[Vanyel is traveling up one of the larger tourists section of France, his Cinderalla-coach style carriage flowing along behind, a glittering bit of white and soft lights. His mare was pulling it along, a shining creature of white with her flowing mane and tail, braided with light blue ribbons. Around her legs she wore boots attached with jingle bells, so each step was a musical chime.

Vanyel sat atop the carriage on the seat, reigns in his hands, his dark hair brush to an equal shine as his mare and pulled into a neat queue. He was dressed in a neat casual suit complete with cravat, a pin on his lapel showing a winged horse taking flight. To be honest he was not to pleased with this, but at least it was letting him see the city and he could keep near Yfandes to make sure she remained all right. The Castle had done something when they came to Paris, and he was less than pleased. She was to much like a real horse. It unnerved him.

But all the same, he clucked his tongue and gently snapped the reigns. She whinnied and picked up her pace, trotting lightly, tail raised prettily behind her, indeed making the whole ensemble look like a magical ride from Cinderella.]

[ooc: You can pick him up for hire to go around Paris or catch him when he is waiting at spots for customers - like at a hotel, near a club, a park, etc. Pretty much anything since he is going around Paris tonight. Have fun! Also, if you realize why Cinderella is appropriate for Paris, you win a cookie.]

[Vanyel did not know much about this 'Christmas' holiday that people were going on about, but the Castle had more than enough readings on it. Truthfully, it sounded like a nice holiday, a time to celebrate family, friends, and if you were more religious, a time to help renew one's faith. His world had nothing like it, but Yfandes seemed to find great pleasure in the holiday, especially the merry little jingles that some of the books told them about. She found the one about a reindeer named Rudolph terribly amusing and rather heroic. Vanyel found her fascination with them in and of itself amusing.

And through numerous readings and pictures provided, it came to pass Yfandes wanted to help spread some of this Christmas cheer that all the books talked about. Vanyel had no reason to protest, and he could use a break from working in his workroom in the Chimera headquarters. Not all the wards were set yet, and it was draining, attempting to set them just right. It would have been so much easier with Savil....

Still, a little break would hurt no one, and Yfandes did so like to look pretty.

So the children of the village and castle would be in for a treat that day. A brilliant white horse, as shiny as new snow and hooves of silver and eyes of brightest blue, would come prancing into town, a small sleigh being towed behind her. Jingle bells shook as she walked, her own hooves chiming in the snow, her mane and tail braided with red ribbons and little silver bells. Vanyel could only smile warmly as she kept telling him again and again how much like a young filly she felt, all ready for the spring.

So, if anyone wants a sleigh ride, come and get it. If you ask nicely, Yfandes might agree to even let some of you older folk enjoy a quick ride. Vanyel, for his part, his going to walk with her, smiling and enjoying her company and the spirit of the season they had read so much about in the past few days, a small bit of relief they both so dearly needed.]

[ooc: Open to all! As it says, if you come and ask nicely, even if you aren't a child, she might let you have a ride - because yes, she can ultimately decided that and there will be nothing Vanyel can do about it. You are, of course, free to give the pretty horse a treat <3 And talk to Vanyel at your leisure. Kisses possible, btw]

[The expedition, like so many of his previous missions to the borders, had left it hard for him to get sleep. He was twitchy, jerking awake at every noise, at every breath, expecting something, anything, when none was coming. Yfandes would scold him sleepily in his mind, telling him it was fine, that they were fine, and if they planned to get home he needed to have his energies at full - which required sleep. If only it were that simple.

Giving up on it for now, he got up and tugged on a pair of loose pants and indoor boots and an open jerkin, not much caring for being preened when his only intent was to head downstairs to the kitchens to get a treat - and he probably owed Yfandes a little something for continuously waking her, the poor thing. But unlike most people, rather than grab a candle to navigate the night, he merely summoned a bobbing ball of mage-light. It shone white-blue over his head as he padded through the halls and down the stairs, making things seem a bit eerie, but to him it was a comfort. He did not fancy going to the Dead Zone again and loosing his magics, his link to Yfandes.

Once in the kitchen, he grabbed himself an apple from the fridge (it still scared him a bit, this cold box, but he found it fascinating too) and went to sit at the table in the center, the light bobbing above him and spreading his journal out before him. Quietly he began to flip through it, at the things it had to offer.]

Do all of them miss their homes, I wonder?

[Of course, he forgets the journal can pick this up and transmit it. Newbies.]

[ooc: in person ( to the kitchen, in the kitchen, whatevs), or over the journal. come on all you night owls]

[While Vanyel was not entirely happy with his circumstances, that did not mean he would let himself become depressive about it. In fact, it simply made him determined to find a way home. See? His cynicism and hard-headed nature was good for something, at least. At least he was not alone in this new world.

As was proven as he sat on a bench beneath a tree turned the colors of fire, flipping through the pages of his journal and occasionally tossing a handful of falling leaves at a pure white mare with wide blue eyes. She would dance away, nickering like a filly half her age and flicking her tail, seeming to enjoy the little game while she nuzzled out grass from beneath the dead leaves. It all made Vanyel smile a bit. No, definitely not alone here.]

The mare dropped to roll in the leaves and Vanyel chuckled - ]

Careful, dearest, or else you will get leaf stains on your coat and I will have to give you a cold bath.

[The mare let out a horse-ish sound of protest and pushed back to her feet, coming over to Vanyel and presenting her backside with an imperious toss of her mane. The man laughed and reached up, scratching her through his gloves, and the journal picks up his words -]

I wonder if the rest of the people here must deal with such damsels as you, dearest.

[His answer is an amused whicker.]

You know the more I keep scratching, the less reading I get done. Or do you not wish me to find out the magics that are here at the castle, hmm?

[ooc: Van is outside beneath some trees with Yfandes, his white mare (Companion). Feel free to notice he is talking to his horse and she is responding or notice the even stranger sort of conversation over the journals and/or answer his implied question on magic.]

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
