[Josh is currently trudging back into the castle, his journal tucked under one arm, a book with a solid black cover in his left hand, and more creepily, a dead bird in his right hand. He also looks like he hasn't really slept or eaten in a few days.
As soon as he's in he'll wobble over to a couch and collapse in it, before laying the journal open next to him and staring intently at the dead bird for a few moments. Then he'll flip open to a page he has bookmarked and read a passage just as intently.
With a deep breath he'll put the book down next to the journal and hold the bird in both hands before that healing glow of his starts up.
Several moments will pass and nothing will happen.
The bird is still dead, and Josh has failed.]
Fuck. Dammit why?
[He'll let the bird drop to the floor and bury his face in his hands... which is just a little disturbing since he was just holding a dead bird and he clearly didn't wash his hands before doing that.]
What the hell is wrong with me? I can fix every stupid cut the people in the city have, and I can't fix this one fucking bird.
((OOC. Eris'd))

I'm just...
I'm trying to figure out how to revive it.
[Pointing to the bird on the floor]

Looks pretty dead ta me.

Exactly.

What are you gonna do with it?
[A beat.] Your skin's kinda a weird color.

[sounds so crah-zee... if you were anyone besides some weird immortal type guy maybe.]
Yeah... it comes along with the healing.

[Claire is crazy, too. And he only thinks he's immortal, but he really isn't. I guess he tops... when it comes to being crazy.]
Are you human?
no subject
[You and your subtle attempts at double meanings.
Josh'll pick up the black book and drop it on his lap, looking down at the passage he'd been reading earlier again. WHY CAN'T HE DO THIS?]
Sort of... it's complicated.

[Claire knows his manners, so he doesn't read over the boy's shoulder. Wtf is it, a bible?]
I talked to a mutant the other day. Is that what you are? I understand there are people out there who are lookin' ta kill ya.

[Book on necromancy! Slightly different from the bible...]
Yeah. And I don't know which of us you talked to, but back home we're not that welcomed.
[picking up the dead bird... or whatever dead animal he found since Steph through his away, I guess. And his hands start to glow again while he stares down at it intently. HEEAAAAL B(]

He'll wait until Josha finishes, not wanting to break his concentration on what ever it is he's doing.]
Is that why you're so intent on helpin' living things? To prove you're not somethin' to fear?

[Finally stops and... the bird is still dead. Josh looks like he either wants to cry, or toss the bird at the wall. Instead he just drops it again.]
No... not exactly.

Not at all.

If I can't crack how to fix this bird, I'll never have a chance of fixing anyone alive. ... Not the way I could.

[One of the reasons he's so tired now. Well, that plus the obvious lack of sleep.]
A cat. I didn't get to it in time to save it...

You're doin' this bird no good. You might as well bury it, if you feel that strongly. If it was meant to come back, it would've.
Only immortals live forever. [Only I will never die.]
no subject
Yeah but... [frowns] I can give someone super strength and make them basically invulnerable to things like bullets, I should be able to do this one thing.

I just... I want to be able to fix everything.
no subject
Let's go find something for you ta fix, then.
