I had a cat when I was a kid, so I've got th' surplus knowledge o' takin' care o' it for most o' me childhood.

Yeah, though you'll wanna aim fer it's face. It seems cruel, but it don' hurt 'em at all, jus' bothers 'em enough t'act as a deterrent.

He's going to get pretty irritated with me, I think, but he's nearly destroyed part of my bedpost.

He'll get over it, cats are tougher'n they look.

Well, since yer cat's a "he", an' I'm assumin' you'll be keepin' a litterbox for 'im, I'll advise ya t'keep it up pretty regularly. It's gross, but male cats tend t'stink up a litterbox pretty quickly.
