[Josh is currently trudging back into the castle, his journal tucked under one arm, a book with a solid black cover in his left hand, and more creepily, a dead bird in his right hand. He also looks like he hasn't really slept or eaten in a few days.

As soon as he's in he'll wobble over to a couch and collapse in it, before laying the journal open next to him and staring intently at the dead bird for a few moments. Then he'll flip open to a page he has bookmarked and read a passage just as intently.

With a deep breath he'll put the book down next to the journal and hold the bird in both hands before that healing glow of his starts up.

Several moments will pass and nothing will happen.

The bird is still dead, and Josh has failed.]

Fuck. Dammit why?

[He'll let the bird drop to the floor and bury his face in his hands... which is just a little disturbing since he was just holding a dead bird and he clearly didn't wash his hands before doing that.]

What the hell is wrong with me? I can fix every stupid cut the people in the city have, and I can't fix this one fucking bird.

I'm not sure how your healing power works, but maybe you should restore your energy by gettin' rest.

You're doin' this bird no good. You might as well bury it, if you feel that strongly. If it was meant to come back, it would've.

Yeah but... [frowns] I can give someone super strength and make them basically invulnerable to things like bullets, I should be able to do this one thing.

[All of the sudden, Claire bursts out laughing.] Hahahaha, you really are too much! You're capable of healing and granting that sort of power to people? And you're fixated on the corpse of a bird? I don't understand it! You're so interesting, haha.

[Looks startled. He didn't expect that. HE'S HAVING SERIOUS ANGST HERE, CLAIRE]

I just... I want to be able to fix everything.

[He stands up, crossing his arms.]

Let's go find something for you ta fix, then.

[Stands up too, but staring at Claire like "wut"]

Can you fix plants? Or is it just livin' beings like ourselves that you can heal?

I've never actually tried plants... but I might be able to?
