[Josh is currently trudging back into the castle, his journal tucked under one arm, a book with a solid black cover in his left hand, and more creepily, a dead bird in his right hand. He also looks like he hasn't really slept or eaten in a few days.

As soon as he's in he'll wobble over to a couch and collapse in it, before laying the journal open next to him and staring intently at the dead bird for a few moments. Then he'll flip open to a page he has bookmarked and read a passage just as intently.

With a deep breath he'll put the book down next to the journal and hold the bird in both hands before that healing glow of his starts up.

Several moments will pass and nothing will happen.

The bird is still dead, and Josh has failed.]

Fuck. Dammit why?

[He'll let the bird drop to the floor and bury his face in his hands... which is just a little disturbing since he was just holding a dead bird and he clearly didn't wash his hands before doing that.]

What the hell is wrong with me? I can fix every stupid cut the people in the city have, and I can't fix this one fucking bird.

((OOC. Eris'd))

[LOL what a loser. Claire's amused, but also acknowledges that this kid has issues or something.]

Looks pretty dead ta me.

[Claire takes a seat by Josh, grabbing his shoulder reassuringly. Very seriously:]

What are you gonna do with it?

[A beat.] Your skin's kinda a weird color.

I can see that, but now that you know you can't, what are ya gonna do?

[Claire is crazy, too. And he only thinks he's immortal, but he really isn't. I guess he tops... when it comes to being crazy.]

Are you human?

I hope you don't mind if I watch, then.

[Claire knows his manners, so he doesn't read over the boy's shoulder. Wtf is it, a bible?]

I talked to a mutant the other day. Is that what you are? I understand there are people out there who are lookin' ta kill ya.

Does that book say it's possible to revive the dead? [He leans over, elbows on knees, watching in ... composed.... fascination.

He'll wait until Josha finishes, not wanting to break his concentration on what ever it is he's doing.]

Is that why you're so intent on helpin' living things? To prove you're not somethin' to fear?

[identity profile] stuello.livejournal.com 2011-02-06 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Then it has something ta do with proving yourself?

[identity profile] stuello.livejournal.com 2011-02-06 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Are you sure? 'Cause you're so focused on this dead bird, when you could be helping the actual living.

[identity profile] stuello.livejournal.com 2011-02-06 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like an excuse ta me. What killed this bird, anyway? Or did you randomly find its corpse and decide to revive it.

I'm not sure how your healing power works, but maybe you should restore your energy by gettin' rest.

You're doin' this bird no good. You might as well bury it, if you feel that strongly. If it was meant to come back, it would've.

Only immortals live forever. [Only I will never die.]

[All of the sudden, Claire bursts out laughing.] Hahahaha, you really are too much! You're capable of healing and granting that sort of power to people? And you're fixated on the corpse of a bird? I don't understand it! You're so interesting, haha.

[He stands up, crossing his arms.]

Let's go find something for you ta fix, then.

Can you fix plants? Or is it just livin' beings like ourselves that you can heal?
