The fireworks are a nice change, but just how much longer can they go on?

Fourth of July fireworks shows don't even last this long.

Whoever's setting them off must be pretty bored.

Kind of what I was thinking.

I don't know, they seem to lift a lot of spirits.

I know. Don't get me wrong, I think that's a good thing.

But I'm sure some people might want to sleep, and these are loud.

Ah. [a laugh] That's true. I guess I'm used to sleepless nights. That, or sleeping through everything.

I used to be all too familiar with sleepless nights back home, but since I've been here it feels like I get too much.

Is that so? I have a feeling if I don't keep on my toes, I might be the same way.

[ chuckle ] Oh, yeah. I kind of hope I don't go home anytime soon, or else I'm going to have some trouble.

What do you do? Or... what did you do, I guess is the right way to say it.

I can't say I really fancy living in a castle, but the peace is nice.

I'm a deputy commander. I used to be a knight. And well, I guess you're right. Now I'm just trying to understand this place.

It's definitely a change for me. Still don't know what to think of it.

Ah, sounds important. Being a knight always seemed like it was a busy occupation. Well, from what I remember from history class and all.

Most likely. That's another thing I still don't understand: different worlds. Oh, well. Met some interesting people, at least. [ chuckle ] Anyway, I am was a detective.

I'm not sure I understand it, either. Countries, yes. Worlds? It's been interesting so far to say the least.

I apologize for not being familiar with that class. But it seems like we have a little bit in common. [a laugh]

Detectives? Well, what we do is solve crimes, put creeps in prison, get justice for the victims, try to make the world a little safer one case at a time. ...You know, it's not so different from being a knight. Both jobs are about doing good and protecting the people.

Indeed. They do sound very similar. Though I don't solve many crimes. It's more about fighting, and training, and protecting. But the gritty stuff pays off.

Oh, every now and then we have to resort to violence. Usually I don't really like when that happens, but... like you said, the gritty stuff pays off.
