[ This is it, everyone. There's thick fog creeping in ahead and the waves keep pushing your ship forward. No turning back now. Whatever lies ahead--Are you prepared? It's dead quiet save for the waves and the ship rocking with... Hm. ]

[ Hm? ... What's that ahead? It's a silhouette of something. Is that a.. ship? Ghost ship? Nope. It's one of the two crews, eventually all three ships meet and become just a shout's distance away ]

[Mindy... is bored. The thing is, she'd be really great at the rescue slash jailbreak, but all of her gear is back at the castle. Her father taught her never to go into a fight unprepared and she feels really unprepared for this. The cannon practice with Damian wasn't going to help here. All the grown-ups just saw Mindy Macready and they wanted her to stay safe.

Safe and out of the way. She's been on the ship for a while.

She's trying to listen to the jailbreak over the journal. Most of it is sort of boring and hard to make out.]

Ugh. Is anyone else not in the middle of that?

Anyone? [She taps the journal, slightly annoyed.

Oh. What's this? A parrot? That's more interesting than the clang and noise from the fighting.]

Hey. Hey! Bir-- Parrot. I bet you don't want to get tarred and feathered. Come here.

[She moves, trying to be 'stealth' all the years of training to keep her steps quiet so as to not spook the parrot. The parrot, though, seems to have other ideas.]

Oh, come on. If something horrible happens, you're gonna wish I had taken care of you.

[ Taken care of him? He's the Goddamned ParrotBatman. He doesn't need a little girl to take care of him. B( But it's not like there's much he can do as a parrot besides try to bite her fingers. And squawk loudly. Which he does, and he's really kind of grateful this isn't anybody from home, because he would never live down the fact that he can only seem to chirp out, "COWARDLY LOT, COWARDLY LOT."

"Polly wanna cracker," would've been less demeaning. Fuck the castle and the horse it rode in on, man. ]

[ According to all of the information you've managed to gather, the tide will be just low enough for you to get to the entrance to the jail. From there, you're on your own. Ugh...

[Guy groans as he stares in horror at the large ship in the distance. He knows he'll have to get back on that damned boat soon, and the thought of it makes his stomach turn. Which is a pity, of course, since he's spent the past few days lying in bed, trying to calm his poor, seasick tummy down.]

It figures that the moment I started feeling better, we'd have to leave. [He whispers quietly.]

[Guy then scoffs, listening to the sound of his somewhat squeaky voice - a side effect of the Castle's little parting gift. He'd awakened the morning at the start of the trip as an 8 year old boy, and because of that, had spent the majority of the trip (when he wasn't hugging the privy, of course,) curled up in a corner, totally freaking out. Being turned into a wolf was bad enough, but to be forced to relive his childhood (especially when it didn't turn out so well the first time around,) was something else entirely.

Even worse, Guy knew that this was probably his fault.]

I need to be careful of what I wish for, in the future.

[He walks along the beach, picking up small stones and shells in his tiny hands and tossing them into the water. He can feel urges deep inside of him, wanting him to run and jump and climb trees and eat sweets - in other words, to act his current age. However, he's fighting them off as best as he can.]

I am not really eight! [He tells himself, furiously.] I am too old to do these things!

[But, with each passing moment, his desire to play is becoming stronger and stronger. Finally, he stops, sits down onto the sandy beach and tries to get a good brood going. While sitting there, though, he fingers the sand next to him slowly and almost unconsciously at first, drawing lines and making holes. From there, he begins to pile up damp sand into a small mound with his hand, patting it together gently. Eventually, his absent-minded creation catches his full attention, and he stares down at it curiously. He then grabs a few shells from the beach, and begins to decorate the little mound. Within moments, he's completely engrossed...]

This... isn't so bad, really. [He finally says, as he begins building a second mound of sand...]

(ooc: loss time for Guy! Open post, too - feel free to show Guy how to have a little fun and enjoy his last day on the beach. He needs to loosen up a bit. :D)

[Nora's never tried building a sand sculpture before, but she knew the basic principle and figured she could improvise the rest. To hell with just a sand CASTLE, what fun is that? It's cliche and you can't be as creative. So she's spent all day on the beach working on this thing. It was trial and error before she actually got the hang of it, but the end result is a pretty badass looking sculpture. And not a bad representation of the current situation everyone else seems to be in, if she does say so herself.]
[She takes a few steps back to admire her work before moving in closer to add a little more detail to one of the fingers.]

You know... I feel a little guilty for having so much fun while everyone else is getting fucked up the ass by a bunch of Navy Seamen.

Okay, guys, anyone who's still out there and not up to their elbows in shenanigans... I need to hear what's going down, arright?

I know we've got people that were taken captive, but was a complete list ever made? Do we know where they are? And ... aren't some of the Navy ... well ... are we considering Naval personnel castle residents on losses? Because that's what it's sure as hell sounding like to me.

