[Lloyd is feeling particularly artsy and lazy today. Which means he'll just draw on the journal, sup.

There are a number of rough sketches showing up on this page. They look like designs for something, but it's hard to say what since he seems to change his mind and start a new one every couple minutes. They start out as fairly intricate geometric patterns before he moves on to different themes -- at least a couple of them involve trees and stars, naturally. They're all very good, if incomplete.

There are other things scribbled in the margins, too, where he got distracted. Smaller designs for jewelry, pictures of Iota and some of his friends' pets, random things from outside his window, you name it.

If you ever wondered what Lloyd's stream of consciousness is like, this is it.]

[She laughs.] Although you must promise not to put in any embarrassing photographs of losses in there, Lloyd.

Man, after that one loss Kratos had? No way I'd put anything like that in there.

[Not only does she know exactly which loss to which Lloyd is referring, she also happens to still have some copies of pictures from that loss.]

That's probably wise.

Unless it's really, really funny, then I might take one just in case.

Or if your friend doesn't seem to mind.

That too! Dunno who would want somebody to take a picture of them on a loss, though.

Well, perhaps someone would be amused by their newfound kitten form.

I think it'd be kind of hard to ask them if they were a kitten, though.

That may depend. At times, people on animal losses are perfectly capable of speech.

Really? [pause] That's gotta be kind of weird to see.

Oh, there are many aspects of Paradisa I'd define that way.

Heh, yeah, I guess so. I don't really notice a whole lot anymore.

Well, that doesn't mean you should let your guard down! You never know when someone will go on some loss you never even thought possible before.

I know, I know. Zelos was already trying to get me to pay better attention to all the weird stuff around here.

There is quite a lot of it, but I think I'm beginning to understand Paradisa better. I was just speaking to the Doctor about this, actually. I think it's important to maintain contact with newer residents so we don't become complacent.

[understanding Paradisa, his interest has been piqued] Is it really that bad if we get too used to everything?

[aha] Well, yes and no. It's probably good if you aren't too shocked by becoming a woman or finding yourself in someone else's body; on the other hand, it's hardly a positive thing to become complacent about arrivals and departures of friends, or the temporary nature of death.

... Yeah, I guess that's true. I don't know if I could ever get totally used to that kind of stuff, though.

I'd be worried if you did, Lloyd. For someone who values life as much as you do, the fact that we have no control over whether we may see a dear friend ever again is nothing to be taken lightly.

It's... part of what I hate about this place. It jerks people around like that kind of stuff doesn't matter, but.... People still die here. Coming back doesn't change that.

Mmm. While I am very glad it's not permanent, I do agree. It's no less important to try and prevent death or injury here simply because it's easier to recover.

Right, exactly. [a pause.] Besides, there's always still a part of you that feels like you're never going to see people again, even though you know they're supposed to come back. I don't know how anybody could get used to that.

I don't think anyone who retains their compassion can, Lloyd.

[He's quiet for a second -- he'd been doing such a good job not thinking about how much July sucked, too fffffffffffffffff]

I guess... it's good to think about that stuff, though. That way we don't forget that we still need to find a way out of here.

Yes, precisely. Or to somehow find a way to change it - if there's one thing I've learned from you, Lloyd, it's that nothing is impossible.
