I'm pretty sure I've ate, slept, and abused the never-ending stream of hot water in this place.

How about I meet you for Pie and coffee when you get off shift. [she's assuming that she's working, because - really - Jilly is like Jo in that sense of working until someone tells her that she's been there too long]

Anyone who was worried, I'm okay.

Anyone who doesn't know why other people were worried? [an amused tone] Don't worry about it now, 'cause I'm fine. [a pause] I am vetoing any camping trips in the near future, though.

I've been trying to answer questions about what happened, 'least when people ask 'em. For the most part though, I'm on the side voting that this wasn't the castle. If there are sides.

So, if anyone else wants to ask me anything about that whole week I was gone - I'm an open book.

When are you gonna be free for ... [thinks about it] ten minutes? I went by the room this morning and you must've been wandering. You do realize that if you get lost, I'm gonna have to come find you.

Then you'll be in trouble.

[Sunday should be her day off...but since she's been doing some investigating in town about the missing townspeople? That's close enough]

You know? That sounds amazing. And I think I've done just about all I can do here, so I'm available whenever.

[what's this? investigating? Jo is all over that, too]

How about I head out toward wherever you are?

Sure. I'm was just talking with some of the town police [who'd have thought], but I could meet you at the fountain?

I'll leave here in a few and meet you in - [thinks about it] - fifteen minutes?

[she saw Sam... sort of leave quickly, so she'll have to talk to him later. Either way, she heads to town and makes her way to the fountain, zipping her jacket up a bit higher]

I'll be there.

[and, by the time Jo arrives, the fountain is where she will be. Her journal is open on her knee and she's doodling on the corner of the page but, today, she's more intent on what people are saying than actually drawing.]

Last I checked, I'm not the one who's the trouble magnet here.

How's your wrist? Did you do as I say and get some rest? Keep pressure off it?

I figured you'd want to poke at it or something. It's bruised. Which I didn't think it was that purple before.

[moves over toward Jilly, taking a seat beside her]

Hey, stranger. [smiles]

You're going to have to learn to make an appointment for things like this. I can't be expected to sit around and wait for you on my hands and knees.

[a pause]

Only joking. Anything for a roommate. Why don't you come round now or do you want me to drop by uh... Sam's room?

[she sighs... really the 'hands and knees' comment had a bit of a tone to it]

Sam's out... and I'm on my way back to the castle now, so I'll just come by the room.

Which part of, I told you to get more rest, meant you could go wandering out of the castle?

Tell me you didn't ditch the sling I gave you. [he'd insisted she put it on the other night just so he could make sure to limit the movement of her hand and keep her wrist elevated]

[looking up with a smile, though it falters a bit as she takes in her arm] Stranger's right.

You had me worried...

[careful of her wrist, she's already in store for a lecture]

Sorry, I promise not to get kidnapped by nefarious people without letting you know.

[sighs] It's been a long... [another exhale, and a knowing glance]

Pie. I think pie sounds really good.

[.... she doesn't even have it on now... CRAP. It's probably in her room still]

I ditched it... Chase, it seriously is just a sprain. I'm being careful, but I can't just immobilize my arm.

You can't just immobilize your arm. [yes, he's using that very dead tone of someone who's not at all amused. look who's in trouble now]

Just a sprain, yeah? Now let me tell you something. If you don't do as I say, instead of your little injury taking another week or two to heal, it's going to take ten weeks. Can you imagine living with this for the next two months? Do you want to?

[she just walks in, since she lives there too]

Are you always this much of a pain in the ass? [door-slam!]

Well, are you? [chase puts the new bandage down on the sofa and walks over to her. he's not impressed by the slamming of the door by the way]

Take a seat. [watch him frown. you're in so much trouble now]

[glares, she used her GOOD hand to slam the door and she'll just stand there]

I didn't do anything wrong, Chase. I just didn't follow all the billion directions you gave me.

It was an easy set of directions, and you didn't think you could follow it?

Now sit. [he stabs his finger at the sofa]

[there's an annoyed angry sound, that comes with her exhaling, but she'll sit]

Easy sure, practical - not so much.

[chase sits next to her and gently takes hold of her wrist, glad that it's still wrapped at least]

The bruising's normal but let me repeat to you what you should be doing just so you can get this healed real quick, okay? Are you listening? Or do you need me to write it down for you somewhere? Maybe get a ghost to keep an eye on you just so I know you're not purposely being careless? [do they do that? because he would definitely sic one on her if she keeps being this stubborn]

As long as there's warning. [Her tone was as light as she could make it, all things considered. She wasn't in a lecturing mood. Just concerned.]

I'm thinking I agree.

[snapping her journal shut, she tucks it under one arm] Pie. Coffee. Absolutely no nefarious plottings for at least an hour.

[sighs, again, but sits still]

I'm not being purposely careless. I just left the sling in my room, because I didn't want Sam to worry any more than he was. He gets this ... wounded puppy look. It's not exactly my favorite.

[she's going to be lectured by Chase... she's sans sling for her wrist]

Good. [starts to walk toward the Pie Hole]

Find out anything good from the townspeople?

You're worried about getting your boyfriend worried so you decided to play your injury down? [just stares]

You do understand that he's not an idiot? At least I hope so. [wow. years of working with house has definitely rub off on him. chase slowly unwraps the bandage and when he sees the bruising, he tells jo to keep her hand elevated while he quickly goes to grab some ice]

Icing it usually only works during the first forty eight hours after an injury but since the bruising seems to be worsening, I'm going to ice the area for fifteen minutes. You've got time?