And where are you all headed? I heard something from the crazy pirate who's been turning Nora's head into a walking bead shop ... he said there's some kind of Triangle. Anyone else heard anything about that?

I'm sorry if you guys were lookin' forward to profanity and sarcasm, but ... I've kinda got a job to do, too, so. I figure I might as well do that, first. Hope you're all waiting half an hour after eating before going in the water.

[ It's been a few days since you've been captured, right? The fifteen of you have been split up into three separate groups and have been led away by gunpoint to different cells. Any sort of gadget, odd or not, has been taken away by the three main jailers themselves. That, or risk losing an arm or leg. ]

[ You remember passing by dozens of cells, and seeing over hundreds of other pirates locked within their cells. Nearby or far, the tunnel you're led down does a good job carrying their screams so that everyone has a change to hear it. Tortured for fun either by the jailers or other Navy Admirals, you can tell life in here sucks. ]

[ Your three groups are led much deeper down and are shoved into cells where sea water actually starts seeping in, thanks to a crack in the wall that the jailers don't really care to fix. Whoops. But you three are within shouting distance so... it's not like you're all totally far apart. The bars are made of something similar to jade, but darker in color. At least, that's what you'd like to think. Any sort of power or strength you try hitting it with--The bars simply absorb the blow and that's that. Seems like you need the keys to open up your cells... and it'd be stupid to even think about taking the walls down.... That is, unless you want to drown and/or get killed by the water pressure. ]

[ The jailers leave your groups alone for the most part, since they have other, more unruly pirates to deal with. But even then, you sometimes see them walking by, dragging a body behind them--these guys are serious. And since those bodies are occasionally already sliced to pieces, they're also seriously messed up. ]

On this day, so long ago that no one can even remember the exact year, the great World Council convened and formed their new government, with the Navy as their enforcer, and they've been... somewhat successful at keeping peace and order ever since. The great pirate epidemic has strained them lately, but still they find cause to celebrate. So, if what I've read in the journal is true, it seems like everyone got split up on to three seperate ships and we all went off on various kinds of adventures.

I guess I got really, really lucky... a lot of people seem to have to do a lot of fighting, and I've heard something about people getting captured or something...? I'm not really sure what's going on.

But... well, if you guys are there, I just wanted to see how things are going for the rest of you. I miss you guys... I wish you could be here with me. That would make this really complete.

There are fifteen prisoners in the Naval jail across from this island, and it has fallen to us to rescue them. [She can still barely believe she is fighting against the Navy, what would Gibbs say? And it is thinking of Gibbs that makes her next words a little softer, with something deeper behind them, remembering how three brave friends had taken on a full terrorist camp to rescue her.] It may seem like we are out-weaponed, but with the proper planning no mission is impossible.

The current plan is for a stealth force to infiltrate the prison and attempt to retrieve the captives with the minimum of casualty or fighting. Several pieces of intelligence on the prison have already been relayed - it is primarily underwater and the only entrance in or out is only accessible for short periods of time, and the upper area is heavily fortified.

Because of the entrance only being available for a short time, the prison must be receiving all supplies, incoming and outgoings, and messages during that period. This means it will be the most crowded time and the most likely window when we will be able to slip by the defences unnoticed in the confusion. We have already gathered several small boats, and intend to take a small team of only nine or so crew members who are highly skilled in both stealth and fighting. If this is you, please step forwards making your intent known.

Captain Isabela will be remaining behind on the galleon to have it ready for a quick escape, as well as preparing for a fierce attack. This is most likely where the fighting will be strongest, as our vessel will be the primary target as soon as the Navy notices the jail break. Those remaining behind on the ship should be prepared to split into four teams - manning the ship, fighting, protecting the children, and medical relief. If this is you, please step forwards and make your intent known.

Any more intelligence on both the prison and the Navy of this area is essential, so continue to perform reconnaissance in the town and report back here. There is a woman in a manor on the hill who has possible information, a team of fighters is needed to go with Allen Walker to assess this.

[Filter: The Jolly Roger and The Cruise Liner]

After having this mountain, Mohinder is sat on the summit. Breathless, flushed and sweaty but triumphant. He pulls out a flask and pours himself a cup of tea. Looking out at the bay as he took a long needed sip.

Strangely enough, this isn't the first time I've had tea up a mountain. I do remember climbing a mountain in a national park with a few friends. At the top of an exceptionally steep face was a man with a huge drum of boiling water, making tea for the people who made it up. To this day I have no idea how he got the drum and the table up there.

[Hums thoughtfully before giving a reluctant smile]

Although I do have to confess this break away from my laptop was needed. If Mira ever heard that she'd never let me live it down.

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
