[the clinic was much closer than his room; even with anyone on staff there, he didn't want to chance no one being there and leaving Cloud with nothing to help him with. running with the brutally crippled Subaru in his arms, he spotted Saber in her spirit form close by. it was fortunate that Zelman put a stop to Legato when he did - otherwise his Servant would have had to step in. god only knew that she was mere moments away before Cloud broke free.

never too far, he was even more grateful for having become her Master for the convenience of having someone there for him. not for him, this time... running as he went along with Saber, Cloud didn't waste any time]

Saber, in my room under my bed, there is a chest that contains magical orbs called Materia. Bring it to the clinic. We'll be there!

[looking back to Subaru, though Cloud's expression remained stern and determined, his eyes portrayed all the emotions that he felt on the inside. he was worried]

Mm. [he takes a step back as he watches the two. relieved that he could get to Subaru when he did, a frown crosses his lips. if it would put her at ease though...]

I healed all of his serious injuries. He just needs to rest.

[distracted by shiny! Then again, who isn't?]

Materia?...

[she must have been someone important to Subaru, one way or another. sitting down opposite of Luna and on the other side of Subaru's bed, he sighed as he relaxed]

In my world, there's a source of energy called mako. Highly compressed mako can become Materia, and they have magical properties.

...Do large quantities have a negative effect on the user?

[he nods. but the negative effect wasn't too bad, actually]

Anybody can use Materia. They bring out the inner magic in someone that otherwise couldn't be tapped before. [the exceptions being those that already have a vast pool of magic such as Cloud's group and others] Using too much or trying to cast a spell that's too strong for you will probably leave you tired.

[Is kind of thinking...and you might notice she has a wistful look in her eyes. She's not one to lust for power but it would be nice to have. The last time she did, however, didn't produce pleasant results.]

[he knows that kind of tone, that question, that look even. and as Cloud looks back to Subaru, he pauses before answering]

Mm. ... Subaru. Is he important to you?

[fidgeting...fidgeting...you're a complete stranger to her, but you must be his friend if you saved his life, so...]

...Of course he's important to me. He's always...saved me, protected me, protected others from themselves. He wasn't very social when I first met him but...he ended up saving the world once he started opening up and making friends. Forming friendships. Creating bonds that could be felt from outer space.

That's where his strength comes from. That's why he was able to save the world twice. And I believe he can do it a third time. [But it's more like he NEEDS to do it a third time. His father is at risk, after all.]

[taking her words into consideration, he listened, even with his back turned to her as he gazed down at the chest of shining orbs. saving the world, protecting others, forming friendships... the way she spoke so strongly of him set him at ease - at the same time, Cloud couldn't help but be that much more proud of Subaru. he was so young, but he was a good kid. the castle must have taken so much from him in that it was difficult to do those things again.

here Cloud was, powerful and able to do so many things, but he couldn't find himself in the shoes of those that couldn't. and that...made Cloud feel guilty. more than anything, he felt sorry for Subaru. he felt sorry for all of his friends that had to endure the burdens that he took on. closing his eyes as he enclosed his grip around one of those pieces of materia, he sighed, content with Luna's answer]

(Luke... Travis... Hope I'm doing alright.)

[taking the rich green sphere with him, Cloud closed the distance between himself and Luna, extending his hand to her and presenting the materia]

This is what I used to save Subaru. If he's important to you, you should protect him.

[waiting for if she would accept it or not, his expression softened]

It's a Restore materia.

[Mun Note; The Restore materia Cloud is offering to her is Level 1. You can only cast Cure with it for now.]

[She takes it, shakily. Every time she was given power, she ended up hurting someone, whether it be her parents, her friends, or herself. But...this power is for healing. It can't be harmful. And she turns around to compose herself. If you were quick enough, you might have seen a few tears forming around her eyes. Finally, finally she could help him out, no matter how little a way it may be.]

[Now she turns back and is facing you, making eye contact before bowing her head a little.]

Hah...how unladylike of me. I didn't even introduce myself and you...

[perceptive as Cloud was, he most certainly noticed those few tears that dared to fall. Subaru had some good friends. and for good reason too; that much Cloud could see. as the kid introduced herself, he stood back and gave a small smile]

It's alright.

[you couldn't hide the facade from him. but he knows that putting on a strong front was something Subaru could use right now. no need worrying to bits in despair. he'd be back]

Hmmm. Been a while... I met him when we were all on an island with dinosaurs.

A-an island with dinosaurs...? How did you get there in the first place?

[makes a weird face. this place is a roller coaster] I...wish I knew. [shrugs] Frankly, I'd rather forget about it.

That sounds like a good idea.

We live in the same town. A few years ago, he wasn't coming to school, so it was my duty as class president to make sure he received his proper education! He wasn't very cooperative at the time, so we got off to a...rocky start.

[and it involved lots of dragging and yelling and War-Rock making him punch people but whatevs]

[makes a little amused "Hm" noise] Stubborn kid?

Something like that. He eventually started coming to school, but I'm not sure why.
