Wave #5
[After this, Wash has been giving another go at working out his loss, since he feels like he should've managed that, by now.
He's also been on the roof a lot of evenings lately now that the rain's stopped. April and its nightly thunderstorms were great and all, but it also left him missing the stars. And he might not have a ship to pilot, at the moment, but being up here helps, since this place has some pretty spectacular views.
Tonight, he's making lists of names, ships, constellations, foods, and so on - scribbling them out when he thinks they're complete.
Finally, picks up his pen again, and after he manages to work out how to filter it...]
*-*-*
Sooooo.. how'd you guys figure out what the castle took from you when it dragged you in?
*-*-*
[That done, he sets the journal aside and stretches out on the roof, eyes on the sky, a faint frown on his face, as thoughtful!Wash is thoughtful.]
[ooc: open, for any fellow roof dwellers/star gazers]

Nice night.
no subject
A good night for Astronomers and astrologers I suppose.

[Replies and sits down before giving a wry smile]
I am apparently a tyranical dictator set on taking over the world.
[Shrugs with a sigh looking back up at the stars]
I do not recognise any of them.
no subject
Well, they say the first step is admitting you have a problem.
[looks back up, too]
Can't say I do either. Strange as the rest of this place is, it's a tad unsettling.
no subject
Yes, well they probably also say that you should not know your own future. Although not many would turn down the chance.
[Picks at the stone floor thoughtfully.]
It is strange to look up and not recognise anything, yet have it still be a sky and stars. I had not thought that I had looked up at them all that often.
no subject
[sighs a little, softly]
I did. I'm a pilot, back home, and they're why I took the job. To get out there among them.
no subject
Surely you're still under them?
no subject
[blinks back, before he figures out what he thought he meant]
OH, oh. I'm a... spaceship... pilot. Do some conventional flight, though most of it's interplanetary.
no subject
[Stares at him genuinely shocked and impressed before looking up at the stars and then back down at him again. He sits down and suddenly looks his age of eighteen.]
What? How? Have you been to Mars? Jupiter?
no subject
They're different here.
[she glances up at the stars, and then to his question --]
Sometimes you eventually work it out on your own. Sometimes people tell you. That seems to be the way it works.
no subject
Yeah, they are. I thought, maybe, I'd be able to figure out basically where we are, up here, but... haven't found anything familiar yet.
That's a mite helpful. And I guess I'll get around to finding it eventually.
[pauses, and then, looking up, too]
You figure out yours?
no subject
[she uncurls a bit]
I forgot forgetting. It's a bit complicated.
no subject
And yeah, I was. Here before. I read some of what I wrote but it never seems to have come up. Drinking came up, though. Which wasn't a bad idea I had either.
[at that, he frowns more, and then pushes himself up a little, bracing himself on his elbows, to look at her]
It sounds like it.
no subject
[there's a sound then that's part sigh and part laugh]
I don't know why I never considered drinking...
no subject
Given this place, I'm surprised more people aren't out of their minds twenty-four hours a day.
no subject
[she uncurls fully thinking about that]
Even without the alcohol. It's this place.
no subject
[lays back, again, hands behind his head]
Though I think some of them were probably pretty far gone before they ever came here.
no subject
That's true. It wouldn't be fair to blame it for everything.
no subject
Right. Just most of it.

((OOC And having now seen Dollhouse finale this thread makes me lol))
[SereniCrew filter FTW]
[Serenity crew filter foreva!]
Actually trying to do stuff, I mean. I'd've put an arrow through my foot back home.
[Most awesome filter EVER, clearly]
You seem to remember us all, and those not here that have been mentioned--perhaps it's a skill you've forgotten?
[We should make t-shirts]
Hm. That's something I hadn't done much thinking on - I'll have to do that.
