Having finally having had a chance to speak with Fred about his plans for Cerebro, Charles figures it's high time he spoke with his other potential assistants. He knows it's a big project, but it'll be well worth everyone's time in the long run. Sitting out on the roof, Charles clears his throat a moment, before writing a filter into his journal.]

[Filtered to Dr. Ray Stantz]

Dr. Stantz? It's Charles Xavier. I'm not sure if your memory doppleganger told you about me, but I have a project I'm working on that I'd appreciate your help with. I've discussed it already with Fred, but it's promising to be a fairly large undertaking, so I'm looking for all the help I can get. Given what I observed in your memories, I believe you're the sort of scientist who could help me in this endeavor.

We can discuss it in person, or over the journal if you like. I'm free either way.

[Filtered to Yuan of the Peace Patrol]

Yuan? It's Charles Xavier. I'm not sure if we've been properly introduced, but I have something I wish to discuss with you. I'm planning on, with help, building a device that can amplify and broadcast my telepathy, for use during crises such as what we faced with Legato and Riful. I'm wondering if I might have your permission to actually build the thing in the Peace Patrol's headquarters, for the sake of transparency toward it's purpose, as I imagine that some in the castle would want such a powerful tool regulated.

[Filtered to The Fifth and Eleventh Doctors]

Hello chaps, I apologize for being out of contact for so long. As it turns out, researching the technology and theory behind long-range telepathic projection took much more of my attention than I'd intended. Keeping out of trouble I hope?

Anyway, the main reason I'm filtering to the both of you is to ask for your help. You both obviously have some experience with the sort of technology I'm trying to re-create here, so I'd be honored if you'd assist I, and the others helping me in making Cerebro a reality. I've had the chance to discuss the idea with Fred, and she seems to be on board, and I've contacted Dr. Ray Stantz, asking for his help as well. If there's anyone else either of you can think of who could help, by all means, don't hesitate to let me know.

[/Filter]

[With all of those filters out of the way, Charles can be found on the roof, gazing out at the town, getting his first bit of fresh air since his brief detention during the castle's brief lockout.]

Is anyone else as curious as I am as to how the castle was so thoroughly rearranged? I'm not complaining or anything, I just think it would have been a fascinating procedure to watch. Has anything like this happened before?

[MOLOTOV IS ALWAYS ON THE ROOF, no not always, but a lot. Also, she is an elf right now, and something about that keeps driving her to be outside as much as possible.

She peeks out from behind a turret to snort a little.]

Were you not told? The castle is magic. What else is there to be curious about?

What, you think all the furniture grew legs and walked around like a cartoon? Perhaps there was a song and dance involved.

I think it is more likely that the castle used whatever magic grants the wishes and simply made everything appear in a different place.

I cannot say that I understand what there is to be fascinated by. The castle uses its magic to make us miserable -- who cares how it works?

I am not an elf, and I have been here long enough to realize that there is no way out. Whatever magic is controlling this place, it is far more powerful than anyone it brings here. Someone told me that they knew people capable of creating this kind of place. And yet, none of them are here.

I think that the castle would not bring someone that can thwart it.

Elves are disgusting. I am fairly sure this is why the castle turned me into this. Because the castle makes people miserable.

In love with the place? Nyet, I hate this world. But that does not mean I am willing to waste time and energy fighting and trying to manipulate something greater than myself. Besides, I would think there are more interesting things for a scientist to investigate than a world which refuses to share secrets. Like those bizarre ponies. Those must be interesting to a scientist.

I suppose, if you consider the abomination of interspecies breeding to be "not so bad" and merely "uptight". Nyet, the elves are repulsive.

That may be, but part of being wise is being aware of when you are fighting a losing battle, and figuring out instead ways to make your situation bearable. Do you not think it a bit presumptuous of yourself to believe that you are so smart that you can do what hundreds, if not thousands, of people before you attempted so hard and for so long?

Look for the pink one. I am sure she would provide hours of interesting study.

[Her tone is a little dry on that one.]

[Jealous? Maybe of the fact that her dog-slash-boyfriend seems interested in some of the lady elves around here, and she knows that lady elves are into human men. And Brock is irresistible! But jealous of huge ears and weird eyebrows? Not so much.]

There is a difference between evolution and the horrible hybrid offspring of two species. Would you father a child with a chimpanzee? I think not.

If you wish to waste your time, that is no concern of mine. I am merely telling you that, if there is an exit, there is no way to reach it. And if there was, do you think the castle would really let you leave without doing something horrible to you?

Whether or not any children are actually born is irrelevant. The fact remains that you would probably not have sex with a primate, I would hope, and I can hardly see how the elves are anything but lesser. And the elves do have children with humans, just not here. In their own worlds. And it is utterly disgusting.

If you want to help people, you would be better off trying to solve losses and world changes and all of the other ridiculousness the castle puts us through. What good is searching for an out if the castle can ruin your progress at any time?
