[THE LAST BIG PLOT POST OF THIS PLOT, BY DEMAND]

[Splash, splash, splash.

It's thunderstorming, pouring BUCKETS, and we just got back to Cair Paradisa: IN THE DUCK POND.

FML.]

[ooc: no sections. Go wet and WILD.]

[The Boat]
[Yeah, the boat got here half an hour late. You're not angry, are you? I mean... it's not like you were in any rush, or anything.

It's a beautiful sunset when the boat leaves shore, the sky streaked with pink and orange, the clouds hanging low. It's really beautiful, if you have enough energy to notice.

Wow, what a vacation that was.]

[ooc: there we go.]

[The Race to the Docks; Tyrannosaur Attack]

[Everyone was woken and rounded up at dawn, and gathered together for a meeting. As soon as it was light enough, they were heading for the docks, where the boat would be.

Sounds like a plan, right? Oh, it's a plan. But it's a long distance and everyone's got to get to that dock, if they want to live. Hope you brought your running shoes.]

[ooc: so here is how it's going to work, for the sake of organization and sanity, so no one has to go through posts to find their rescuers and rescuable people. Everyone in one place. I understand the temptation to make your own post and whatever, and I won't fault you if you do, but I'd love you more if we stuck together here.

If you planned to have a character mauled, post HERE with your [Soandso is running, holy shit] or whatever introduction. I will have you attacked. (That sounds cruel.) From there on, your rescuer can hop in and save your bacon. If you weren't on the list on the OOC, that's totally cool: that was just a pre-organized thing, there's no reason why you can't improv more attacks, or spontaneously have Suchandsuch go back for more nearly-getting-mauled action.

This post isn't strictly for people nearly getting nommed, so threadhop and threadjack and FIGHT TOGETHA to your heart's content. If someone needs a hand, step in. If you decide Dude doesn't need that arm, yeah, by all means. Please remember that Rexes are HUGE and instinct based.

God this is getting TL;DR so let's get runnin', ya?

[Visitor's Center]

[Things are pretty quiet here. It's starting to get dark out; the sun's setting. The team getting Jurassic Park back online is currently working on getting the power back up. Hopefully that'll come soon...

Everyone's still preparing, getting things ready, trying to set up some sort of defense...]

[ooc: Start threading people hanging out, chatting, preparing for the night without power, etc; you have until 8:30 PM E.S.T. until the raptors attack. That's an hour and a half from now.

I'll edit with big blocky letters to let you know when the power comes back on.

If not tomorrow on the "Get To The Boat!" run, this is where people are going to get injured.]

[Power-On Team]

[Game on, ladies and gentlemen.]

[ooc: Power-On Team. There are different threads for different areas; work through them and get 'er done.]
[identity profile] sparednothing.livejournal.com
[Visitor's Center]

[Things are pretty quiet here... the power's down, people who haven't spent the entire night fortifying are waking up from where ever they've bedded down, and there isn't a single Park worker to be seen, anywhere. It's a bit disturbing.

The people who spent last night in the rain on the Park Drive are coming back; whoever didn't catch a ride with Luke and Tear in the maintenance jeep is probably still soaked to the bones. They're exhausted, but hey, there's five more days to this week, right? Better keep it up.

The sky is still clouded over, but the rain's stopped.

Everyone had better start planning for what they're going to do.]

[ooc: GO FOR IT. I suggest Team Power-On and Team Stronghold pick a location and meet to conference and plan.

I posted this a bit early, but as of THIS POST, everyone has their abilities back.]

[identity profile] damnlawyer.livejournal.com
[So, Gennaro got eaten by the T-Rex in front of God and everybody at the tyrranosaur enclosure on the park drive, visible to just about anyone in the eight cars there. What didn't get swallowed is strewn in bloody parts amongst the remains of the bathroom hut, which has been scattered about by the T-Rex. Feel free to stumble across what's left of him as you make your way back to the main complex!]
[identity profile] sparednothing.livejournal.com
[Wow, what a night.

When we last left our tourists, they were holding each other, screaming, trying not to scream, crying, trying not to cry, and getting really stressed. In some cases, they were being ground under a vehicle. But that's over, leaving everyone exhausted, and Car 8 totalled.

Everyone needs some air, and the rain is letting up so it's only a drizzle. Still, the mud is ankle-deep and the roads are pretty hard to see, and no one wants to put on any lights, in case they lure in any unwanted predators.

A bunch are gathering in the middle, stretching their legs and breathing for the first time in twenty minutes.

Longest twenty minutes of their LIVES -- it feels like it was HOURS.]
[identity profile] sparednothing.livejournal.com
[It's not all that quiet, between the heavy rain and the occasional crack of lightning. The eight cars may be various degrees of noisy, quiet chatter or dead silent, as its inhabitants are fumbling to find out what the status quo is.

