[the voice of a very confused girl can be heard through the journal - she's talking to herself, mostly, but her comments are very general]

I woke up this morning and there was a bug in my room - a really weird-looking one. Why was there a bug in my room? I tried to whack it with a book and it bit me!

[a frustrated sigh]

Now there are... things all over the place, with people's names on them. That must mean there are things with my name on them, right?

Right. Of course. Look, if anyone finds something with my name - Sarah Williams - on it, can you please give it back? I... I can't remember much of anything.

[ooc: feel free to find anything of sarah's - some of her memories are already taken, but there's still a few that are open. OH and because i'm lazy, feel free to find anything of erik's, too.]

[digs around in the pile that is his room]

It was a comic book or something. You were in it.

A comic book? Why would I be in a comic book?

[pauses for a moment, trying to remember something - anything - but of course she can't.]

What's it about?

Hang on, let me...

[shuffle, shuffle]

Ah-ha! Found it. Um...

[flip flip flip flip]

Looks like you're at a party. Lots of fancy clothes, and some guy with big hair. Bubbles seem to be a recurring theme.

Really? It doesn't sound familiar to me at all... although I suppose it makes sense that I attended a party at some point.

Bubbles? Real, floating bubbles? [a pause] What guy with big hair?

I... I don't know. This is all moonspeak to me.

Maybe you should have it. It might make more sense that way.

Yes... I'd like to see it.

Um, where are you? I can come and find you, if you'd like.

Sure. I'm in the library, bottom floor. I'll hang out near the entrance so it doesn't turn into a game of tag or something.

Um... okay. [some rustling sounds as she picks up the journal and heads for the library.] I'll be there in a few minutes.

[aand about ten minutes later, have sarah wandering towards the library entrance. she looks kind of... confused, understandably.]

Hi?

[is standing around a little awkwardly]

Hi.

[hands her this comic book, really detailed, super-pretty! :D ]

Pretty sure this one's yours? It looks like you.

Thanks. [takes the book, flipping through the pages]

... Wow. It does look like me. This is... kind of weird.

[frowns] This man I'm dancing with looks quite a bit older than I do. Does this... does this mean that what's in this book actually happened to me?

I'm not sure, but that seems to be the general idea.

[a shrug. he's totally lost here.]

Sorry... I guess there's no way you could know. It's just -- frustrating, not remembering this.

[she pauses, tilting her head to the side.] My dress was very pretty though, wasn't it?

S'alright, we're all kind of having the same problem, it sounds like.

Oh, yeah. I was just thinking, the whole thing looks really fancy... People don't usually throw parties like that anymore. Maybe you were a princess?

It is somewhat comforting to know I'm not the only one going through all this.

A princess? [considers this, and decides she likes the idea] Maybe... wouldn't that be lovely? I don't think I'd mind it if I was a princess.

But that man... was he a prince? He looks more like a king to me, although I'm not sure why.

Oh, that reminds me. If you find anything belonging to Kano Jurgen, gimme a holler? I'm kind of... You know, also still wondering who I am and all.

...It's the hair. [he makes an appropriate porcupine hair gesture with his hands] Or maybe his age. He looks old enough to be your dad.

Of course. I'll do my best, since you were nice enough to find something of mine.

It is rather... odd. [pulls a face] Maybe he is my father.

Cool.

Aha, maybe? You don't look too alike, but it is a comic book, so...

No, we don't, do we? I certainly don't have his... hair. Unless it doesn't usually look like that.

I suppose comic books would differ from real life.

So, you haven't found anything that belongs to you yet?

Me? Um, just a couple things. They don't make much sense, though.

I guess nothing would really make sense to any of us, would it? We don't remember any of it.

[ahem] Miss Williams?

... Ah. My name is Lemony Snicket ... and I seem to have a scrapbook of your photographs on the bookcase in my room, if you'd care to come and claim it?

I'm afraid I don't know anyone or anything in it, but it does have your name written inside the cover. Perhaps it might help...?

Yes -- oh, you do? Well, people just seem to be finding my things all over the place today. Which is... a good thing, particularly since I'm not sure what sorts of things might have my name on it.

That would be very helpful, thank you. What room number are you in?

Room 1904 - it's in the Gaudium Tower. Would it be easier for us to meet in the lobby?

Yes, I think it would - I'm not sure where the Gaudium Tower is.

I'll be there as quickly as I can.

[puts the scrapbook in the beat up brown briefcase he found, and totes it down to the lobby. sits calmly on one of the benches, and waits patiently for her, looking around at everything else that's littering the walls.]

((Given the nature of this plot, I cannot help but think "OH! And here's Charlie Bear!"))

[a short stretch of time later, sarah finds her way down to the lobby, spotting a man seated on one of the benches.]

Mr. Snicket?

[looks up, smiling] Yes! Sarah Williams, I presume? [gets to his feet and offers her a hand]

[she was slightly wary at first, him being a stranger and all, but he seemed so friendly that she immediately felt much more at ease]

Yes, that's me. [returns his smile, shaking his hand gratefully] Thank you for finding my... scrapbook, was it? Every little bit helps, I think.

Well ... [takes the scrapbook out and holds it out to her] By their very nature, scrapbooks are filled with several "little bits" ... As I went through it, I was reminded of the process of putting together such a volume ... perhaps I have done so in my past, and there is a similar volume waiting somewhere in this castle, for me...?

Oh - thank you. [takes the scrapbook and begins to leaf through it, running her fingers down the pages]

If it served as a reminder of something, then perhaps you have put a scrapbook together before. If you like, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for it - or anything that has your name.

This woman - in the pictures and articles - her name is Linda Williams. Do you -- do you think she's related to me, somehow? Maybe she's my... mother.

... She does look a great deal like you. It's very likely. She might be a sister, or an aunt, as well...?

Maybe. I wish I could remember... but it only says she's an actress... [sighs] I feel as if... she is someone close to me. I just can't figure out who.

Perhaps there is something else here, in the castle, that would help you figure it out?

Oh, there probably is. But the only other things I've found have this... man in them, and I can't figure out who he is. He looks to be quite a bit older than me.

[pauses] One of the memories was a... video. Whoever he was, I don't think he was a... good sort of person. From what I could tell, I had to get something back from him. It was all very strange, and didn't make much sense.

Have you had any luck finding things that belong to you?

I haven't, no, not yet ... [the mun is saying Erik came down to the lobby after Sarah left]

Whoever the man is ... if he meant you harm, or took something from you, I hope that he's not here, looking for his own history, as well.

Well, I hope you find something soon.

... I never even thought of that. I haven't seen him around, but then again, I don't know his name.

Thank you ... so do I. And if I see him, Sarah, I shall misdirect him as best I can.

Oh, thank you very much, Mr. Snicket. He would stand out quite a bit - he has... very strange hair. It's blonde, and sort of... big.

Oh, I see. [nods] If any men with large, suspicious-looking blond hair ask for you, I shall point them in a not-you-ish direction, then!