Doesn't matter anymore, though. There are a few really heavy footfalls, rumbling the earth, and then there's an eardrum-shattering ROAR.

Ladies and gentlemen, enter stage center, our friend the Tyrannosarus Rex, and several snapping cables.

Better get in the nearest car, or the bathroom in the area, because shit just got messy.]

[ooc: GET IN THERE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.

Current path:
Car 3 --> Car 7 --> Car 8 --> Car 6 --> Bathroom --> GONE]

The Hike.

[somewhere along the river, a good distance from the main complex now, is the group of hikers. They have walked a pretty good distance for an hour or two, admiring the scenery, wading in the shallows, throwing rocks and generally just having fun. It is now just before sunset and the clouds are starting to gather; there is a rumbling of thunder in the distance

Hey guys ... wait a sec. What's that noise? Anyone hear that?

[what she is hearing is actually the ABSENCE of a low-level noise; the humming from a nearby fence has quit--meaning the power has gone out!]

((Post is open to all people who volunteered to join Peri on her hike and/or people who did not go on the safari ride. If you missed the first post feel free to retcon yourself into this post, or go ahead and backtag! This IS a plot post and will be structured as such. THERE WILL BE DINOSAURS--the purpose of this is to get people not on the safari out into the wilds and away from relative safety. Join in if you want to have rough'n'tumble action!))

((all sections posted!))

[identity profile] sparednothing.livejournal.com

[The last tour of the day started recently; eight cars trundling down the road on tracks, each a vibrant green with red stripes. They're quiet vehicles, moving along slowly. It's a dinosaur safari, after all, and they don't want to spook the animals. However, the weather's quickly getting cloudier, so you have to look really close to see the dinosaurs; they've started looking for cover.

Down the path we go!

What amazing things will we see next?

Let's check in on what's going on in all the individual cars...]

[THE TIME ROLLS BY. THUNDER CRASH, LIGHTNING, HEAVY DOWNPOUR OF RAIN...

AND THE POWER IS OUT, LEAVING ALL EIGHT CARS STRANDED...

RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE REX ENCLOSURE.]

[ooc: We'll do pre-powerout stuff until 8 P.M. EST, though it'll be 6 P.M. in game when that happens, just to give people a chance to play more of the pre-powerout stuff.

I SUGGEST YOU TRACK (IF POSSIBLE) THE THREADS FOR YOUR CARS.

ooc2: There will be a new post put up when Our Friend comes along.]

[The Luncheon]

[The residents have been asked to dress nicely for the luncheon, and everyone has been invited to join. There are buffet tables set up with food that easily gives Paradisa's normal fare a run for its money –– tiny sculpted chocolates, deliciously moist cakes with glazed fruits and sweets, gourmet sandwiches. They're serving Chilean sea bass as a main course, should people want to try some.

Everything is set up beautifully. You can tell that there's been a lot of effort put into making this place ideal, from the greenery to the furniture to the perfectly polished floor.

The atmosphere is friendly and upbeat. It's a social gathering!

As a special guest, there's a couple handlers with a baby triceratops on a leash. Despite being young, it's already the size of a small pony. Infants haven't been integrated with the park yet, so this is a crowning opportunity to meet one and be close enough to touch. Oh, and it's perfectly safe.]

[ooc: GO FOR IT. Socialize!]

[Open-Air Shuttle Bus]

[A short little man is standing on the docks, waiting. He looks like a pleasant man.]

Ah! Welcome, welcome! [he opens his arms, with a huge smile, waving his cane.] Just on time. Had a good trip? I must say, that's nothing compared for what's in store for you.

Come on, then. Everyone onto the shuttle! We've got so much to do.

[Once everyone's on a shuttle, Hammond stands up from his seat in the first row. He looks delighted, and enthused, but maybe a bit nervous, as well. He smiles, one hand on his cane and the other on the back of a seat to steady himself. He glances at all the seated residents, and then glances over his shoulder at the driver.]

Take us away, Richard.

[the bus starts moving and he turns back to face the residents]

Hello, hello, everyone. I'm John Hammond, and I'd like to thank you all for coming. You're all very lucky, you know! Only four hundred people were chosen to witness Jurassic Park's opening, and I believe I have some huge surprises for you all. We've poured billions of dollars into building this park, but we need a test run before we can truly open it to the public. But I won't talk your ears off –– [warm laugh] –– let's just enjoy the ride, yes?

We'll leave the questions for when the magic begins.

[he smiles and sits down]

[ooc: Threadhop on each other like no tomorrow, darlings >:) All sections up!]

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
